  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi Y'all. I know I've been out of touch with this thread for a couple of days but I just had to tell you. We had breakfast at a place this morning that just fit this thread. They had old time coke "pop"/"soda" case the one where the lid flips up, an old scale (the kind that told your fortune or interesting facts about you and your future??..!!!), signs all over for Nehi, Grapette, Barqs Root beer, Ideal Bread, Wonder Bread, Double Cola, Tom's chips, etc...

Anyone remember Henny Youngman? How about the Cisco Kid, in keeping with the previous western theme?

Sounds like an old courty gas station or store we used to pass on the way to the "lake".

I do remembr the Cisco Kid...he was actually on tv recently on a new web channel...LOL

Wow, what memories those evoke Larry! I remember when the kids were little and I was bringing in two glass gallons of milk from the front porch early in the morning and when I shut the door I barely touched the bottles together and they broke, the whole bottom falling on my toe, cutting it open! There I was with a mixture of two gallons of milk and the blood from my foot in the carpet! What did I worry about? The carpet of course! What a big mess!

I remember everyone of those so I guess that dates me for sure! LOL

The PF Flyers were kids shoes were they not? Mine loved theirs.

When I found that list it seemed like a good one to put on here. Some things we hadn't mentioned were on there. This is such a nice thread. It's good that everyone is participating.

Birfriend - "Radio Flyer" is a Red Wagon but I think you may have known that ^_^
No, didn't realize it until McWilliams posted about the PF Flyers.

When I was three or younger the folks got me a kids's fire engine red truck for Christmas...the kind you could sit in and drive. I very vaguely remember it, but we had pictures of me riding in it. I saw one very similar to it in an antique store on our recent trip. De Ja Vue! ;)

Its what the little guys put on their flat top hair cuts to make it stand up straight.

I had forgotten that as well. LOL That makes me remember Alberto V05. Mother would saturate my hair with that stuff to help calm down all the tangles...
once the tangles were out she set my hair in stovepipe curls... such torture to endure.:D

That brings up another memory of when my mom would make me sit still while she curled my hair with a curling iron into curls like Shirley Temple wore! LOL! What misery to be beautiful! Then she would place a very large bow on a clip in my hair! So stylish we thought!

Didn't go through that for which I'm thankful but did do the butch wax thing for the flat top haircut. I do remember girls wearing those curlers with little spines running from them like a porcupine and just as dangerous :D

Ouch, I remember those curlers...trying to sleep with "orange juice can things" wrapped into my hair...

And sitting for an hour with a plastic bonnet on, blowing hot air to dry my curlers...wo...some things are better left in the past. LOL

O.K. heres one thats even worse to remember! When I was little and got my first perm it was with this huge electric thing over my head with wires that attached to the curlers on my head. Talk about a torture mechanism! It was awful and even scary to a little kid! Talk about the dark ages! Wow, I didnt know I was so old! LOL
