  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do any of you go far enough back to remember the Saturday night Hit Parade with Gisele McKenzie and a whole group of others? Great show!

The Hit Parade was a regular family viewing event.
We also fully enjoyed singing along with Mitch Miller.

Do you remember Gabby Hayes. Mainly known as Roy Roger's sidekick?

Great picture, thanks Larry! I remember Gabby very much. I liked such gems with Gabby as: Don't Fence Me In, Roll on Texas Moon, and Along the Navajo Trail. I also liked Under California Stars but that was with Andy Devine. Liked him too. You'all got me so inspired I changed into my Dale Evan's outfit. :D Back in the saddle again but forgot my horse.

Excellent...I am in good company.

Did you like Maverick? I even liked the movie a few years back with James Garner and Mel Gibson.

Hackett, I just saw that movie again recently. Jodie Foster was in it too. Funny film. ;) Missed the ending though cause I fell asleep...but these days I fall asleep in any movie after 10:00 p.m.:sigh: :D

Actually this was the Tonight Show with Steve Allen, long before Saturday Night Live.
In the 'where are they now?' segment Don Knott, Louis Nye and two others which I cannot recall did the funniest of all skits!! How I'd love to see such again!

Hi Y'all. I know I've been out of touch with this thread for a couple of days but I just had to tell you. We had breakfast at a place this morning that just fit this thread. They had old time coke "pop"/"soda" case the one where the lid flips up, an old scale (the kind that told your fortune or interesting facts about you and your future??..!!!), signs all over for Nehi, Grapette, Barqs Root beer, Ideal Bread, Wonder Bread, Double Cola, Tom's chips, etc...

Anyone remember Henny Youngman? How about the Cisco Kid, in keeping with the previous western theme?

I remember something with Dick Clark, it may have been on Saturday afternoon or night. I am not sure.

It was called, American Bandstand, and was a dance show which introduced much "rock n roll" music back in the sixties and was hosted by a very young Dick Clark. I don't know when it was on though.

I remember it being on in the afternoon during the week. We would rush home from school and rock around the clock to the music they played. I always dreamed of being one of the dancers on the show.

There was a TV show a couple of years back that had a few episodes around that event. I think it was called American Dream??? Not sure. Well now, I must wear my poodle skirt in honor of that memory.
