Define love. If you define it in a Godly way, then yes. How do you define friendship? To lay down one's life for a friend means to have the greatest love for someone. If this is your definition, then yes, it is possible on both accounts.

If you define love as something that involves romantic attraction, then the answer is still yes because otherwise people would be guilty of sin before getting married simply on that account alone. If the other person rejects your romance, then you sin in not respecting their free will and also by continuing to cultivate your own desires while knowing that your friend does not want to reciprocate. And since it's not a matter of salvation, then you would not be innocent in your persistence.

If you define love based on 1 Corinthians 13 and based on the whole birth, life, crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension of Christ Jesus our God, then you have a good definition.

Never be friends with a woman if your interest is romantic. A lot of times the romantic interest will fade and then you don't care anymore, and you can be friends or not be friends, whatever. As long as you still have romantic interest though, not friends. If she is asking you to hang out as friends tell her you're not interested in being just friends and if she changes her mind to give you a call, then leave it at that and go about your life.

Women can tell if you have romantic interest easily, and if you have romantic interest but agree to be friends she will just have pity on you, and pity never turns into romance.
