You can not evaluate life form by using our standard of life. It is a mistake if you want to evaluate the life form of space aliens.

So rocks are alive, as long as you get to redefine what "alive" means.

The rock on your kitchen counter is still breathing, even it is dying slowly.
If you break "a" rock into two pieces, then you get "two" rocks. I think you can chop the root of some plants to do the same.
If kill a rock is a criminal, then all farmers should be put into jail too.

What about all the asteroids? They've been in space for billions of years. Have they all suffocated and died?

A rock can be detected and identified, and is unique.
A rock is a self sustaining system.

When a rock died, those functions ceased.

No, a rock is not a self sustaining system. There are no functions that keep it "alive," therefore it cannot die. It does not undertake any of these key attributes of life:
-Response to environment
-Homeostasis
-Reproduction

There is evidence behind my opinion as well. Birds change into a variety of birds. It can be observed, repeated and tested.

If a bird can turn into a dinosaur or a fish or something else then we should be able to see the evidence. Where is it?

Birds, dinosaurs, and fish are all varieties of vertebrates.

Also, why do you ignore the transitional fossils?

No, your faith is behind your opinion.

Birds change into a variety of birds. It can be observed, repeated and tested.

There is plenty of evidence for it, but no, speciation in birds was not directly observed, and not repeated in a laboratory. The tests for it do not involve direct observation, but are reproducible and can be applied in any organism.

If a bird can turn into a dinosaur or a fish or something else then we should be able to see the evidence. Where is it?

The evidence is in the same place as the evidence of birds turning into birds: fossils, DNA, biochemistry, embryology. Funny how you accept it in one case and simply chose to ignore it in another. For your information, a fish or dinosaur "turning" into a bird is simply vertebrates changing into a variety of vertebrates.

Rocks respond to environment all the time.
A rock system is trying to move toward homeostasis all the time.
A type of rock do can become more populated or less populated.

Sometimes a pebble will impact a bigger asteroid and it will therefore "grow." Does that count as being alive?

I think so. You may think the pebble is a food to the asteroid.

Biology: "Biology is a natural science concerned with the study of life and living organisms, including their structure, function, growth, evolution, distribution, and taxonomy."
Biology - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Botany: "Botany, also called plant science(s) or plant biology, is the science of plant life and a branch of biology."
Botany - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Biology is the study of life, and Botany is a subcategory of Biology that studies plants. What does that tell you?

Rocks don't respond to anything. They do not actively attempt to maintain any conditions separate from their environment. They do not reproduce. A rock falling off from a cliff and joining others does not constitute replication.

You're not really a creationist.. are you?

Only the ones reading what juve says, I am sure plenty are in ignorant bliss of the fraudulent guy claiming to be a geologist who thinks plants aren't alive and rocks are
