  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

...Do you even believe in Evolution in the first palce?

Interesting point. I did not reflected about in that way. But I agree. If it is a miracle, then yes the theory of evolution stand as it is. But if it isn't it a miracle then it would falsify the explanation of of whale evolution.

I agree... but anything that interacts with the universe is part of it operation, weather it is normal or not. A miracle is per definition something that cannot happen. Therefore, if it happens it is not a miracle any more and that is why miracles are impossible, as I understand miracles.

I think of miracles like this:

Imagine that the universe is a computer program, which was programmed by God. The laws of physics are the code of the program.

A miracle is when God temporarily reprograms the code to allow things to happen that wouldn't normally be possible.

A silly neologism obviously.

I get that it's meant to refer to a religious belief in evolution but the word fairy is meant to refer to small supernatural beings with insect wings. Neither thing exists. That's my point. Why make up more words for non-exist ant things? Aren't there enough?

exactly because evolution as such does not exist - twinc

Hmmm ... you're entitled to your assessment.

I don't think most share your sentiment, though.

Irrelevent -- they have the right to believe as they wish -- and the right to be wrong.

And for those who don't, they certainly aren't 'babbling.'

Some are -- there are those who agree who also occasionally babble.

What of it?

I always looked at evolutionism as "a belief in evolution" -- not, "a religious belief in evolution"; but then I would assume the context of the conversation would determine which of the two applies.

So what do you consider "gravitism," "germism," or "roundearthism"?

The point I'm trying to make here, is that you shouldn't just go around telling people they are 'babbling' when they use a neologism.

No, they only babble when they expect us to play by their rules, and act indignant when we choose not to.

It's not beyond me to coin a word on the spot during a conversation, if I feel it will facilitate the flow of ideas.

Or obfuscate them.

"Embedded Age Creation" is one of my inventions.

And always good for a laugh.

And you seem to be the only one that believes it or even knows what it means.
You mean aside from the passage from Peter's epistle I often quote; my pastor, who mentioned it in one of his sermons; and my oft-quoted Adam Clarke's Commentary?

That doesn't mean he agrees with you, and you said many times that your pastor is a YEC. Example:

My pastor, who has two doctorates, is YEC, but I'm not

I'll agree with you that my pastor would not agree with me that the earth is 4.57 billion years old; but he would agree with me that it was created just over 6000 years ago.

We are in agreement then, since I said he didn't believe in embedded age.

So a canoe made of 1000-year-old timber is brand new?
How old are you AV? Do you measure your age from the date you were born? From the age of the atoms that make up your body? And given that we replace 96% of those atoms each year which atoms do you choose - or do you measure from the date those atoms swapped out?

The canoe is brand new. The timber is 1000 years old. You would use different evidence to establish the age of either the canoe or the wood.

Thank you for that much needed clarification and distinction.

It is more likely that the earth is closer to 4.57 billion years old than that it is closer to 6000.

Note that the canoe has two ages: one existential (brand new), and one physical (one thousand years).

It is 4.57 billion years old, but it has only been in existence for a little over 6000 years.
