I suppose I understand them, but I also see where you're coming from. Real life crushes and internet crushes aren't quite the same. That's why I think an internet crush should just be for fun. Possibly a way to meet, but nothing serious until you've known each other in person for a while. If it somehow beats the odds, and turns into something significant, great. If not, it was just an internet crush.

That said, I think we should be careful not to inadvertently play with other peoples' hearts. Not everybody keeps the same degree of psychological distance online.

That's very true The internet is such a new phenomenon, and not everyone is on the same page. I take my online crushes very lightly, they're more like curiosities and admirations. But I guess some others are really hoping to meet their life partners online.
