  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well according to the logic of evolutionists, this species of ape should be the closest relative to humans.

My logic? Really? Could you explain that for me, I'm a bit lost at that.

Can they demonstrate this? If they cannot then there is a problem... Evolution should move along collecting dominate traits.

What do you mean by 'dominate traits'?
Self-awareness? Capibility for 'complex' language?

Or facial hair.

If beard growth among human males is a dominate trait, it should be a prominate trait among our closest relative...

Should it? Why?

If this isn't animal is not as close as another without the dominate trait, then evolutionists have a problem...

You've yet to demonstrate why it would be, and why its absence would be a problem.

No, actually Roman Catholocism, Methodists, Baptists - they're all denominations of the same religion - Christianity.

Well, let's just say, "You may call yourself a "Christian" and practice a religion, but Salvation is not based on practice." Salvation is ONLY a personal relationship with GOD through Christ Jesus. Relationship is not founded on religion; however, a religion might point some to the relationship...

I rather suspect that the only member of LittleNippers religion is him and his pastor. Sorry, did I say religion, I meant people who are saved. Um, no, that doesn't work either.

Why should measurments of DNA matter? Nothing has been proven their either... Yet you accept 98% as good enough for your belief.

Really?
So being 'christ-like' doesn't enter into salvation then?

Saint Paul did not have a relationship with GOD through Jesus Christ? I'd say you are very, very, very, WRONG on that account...

Of course He did...and he clearly said that he couldnt judge his own salvation before the end of his life. I listed the verse and you ignored it because it screws up your personal theology.

So what the hell is your argument now? Now that you know that other apes do actually grow beards

Gandi was "Christ-like" from a human perspective. From all that Gandi is reputed to have believed, Salvation through the LORD JESUS CHRIST was not one of them. I cannot say if Gandi was saved. Only Gandi & GOD know for sure, but if what Gandi said is any indication, then Gandi (as "Christ-like" as he may have seemed) died in his sins and is in hell.

I was shown a species/breed of an ape. Now you must show the connection of THAT species/breed to human development. If that one is not as close as another then there is a serious problem with any hypothesis which precludes that humanity is the offspring of apes...

Let me make sure I understand your train of logic here, even though I'm going to lose IQ points in the process...

* You start a thread about apes being unrelated to humans due to lack of shaving/facial hair

* Somebody points out that there are apes with facial hair

* You decide that facial hair must be the most important, perhaps even lone consideration in building a phylogeny of humans with their proposed closest ancestors

* You expect us to take this seriously

Does that about sum it up?

Note that:

A) You won't even admit that your OP was in error. How tremendously honest of you.

B) Instead of showing an ounce of humility and recanting the claim made in your OP, you instead distort this into yet another opportunity to attack evolution by demanding that facial hair = closest relative. You even implied that this was more important than direct DNA comparisons.

All I can say at this point is...

Again, I dont understand what you want. We didnt evolve from the Orangutans, they are our evolutionary cousins.

Do you admit you were wrong to say that only we humans grow beards?

Yes yes God loves you more then anyone who doesn't agree with you - even Gandi.

But what has this got to do with the evolution and creation debate. An evolutionist can't have a relationship with God?

You do know whether an orang-utan is a breed or a species, surely?

If not, you are arguing from a position of extreme ignorance on the subject matter.

You are also aware that no-one is suggesting that humans evolved from orang-utans, aren't you?

Why? Do you think humans evolved from Orangs?

which precludes that humanity is the offspring of apes...

Assuming your parents were human, you are the offspring of apes.

What I am saying is simply that we are not related to oragutans. We are not related to chimp. There is more to consider then DNA. That is not the only factor that makes humans human and apes apes. Billy goats grow beards. My observation is that the apes that are suppose to be our closest living relatives (according to the evolutionist) do not grow a beards. Oragutans are not our closest living relatives according to evolutionists and THEIR DNA standards. Butterbeans do not grow beards either...
