I fast every week (or try to) and I'd recommend this to anyone!
This might sound like a stupid question, but how often is that? One day per week or several? How long can you do that?
I have to admit that I have thought a lot about fasting and also talked to my father about it since we both have health issues. He has diabetes which wasn't discovered for along time and is hard to control now and I have chronic migraine which can be triggered by leaving my normal rhythm, including skipping meals. I can skip one meal if I have a snack later, but a complete day without eating, let alone several, would trigger major migraine attacks - so would bingeing btw. which means I would never consider just having an entire bag of chrisps or big ammounts like that, but that isn't the issue here.
Since I study and work, I have a ful day which is hard enough with the chronic migraines, so for now Ihave decided not to fast. Plus, I used to have anorexia nervosa and my body image is still not good. It took me a long time to recover and to learn to eat normally, not starve myself for a day and then binge. I finally managed to develop normal hunger again, craving for healthy foods, as well as feeling full and completely satisfied after normal meals and I really don't want to lose that.
One question about fasting, though because that is a thought that really scares me. I sometimes have days when I'm really, really anxious and can't eat until the afternoon. Eventuelly, I start getting extremely shaky and dizzy. Once, when I ate very little for several days (about a cereal bar per days) I fainted once and for the rest of the time, I was always very dizzy and very close to fainting - in those cases I had some dextrose because I could feel that I was losing it, blackness etc. Today that would be even more dangerous because I have to cycle to a lot of places, so if Iwas constantly on the verge of fainting, I would be a great danger to myself and others. Do those of you who fast experience that? How do you deal with that during every-day life? How do you go grocery-shopping or to work without fainting? The one time I did, luckily, I was already in hospital, but I wouldn't want to faint outside and have an ambulance car take me to hospital. How do you avoid that?
