Ariel, So sorry to read of your father's demise in war. It is a terrible thing. I was a chaplain and held many a hand to the end, and many never had the chance to have their hand held. Our veterans' motto is "Never Again!"

My unit fought alongside the US 101st Airborne. We were the 2nd Battalion Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, and received a Presidential Citation for our rescue efforts.

Prior to that, I went through the 2nd World War bombing of London. We saw many a family lose a father, and often both parents. I have always had a special feeling for the children of war casualties. God bless you. I know life is much harder when you grow up knowing that your father was killed in action on foreign soil.

Blessing on you,

Jim

You are welcome, Bonny..I tried copying my medals, but they were awkward..All my photos in unicorm are pasted into a photo album.

Cheers,

Jim
If you have a good camera couldn't you take a pic of them and then put them on computer? Just an idea

Jim, thank you so much for your kind words. I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes. Yes, it was hard growing up without him. My mother married again when I was four, and I had a good father, but all my life I have wondered what my father was like.

He was with the American Infantry in Korea, and killed when the Chinese flooded across the border.

I am posting his memorial site here.

God bless you, my father was born in 1921 also ,he was in France mostly during the war.
I so enjoyed listening to his war stories.
( I am not making light of your loss ) just sharing also
I have noticed and talked about this with a friend how our fathers talked about the good things in the war .
and very seldom was the bad stuff ever brought up.
he told stories till the last days of his life. he died at the age of 68 from lung cancer.
their generation including our Jim was a very special breed!!!
and we owe them so much. God bless them

Nanajojo, yes, you are so right. There is something special about that generation, many born in the 20's, who fought WWII.

My father-in-law was also such a person. He was in the Navy and saw action in the Pacific. Like your father, his stories were mostly about the funny things that happened.

I loved my father-in-law so very much. He was a godly man, an Irishman, with a gift of gab and a wonderful sense of humor. At the same time, he loved the Lord with all his heart. He talked about a time when he was 12 when he felt a hand on his back as he was walking up a hill. He heard an audible voice say, "You're mine!" Every breath he took, he loved God. He taught me about the Father just by his godly example. I miss that dear man so very, very much. He passed away in 2000, and I have felt his loss deeply.

We are losing that generation. I know I will see many of them in heaven some day. They were some of the best people our country has ever had, and we will miss them very much.

Meanwhile, let us cherish the dear ones we have left.

Baseball...yes, I remember many neighborhood pick up games. I was a lefty at bat, and could hit well. And I could run. But I wasn't any good at throwing. Wow, I envied the guys and their throwing arms...

Later in high school I went into track. Until we moved. They told me at my new high school that there was no track team for girls.

It was tough to be an athletic girl in those days.

Yoshi.....

bcauser,
During the school year I work at our local school and during the summer I work at a campground / golf course in the Irish Hills....

It is so nice.... and I have a beat up - fixed up trailer that is an antique.....that I keep up there and stay on race weekends (very busy time) ..... I also can golf all I want... and my husband loves that because he can too!!!!!

I am not great.... but I have fun....

Yoshi is not my creation of course, but I did paint him at the campground in the gameroom.... another one of my joys, painting - not a great painter, but enough to have fun........Mickey

I call it Mickeyangelo Art.... :)
