That Pet Peeve would be quiet incorrect, my ancestors that are American Indians do not mind being known as such, but would prefer to be referenced by the tribe name, Creole. As do many of the People of the Land. (Though Indigenous is actually incorrect, the first ones came from China and crossed a land bridge to get here, they just did it sometime when pyramid and mound building was a thing oh and Giant stone things)

Nations. Plural. But many tribal names mean "The Principal People", "The Original People", "The People", etc.
