Do Apes Shave?

Why is it that apes and monkeys have no beards or mustaches. Apes do not seen to be into body art or body piercing either. This is just an observation. Beards have been around seemingly since Adam and yet I see no connection with primates. Come to think of it, I've seen no ape sporting the "Tarzan" look. After supposed "millions" of years of cavemen hanging around with apes, apes still are not into sporting clothing. In fact, they (unlike us) do not even seem to understand the idea of modesty. It would seem that apart from a few similarities in form, that is where the similarities end. They are animals-----we are humans.

It's funny how some people have a pathological fear of admitting that humans are deeply connected to the rest of the animal kingdom. What's the big deal with admitting the fact that we're animals, too? That we're primates? That we're mammals?

Butter beans share about 98% of our DNA (or so I''m told). I do not seriously believe that I am related to butter bearns. I would think that shaving might be considered a defect. There are better ways to spend time than shaving or getting tattooed or getting a haircut. Do butterbeans shave?

PS I am very thankful I'm a Christian. Christians are not religious----- Christians have a real FRIEND in JESUS. Religion is something man makes up to fill a gap----like Evolution for instance...

This is true, we are different species, and we do not come from other living species of ape. We are apes, however, and do share a common ancestor with other living species of ape. Just as we are mammals and share a common ancestor with other mammals, etc.

Oh, I see. Some guy in a bar told him that we share 98% of our DNA with butter beans (what the heck are those anyways), and that is much more believable to him then all the science in the world.

And, by the way. I don't think all humans, throughout history have worn clothes - unless you call a loincloth clothing. The concept of modesty is a cultural invention. ONly 100 years ago women in North America would have been too modest to expose as much of themselves as many women do today. Who knows, maybe in another 100 years loinclothes will be all the rage again.

wrong. apes are a large group consisting of a number of different species and are defined basically as primates that do not have tails. primates are mammals that have flexible hands and feet, forward looking eyes, larger than statistically average brains and most have opposable thumbs
