Your pink unicorn analogy is goofy because even you don't believe in the pink unicorn. If you told me there was a pink,unicorn in my yard and really believed it I would then have to make a choice whether or not I believed in the pink unicorn also. So I CAN choose to believe without any physical evidence. I probably won't, but that doesn't mean I can't.

Then you are different in some way because I can't manufacture a sincere belief at will. I can't "choose to believe" in the way you describe, neither in the unicorn nor in anything else. By the way, I don't recall specifying that the unicorn was pink, though it's interesting that you should say that... Hmmm...

Is there any possibility in your mind that you could have simply imagined all of that?

Do you believe Muslims when they say Allah talks to them and they know Allah is real? do you believe alien abductees when they tell you they were abducted by aliens? is their 'evidence' as good as yours?

Is there any possibility in your mind that the people above could have simply imagined all of that? if you do then please tell me the difference between your story and their story?

I am here because I do not understand why people would believe something for what I see as no reason at all, you might say I don't understand because I am not a believer, but how is anyone going to be a believer if they don't understand what it is they are supposed to understand? that must be the reason religions always target children, they don't question they just believe.

Why are Christians so afraid to speak to people who do not believe as they do? can they be talked out of believing? I am sure they can because why else would Christians be permanently on the defensive?

Christians are not "afraid" to talk with non-Christians. What we are not interested in doing, however, is entering into arguments with someone who has no interest in actually asking us why we believe what we do. If you truly do have questions, perhaps it would be better if you asked them, rather than insulting all of the Christians on this forum. If you choose to be condescending and to mock Christian belief, how do you expect any Christian here to believe you have real questions?

It began because people wanted to believe just as people today want to believe, why else would anyone want to hold on to something that is only in their minds and not really there? people convince themselves it's true because they want it to be true.That's the very definition of a delusion, people talk themselves into believing something because it makes them feel good, it's like a drug, once the mind gets used to the drug the person is unable to do without it, religious people can not even imagine what it must be like to be without their religion, the very thought to most of them is unthinkable.

I saw things which I know for a fact DO exist.

Just about every book ever written has something of value even if it's so bad it has nothing of value in it and is use as a lesson on how not to write a book.

The Bible has some values in it but in general it's a catalogue of errors, parables, stories and myths, it has certainly been the source of torment and caused a great deal of damage to people over the centuries, many people have used it for their own ends and many have suffered greatly because of it, I don't think you would have enjoyed being a Christian five hundreds years ago before Henry VIII in England, if you are afraid of your God today it's nothing like the fear you would have felt then, the church walls were covered in the pictures of what happened to people if they even thought about something slightly bad, torment like you could never imagine, religion for people then was all about fear and nothing else, ignorance coupled with fear was a potent weapon that was used against most people of that time.

Because they in turn were been made to believe the fairy tales, all religions are self sustaining, why do you think religions make a bee line for children? because children are more likely to believe the stories and carry them through to adulthood, the only adults who are likely to believe are the damaged and the gullible.

That's the silliest thing I've heard in a while. You know forever churches never catered to the kids. Church was for adults. It wasn't really until the mid to late 20th century that churches started having children specific ministries. And a lot of that came about from the parents who wanted the church to have something for the kids so they didn't have to sit in the main service. Most evangelistic efforts,are aimed,at adults.

All you need do is look around the world, the poor, badly managed and illiterate countries are the most religious, that's where do you find the most damaged and gullible people in those countries, where are the most religious people to be found in the US? in the well educated states or the poor badly educated states?

Haven't you hear that it's harder for a rich,man to enter the kingdom of God than for a camel to go through the eye of a needle? Often people don't find God until they are in a position to need him. I'm sure God would rather have it otherwise but the truth is man is so full of pride that they don't want God until,they see a need for him.

Of course I know that you are only trying to throw it back in my face...but again, you completely missed the point of what Paul was saying about putting away childish things. Paul was referring to life in the world as being a form of childhood that one should not stay in, but outgrow. But there is no argument for someone who is still in the phase of life where the things of maturity have "cooties." As you were, then.
