yes, we are told to follow NONE OF THEM, and all on the forum can witness this, that on the thread called do i have a spiritual gift, they prefer their own words, over scripture.

2 Peter 2:
But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

Hello!

You don't believe there are prophesies anymore? That's fine.

But how do you think the Holy Spirit works in the church in our day and age?

If we don't have gifts, which God gave us so we could serve Him the best, how exactly are some chosen to be leaders and others ministers?

And sure we have the gift of eternal life through Jesus, but is that all?
My question is, why bother seeking the Lord for a spiritual gift when the one man band worship leader in most of our churches fail to give anyone opportunity to use it in the services? The only way that it could be worthwhile for an ordinary member can seek the Lord for a spiritual gift to be used in the service is for the service to be structured according to 1 Corinthians 14:26. Frankly, any church that structures their services according to that verse is very rare and certainly not the norm. It is no surprise that in most Pentecostal churches the gifts have declined and for all intents and purposes ceased. I wonder if that was the cause of the cessation of the gifts after the Apostolic period, when control of ministry was taken away from the ordinary members and placed into the hands of bishops and trained clergy, preventing the free operation of the gifts to the point where ordinary members stopped seeking the Lord for the gifts, and became passive pew sitters ever since right up to modern times?

Anyone who has had a regular diet of having those Scriptures drummed into them, would be so spooked that they would be afraid to even seek God to find out what their spiritual gift is. That is also coupled with the fact that even if the person knew from the Lord what their spiritual gift is, they would be barred from having the opportunity to use it in their church because of the one man band programmed services forcing them to be passive pew sitters.
