  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do you have a best friend?

If I can't say my wife, and my 6 year old boy doesn't count, I would have to say no. Out side of those two I can sing "what a friend we have in Jesus" and that's about it. Lol, I'm too strange and cranky to have friends!

I've not had a best friend for at least 12 years when I gave my life to Jesus then moved away soon after.
I've been some what isolated do to certain circumstances since then and never really made any friends when I went to church and never hung out with the ex husband's alcoholic crowd, so no best friend, but I have hope.

I am blessed with a few very close friends. I used to have what I thought were friends in the dark days before Christ came into my life but soon after he transformed me they all dissapeared. I realise now that they were not my friends but instead were people who shared my shameful ways and my joining in with them justified their participation in these things.

Praise the Lord for pulling me from my shame! I now have some wonderful REAL friends that I can trust and love me for being me and nothing else. We laugh, we cry, we pour out our hearts to each other...it is such a blessed thing. :)

:prayer: Dear Lord, Praise you for giving us the gift of friendship and love for each other. Please help Rebeccathegreat to find fellowship and friendship with other people who know and love you as she does. Please Lord help her to know that she is loved and is not alone. Please Lord fill her life with laughter and joy shared with others. Thank you Lord. In Jesus name..:amen:

well, i have been very blessed...i have 2 best friends :) they are nana and ana. i have known nana for about 20 years now, and she has been there for me through my absolute worst and greatest times. we got into so much trouble as teens, that our moms called us the "gruesome twosome"!!!

i met ana about 16 years ago, and she is actually my oldest sons aunt. we have been close almost since day one and she is very special to me. she has seen me at my worst and my best and still loves me.

Yes I have 2 best friends in NY one saved my life ...her name is Solange 14 years ago...God sent her so I would know I had cancer and then she and her family took care of me.
The other my guy friend since I am 10 I know him but we have been best friends since I was 18.

I have best friends here too...women I have learned to love dearly though I have never met...they know who they are...and they are all pieces of my heart.
Each has a specific part of me...they each tend to different parts of my heart...one like a mom, one like an older sister one like a little sister...and one...in the center of it all...who is exactly my opposite and then exactly like me in many ways..I know I am bonded to them all for life.
The one best friend I had for 30+ in NY years committed suicide in 92 that was very heart wrenching for me.
I guess the most important best friend I have is Jesus...and my precious Abba Father my Heavenly Father.

Yes but I have to get rid of him. I asked God about it and two of my pastors received word from the Lord about it, so I must. I don't know how I am going to do it.

:(
Swee, I'll pray for you tonight. I had to make that decision some years ago. Go ahead and read my story if you get the chance, I'd love your comments. http://christianforums.com/t6044820-story-the-light-in-the-window.html
Christ be with you as you make this tough decision and may it be in HIS will.

Scarlet Lamb, It sounds like you have a lot of good friends. I'm sorry at your loss of he friend in NY.

I had 2 close friends...one was a drinking buddy before I got saved and now we have drifted apart. Another close friend of mine committed suicide last March.

I do have many friends...just none that were that close.
gibby I'm sorry for your loss. That's hard. I've not had a best best friend for a long while. Maybe someday the Lord will open that door, we'll see.

Thankyou Sampa. I'll go see your thread now. I'm sorry you had to go through that too.

I've been generally crying on and off for most of the weekend...I don't even know if it's permanent or temporary (because of his current situation)....I know it's weighed on my mind recently and my pastor confirmed it when she had a vision of me with a ring around my wrist attached to a person and this connection would cause me to sin and make me unable to progress in my walk with God. As he isn't a Christian there is no way he can understand why I have to do this. Worst thing is, he is my closest friend and I'll miss him very much.

eta: I read and enjoyed your story; thanks for sharing! Many things resonated with me in the choices she had to make. My friend is a wonderful guy and doesn't do any of those things, but he does have responsibilities that - while he insists are not impaired by our friendship - if God thinks they are, then I have to obey. It's VERY difficult to do so and while I have to trust that it's for his or my best interests, I feel like God's pulling the last person away from me that I was ever friends with and now I have no one.
