Number one, it is easy to make a book coherent when you can A)read what the authors before you wrote, and B)pick what books go into it.

Number two, the bible hardly has one single theme. The early books have rules for a jewish nation and a vengeful god, the later books are the rules for salvation and a loving god.

Number three, the bible is hardly free from contradiction. Here's and easy one for you - has man seen god? Because the bible gives two different answers to this question.

Man has not seen the TRINITY in its enterity. Man has seen Christ (both pre and post incarnate). No one has seen the Father. Those that have seen Christ have seen the Father. James 2:22

You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by the works.

Notice that it says faith was completed by the works. I guess works really are necessary to have a functioning faith. This verse disproves Protestanism entirely. (Which is why Luther tried to get it thrown out of the Bible, incidentally.)
