Considering its history as 1) an item of pagan idolatry and 2) its use in the torture and crucifixion of countless lives, should we discontinue venerating the cross as a symbol of Christianity? Still, even if all the Christian denominations/sects/organizations could agree to discontinue, what a job that would be to remove ALL items containing crosses (paintings, steeples...). Also, what would we replace it with (if we chose to replace it)? The ICTHUS fish? A dove of peace? I know some (or all of you) are going to say what an impossible job it would be, therefore, why even consider it. As for me, no crosses of any kind.

If you want to minister to peoples of muslim and jewish faiths...then yes...loose the crosses...for them it's a symbol of humiliation and torture...NOT one of hope and resurrection as ut is for Christians.

Just my 2 cents

I'll keep my cross necklace thank you.

The Old Rugged Cross

On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
The emblem of suffering and shame;
And I love that old cross where the dearest and best
For a world of lost sinners was slain.

Refrain
So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown.

O that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
Has a wondrous attraction for me;
For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above
To bear it to dark Calvary.

Refrain

In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,
A wondrous beauty I see,
For ’twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died,
To pardon and sanctify me.

Refrain

To the old rugged cross I will ever be true;
Its shame and reproach gladly bear;
Then He’ll call me some day to my home far away,
Where His glory forever I’ll share.

Refrain

Yahweh's scripture never contained the word "cross". You can trust Him.....or man's feeble translations. Your choice.Constantine, being a Pagan Sun god worshiper, saw the sign of the cross in front of the sun, and said in this sign ,I will conquer. This is the founder of all the paganism that has crept into Christianity. He converted Mithraism with Christianity- he didn't convert to Christianity. He also made the observance of the Sabbath(Saturday) illegal. This is why you may think Sunday is the Lords day. Well, actually, in the sense that Lord=Ba'al, I guess it is the Lord's day, but it isn't Yahwehs set apart day. It is the wordiest of the 10 commandments. I think He is serious about it.

As a christian, I love this hymn, and many others that I play each Sunday in my husband's church. I do treasure the sound theology of the song, the basis of it's message and the humility surrounding how unworthy we are of His grace...

Don't get me wrong here....I treasure the cross on which my Savior died...

However, I was speaking of minsitering and leading the lost to a knowledge of Y'shua...Ya can't start out by reminding them of torture and pain...you start by the love and grace it took for Him to leave His throne above...

Shalom

[SIZE=-1]Please open a book people. I am baffled at the ignorance of this subject. The cross is a word NOT found in scripture. Read that again! It does have a history however. One that predates whom you call Jesus. It has to do with the sun crossing the equator at the vernal equinox. This is also where Easter and Christmas come in. They ALSO have zero to do with Yahweh, the God who inspired the scriptures, and are also, not scriptural.
All false worship venerates the Sun or moon.
Had we been told the truth from our churches, who venerate Mithraism while replacing the Sabbath to SUN day, we would know the significance of "Stauros" and "Histemi". We have the tools today to find this info out easily. We are left without excuse.[/SIZE]

I too am baffled by the abject ignorance on this subject. Someone should indeed open a book, or shall I open some for him?

Whether or not Constantine was a sun worshipper before he became a Christian is irrelevant to anything. According to Lactantius and Eusebius historians who lived at the same time, he was a Christian. Was he perfect? Are you?

You are so right we have the tools to learn the truth. It iis most unfortunate you have not made use of them.

Mithraism did not appear in Rome until 100 years after Jesus. The Mithraists left no written records. NONE! NADA! Nothing is known directly about them. There was NEVER a cross associated with Mithra. Therefore nothing could have been copied from them.

There is no valid, verifiable, historical evidence that any civilization, anywhere, venerated the cross for any reason.

The early church bishop, Tertullian, writing about 200 AD, 125 YEARS BEFORE CONSTANTINE, said that the Greek ;letter "Tau" or "T", in the language he wrote in, was the same shape as the cross.
Tertullian, Against Marcion, CHAP. XIX. (200 AD)

--PROPHECIES OF THE DEATH OF CHRIST.

"He signed them with that very seal of which Ezekiel spake: "The Lord said unto me, Go through the gate, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set the mark Tau upon the foreheads of the men."(14) Now the Greek letter Tau and our own letter T is the very form of the cross, which He predicted would be the sign on our 341 foreheads in the true universal Jerusalem."

According to most reliable sources, see URLs below, the letter "Tau/Taw" in Ancient or Paleo-Hebrew was written as [size=+1]+[/size] It is also interesting to note that the Paleo-Hebrew letter "Tayth" is another supposedly pagan form, a cross with a circle around it.

The only word in the Greek language to describe a [size=+1]+[/size] shaped object is and has always been, stauros. The word used in the NT to describe the instrument upon which Yeshua HaMaschiach was crucified is Stauros! Nothing has been changed or added!

According to Roman historians of the period, the Romans used only three types of wooden instrument for executions. A gallows for hanging by the neck, a pointed stake upon which the condemned person was impaled, through their "secret parts" and a [size=+1]+[/size] or T shaped cross.
Yonder I see instruments of torture, not indeed of a single kind, but differently contrived by different peoples; some hang their victims with head toward the ground, some impale their private parts, others stretch out their arms on a fork-shaped gibbet; I see cords, I see scourges, and for each separate limb and each joint there is a separate engine of torture!

In all the early church leaders writings whenever a stauros/cross is described it is described as [size=+1]+[/size]. Note all these early church leaders wrote between 100 and 300 years before Constantine.
The Epistle of Barnabas, found appended to the Codex Sinaiticus, indicates this type of crucifixion! The Epistle of Barnabas has been dated to the reign of Vespasian (70-79 A.D.)
Notice chapter 12:

Again, when Israel is made war upon by foreigners [Amalekites], He [God] speaks to Moses; and in order to warn them [the Israelites], by means of this very war, that they had been delivered over because of their sins, the Spirit suggests to Moses that he should make a TYPE OF THE CROSS and of Him who was to suffer. He thus intimates that, unless they hope in Him, they will forever be subject to war. Moses, therefore, placed shield upon shield where the fray was thick; and then, standing where he towered above all the rest, he EXTENDED HIS ARMS.

By this sign of the cross also Amalek was conquered by Jesus through Moses. In Exodus Moses said to Jesus: "Choose thee out men, and go forth, and order yourselves with Amalek until the morrow. Behold, I will stand on the top of the hill, and the rod of God in mine hand. And it came to pass, when Moses lifted up his hands, Israel prevailed; but when Moses had let down his hands, Amalek waxed strong. But the hands of Moses were heavy; and they took a stone, and placed it under him, and he sat upon it and Aaron and Hur held up his hands, on the one side and on the other side; and the hands of Moses were made steady even to the setting of the sun. And Jesus routed Amalek and all his people. That in this sign of the Cross is salvation for all people who are marked on their foreheads. In Ezekiel the Lord says: "Pass through the midst of Jerusalem, and thou shalt mark the sign Tau/[size=+1]+[/size] upon the men's foreheads, who groan and grieve for the iniquities which are done in the midst of them." Also in the same place: "Go and smite, and do not spare your eyes. Have no pity on the old man, and the youth, and the virgin, and slay little children and women, that they may be utterly destroyed. But ye shall not touch any one upon whom the Tau/[size=+1]+[/size] is written, and begin with my holy places themselves."

Every piece of timber(8) which is fixed in the ground in an erect position is a part of a cross, and indeed the greater portion of its mass. But an entire cross is attributed to us, with its transverse beam,(9) of course, and its projecting seat. Because even our own body assumes as its natural position the latent and concealed outline of a cross. Since the head rises upwards, and the back takes a straight direction, and the shoulders project laterally, if you simply place a man with his arms and hands outstretched, you will make the general outline of a cross."

Wherefore, but because in a battle fought in the name of that Lord who was one day to fight against the devil, the shape was necessary of that very cross through which Jesus was to win the victory?"

Archeological evidence of crosses in 1st Century Jerusalem tombs.

Many falsely argue that the cross did not appear in Christian art or use until the time of Constantine. Evidently the early believers in Jerusalem didn't read Hislop (TTB), Russell (JW), or Armstrong (WWCG), for at this site, "The Jerusalem Christian Review", are more than eight articles describing tombs and burial vaults in 1st century Jerusalem, which were sealed in 41 AD, with inscriptions of crosses. In many of the photos the inscriptions are clearly visible. There are also multiple inscriptions with the names IESOUS in Greek and YESHUA, in ancient Hebrew. Two of the photos clearly show the name YESHUA. These are the sites; Volume 9, Issues 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 9, and 10 and Volume 10, Issue 2

Jewish Encyclopedia - CRUCIFIXION: By : Kaufmann Kohler Emil G. Hirsch

The act of putting to death by nailing or binding to a cross. Among the modes of Capital Punishment known to the Jewish penal law, crucifixion is not found; the "hanging" of criminals "on a tree," mentioned in Deut. xxi. 22, was resorted to in New Testament times only after lapidation (Sanh. vi. 4; Sifre, ii. 221, ed. Friedmann, Vienna, 1864). A Jewish court could not have passed a sentence of death by crucifixion without violating the Jewish law. The Roman penal code recognized this cruel penalty from remote times (Aurelius Victor Cæsar, 41). It may have developed out of the primitive custom of "hanging" ("arbori suspendere") on the "arbor infelix," which was dedicated to the gods of the nether world. Seneca ("Epistola," 101) still calls the cross "infelix lignum." Trees were often used for crucifying convicts (Tertullian, "Apologia," viii. 16). Originally only slaves were crucified; hence "death on the cross" and "supplicium servile" were used indiscriminately (Tacitus, "Historia," iv. 3, 11). Later, provincial freedmen of obscure station ("humiles") were added to the class liable to this sentence. Roman citizens were exempt under all circumstances (Cicero, "Verr." i. 7; iii. 2, 24, 26; iv. 10 et seq.). The following crimes entailed this penalty: piracy, highway robbery, assassination, forgery, false testimony, mutiny, high treason, rebellion (see Pauly-Wissowa, "Real-Encyc." s.v. "Crux"; Josephus, "B. J." v. 11, § 1). Soldiers that deserted to the enemy and slaves who denounced their masters ("delatio domini")were also punished by death on the cross.

Mode of Execution.

The crosses used were of different shapes. Some were in the form of a ,
V04p373001.jpg
others in that of a St. Andrew's cross,
V04p373002.jpg
, while others again were in four parts,
V04p373003.jpg
. The more common kind consisted of a stake ("palus") firmly embedded in the ground ("crucem figere") before the condemned arrived at the place of execution (Cicero, "Verr." v. 12; Josephus, "B. J." vii. 6, § 4) and a cross-beam ("patibulum"), bearing the "titulus"—the inscription naming the crime (Matt. xxvii. 37; Luke xxiii. 38; Suetonius, "Cal." 38). It was this cross-beam, not the heavy stake, which the condemned was compelled to carry to the scene of execution (Plutarch, "De Sera Num. Vind." 9; Matt. ib.; John xix. 17; See Cross). The cross was not very high, and the sentenced man could without difficulty be drawn up with ropes ("in crucem tollere, agere, dare, ferre"). His hands and feet were fastened with nails to the cross-beam and stake (Tertullian, "Adv. Judæos," 10; Seneca, "Vita Beata," 19); though it has been held that, as in Egypt, the hands and feet were merely bound with ropes (see Winer, "B. R." i. 678). The execution was always preceded by flagellation (Livy, xxxiv. 26; Josephus, "B. J." ii. 14, § 9; v. 11, § 1); and on his way to his doom, led through the most populous streets, the delinquent was exposed to insult and injury. Upon arrival at the stake, his clothes were removed, and the execution took place. Death was probably caused by starvation or exhaustion, the cramped position of the body causing fearful tortures, and ultimately gradual paralysis. Whether a foot-rest was provided is open to doubt; but usually the body was placed astride a board ("sedile"). The agony lasted at least twelve hours, in some cases as long as three days. To hasten death the legs were broken, and this was considered an act of clemency (Cicero, "Phil." xiii. 27). The body remained on the cross, food for birds of prey until it rotted, or was cast before wild beasts. Special permission to remove the body was occasionally granted. Officers (carnifex and triumviri) and soldiers were in charge.

This cruel way of carrying into effect the sentence of death was introduced into Palestine by the Romans. Josephus brands the first crucifixion as an act of unusual cruelty ("Ant." xiii. 14, § 2), and as illegal. But many Jews underwent this extreme penalty (ib. xx. 6, § 2; "Vita," § 75; "B. J." ii. 12, § 6; 14, § 9; v. 11, § 1; Philo, ii. 529).

During the times of unrest which preceded the rise in open rebellion against Rome (about 30-66 B.C.), "rebels" met with short shrift at the hands of the oppressor. They were crucified as traitors. The sons of Judas the Galilean were among those who suffered this fate.

http://www.jewishencyclopedia.com/view.jsp?artid=905&letter=C

An ancient Greek poem describes it this way:
"Punished with limbs outstretched, they see the stake as their fate;
they are fastened (and) nailed to it in the most bitter torment,
evil food for birds of prey and grim pickings for dogs."[1]
Psuedo-Manetho, Apotelesmatica 4:198ff, cited by Martin Hengel, Crucifixion (Fortress Press, translated 1977), p. 9.

http://www.jesuswalk.com/lessons/crucifixion.htm

There are four basic types of iconographic representations of the cross: the crux quadrata, or Greek cross, with four equal arms; the crux immissa, or Latin cross, whose base stem is longer than the other three arms; the crux commissa, in the form of the Greek letter tau, sometimes called St. Anthony's cross; and crux decussata, named from the Roman decussis, or symbol of the numeral 10, also known as St. Andrew's cross. Tradition favours the crux immissa as that on which Christ died, but some believe that it was a crux commissa. The many variations and ornamentations of processional, altar, and heraldic crosses, of carved and painted crosses in churches, graveyards, and elsewhere, are developments of these four types.

Cross forms were used as symbols, religious or otherwise, long before the Christian Era, but it is not always clear whether they were simply marks of identification or possession or were significant for belief and worship. Two pre-Christian cross forms have had some vogue in Christian usage. The ancient Egyptian hieroglyphic symbol of life—the ankh, a tau cross surmounted by a loop and known as crux ansata—was adopted and extensively used on Coptic Christian monuments. The swastika (q.v.), called crux gammata, composed of four Greek capitals of the letter gamma, is marked on many early Christian tombs as a veiled symbol of the cross.

Before the time of the emperor Constantine in the 4th century, Christians were extremely reticent about portraying the cross because too open a display of it might expose them to ridicule or danger. After Constantine converted to Christianity, he abolished crucifixion as a death penalty and promoted, as symbols of the Christian faith, both the cross and the chi-rho monogram of the name of Christ. The symbols became immensely popular in Christian art and funerary monuments from c. 350.

For several centuries after Constantine, Christian devotion to the cross centred on the victory of Christ over the powers of evil and death, and realistic portrayal of his suffering was avoided. The earliest crucifixes (crosses containing a representation of Christ) depict Christ alive, with eyes open and arms extended, his Godhead manifest, even though he is pierced and dead in his manhood. By the 9th century, however, artists began to stress the realistic aspects of Christ's suffering and death. Subsequently, Western portrayals of the Crucifixion, whether painted or carved, exhibited an increasing finesse in the suggestion of pain and agony. Romanesque crucifixes often show a royal crown upon Christ's head, but later Gothic types replaced it with a crown of thorns. In the 20th century a new emphasis emerged in Roman Catholicism, especially for crucifixes in liturgical settings. Christ on the cross is crowned and vested as a king and priest, and the marks of his suffering are much less prominent.

After the 16th-century Protestant Reformation, the Lutherans generally retained the ornamental and ceremonial use of the cross. The Reformed churches, however, resisted such use of the cross until the 20th century, when ornamental crosses on church buildings and on communion tables began to appear. The Church of England retained the ceremonial signing with the cross in the rite of Baptism. Since the mid-19th century, Anglican churches have witnessed a revival of the use of the cross. The crucifix, however, is almost entirely confined to private devotional use. See also True Cross; crucifixion.

Crucifixion an important method of capital punishment, particularly among the Persians, Seleucids, Carthaginians, and Romans from about the 6th century BC to the 4th century AD. Constantine the Great, the first Christian emperor, abolished it in the Roman Empire in AD 337, out of veneration for Jesus Christ, the most famous victim of crucifixion.

Punishment

There were various methods of performing the execution. Usually, the condemned man, after being whipped, or “scourged,” dragged the crossbeam of his cross to the place of punishment, where the upright shaft was already fixed in the ground. Stripped of his clothing either then or earlier at his scourging, he was bound fast with outstretched arms to the crossbeam or nailed firmly to it through the wrists. The crossbeam was then raised high against the upright shaft and made fast to it about 9 to 12 feet (approximately 3 metres) from the ground. Next, the feet were tightly bound or nailed to the upright shaft. A ledge inserted about halfway up the upright shaft gave some support to the body; evidence for a similar ledge for the feet is rare and late. Over the criminal's head was placed a notice stating his name and his crime. Death, apparently caused by exhaustion or by heart failure, could be hastened by shattering the legs (crurifragium) with an iron club, so that shock and asphyxiation soon ended his life.

Crucifixion was most frequently used to punish political or religious agitators, pirates, slaves, or those who had no civil rights. In 519 BC Darius I, king of Persia, crucified 3,000 political opponents in Babylon; in 88 BC Alexander Jannaeus, the Judaean king and high priest, crucified 800 Pharisaic opponents; and in about AD 32 Pontius Pilate had Jesus of Nazareth put to death by crucifixion.

Had we been told the truth from our churches, who venerate Mithraism while replacing the Sabbath to SUN day

Ah, the joys of the English language. And of course, everybody speaks English, don't they? Look at the Greek language, for example..."Sabbato" for Saturday, "Kyriaki" for Sunday - literally, the Lord's day. In most languages, Sunday has no relation to the sun at all.

Since there are no “crosses” in Scripture, there must have been another basis for Constantine’s symbolism. The Greek word stauros, meaning “upright pole” was changed to the Latin crux, for “cross” by the Roman Catholic Church in their Vulgate to serve Satan and legitimize Constantine. The first religious use of a cross was for Tammuz, the Babylonian Son of the Sun. Catholics still celebrate his birthday every Christmas. Crosses attached to or superimposed on circles were the most common Satanic symbols in pagan religions. The Egyptian Ankh, the Hindu Swastika, the Druid “Peace Sign,” and the Roman Chi Rho are all examples. The scientific symbol for “woman,” a circular sun with an external cross, was first used in Babylon to designate the “Mother of God.” The biological male designation, a circle with an arrow emanating from it, is also of Babylonian origin. It signified the sun, represented by the circle, sending a ray, represented by the arrow, out to Mother Earth, impregnating her at the Festival of Ishtar, celebrated on the Sunday nearest the Vernal Equinox. True to the faith of Constantine, Catholics celebrate the Sun’s achievement each year on Easter Sunday, nine months before the Sun God’s nativity on December 25th.
There are several explanations for the origin of the cross in Satanic sun god lore. It represented the first letter of Tammuz’s name. And the sun “crosses” the equator at the Vernal Equinox, the day the Babylonians believe the sun impregnated mother earth giving birth to Tammuz nine months later at the Winter Solstice. Pagans celebrated Easter Sunday by baking sun-shaped rolls with crosses cut into them. The custom continues with the baking of Hot Cross Buns today. Constantine, and his “Sign of the Cross,” ritualistically imitated by all Catholics today, elevated the Satanic symbol to universal acclaim.
As bad as all this is, it only gets worse. The High Priest of the astrological fertility cult the Magi brought from Babylon to Pergamos held the title of “Chief Bridge Builder,” meaning “the one who spans the gap between mortals and gods.” In Latin this title is written “Pontifex Maximus” or Pontiff for short. In keeping with the arrogance of the Caesars, it was adopted by Constantine in 325 CE. The emperor also called himself “the Vicar [the person who is authorized to perform the functions] of Christ.” This too was contrary to Scripture because Yahshua alone is the bridge between man and God. He said, “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the Messiah Yahshua.” (1Timothy 2:5)
In a move that many see as positive, Constantine declared an end to Christian persecution. Forgetting for a moment that persecution actually ended under Diocletian in 303CE, twenty years before Constantine became Emperor, the announcement was counter productive. It effectively ended the effectiveness of the martyrs’ witness—a testimony which had by then inspired an awesome number of Greeks and Romans to abandon paganism and follow The Way. Recognizing their numbers and growth, Constantine’s edict was designed to consolidate his power. There is no better way to control the masses than to claim the authority of God. That is why he declared that Christianity was the official state religion—a religion he himself was to officiate. Never mind that Yahweh never intended His covenant relationship to be a “religion,” much less political. But the Devil and his disciple had other plans.
As the last Smyrna Epoch persecution took place, it was almost as if Satan grumbled to himself, “This isn’t working. I need a new strategy.” Under pressure, the Anointed Assembly had not died out; it had grown stronger. It was hard to seduce hypocrites and heretics to corruption when false illusions cost more than the breath it took to profess them. Persecution kept the false prophets at bay, but the politicized church opened the flood gates of hell. So, Halal ben Shachar, the Arrogant Morning Star (a.k.a. the sun god), figured, if murder and mutilation wouldn’t prevail against the Ekklesia, maybe success would. So he had his pal Constantine “convert” to “Christianity,” and, as Roman emperors were wont to do, he issued an edict that made the Roman world a Christian domain. The reason “converted” is in quotes is because Constantine actually converted Roman paganism, called Mithraism, into Christianity, rather than converting himself. The legacy of that solitary act has cursed us all, even to this day.
While the Called-Out Assembly came out of the catacombs, the celebration was short lived. Constantine had no intention of actually letting Yahweh prevail over him—he was the emperor of Rome, after all. Besides, economically and socially, paganism would have to be accommodated for the Roman economy to flourish. So he dressed up the old celestial holidays in new, “Christian” costumes. It’s called syncretization, but what it meant is that the most vital Scriptural truths were surrendered to Satan. Forgetting Tabernacles, the Winter Solstice Festival that commemorated the son of the sun god’s birthday in pagan Babylon, Egypt, Greece, and Rome, was renamed Christmas. The Church kept the pagan tree and its decorations, the yule designation, mistletoe, circular wreaths symbolizing the sun, and the exchange of presents. Simultaneously, they forget Passover, replacing it with the Babylonian-derived fertility bash, Ishtar. It had always been celebrated on the Sunday nearest the spring equinox so that nine months later, the Son of the Sun could be born. This purely pagan abomination was syncretized by the Roman Catholic Church to commemorate “Christ’s” resurrection. (In actuality, Yahshua’s resurrection occurred before sunrise)
Satan being disingenuous, not stupid, had his Catholic cronies corrupt the Passover message by attributing the resurrection to Babylon’s most important festival. So arrogant were they, the “Church” didn’t even bother changing the name, day, or symbols for Easter. And sadly, Protestants were no less cooperative. The authorized and thus politicized clerics who translated the King James Bible actually replaced the name “Passover” with “Easter” in their “Bible.” Both Catholics and Protestants retained the Babylonian cross, designating when the sun crossed the equator of mother earth at the equinox. Both encouraged the slaughter and consumption of swine, known today as the Easter Ham, although it was expressly forbidden in the Old Covenant and specifically denounced in Isaiah 65. Both encouraged their faithful to scoff at Yahshua’s sacrifice by teaching children about the Babylonian fertility cult’s “Easter Bunny,” a rabbit whose “eggs” were dipped in the colors of spring. It was perfect in a demonic sort of way.
Forgetting the Fourth Commandment and it’s spiritual, historic, and prophetic significance, Constantine, the founder of Catholicism, condemned the Sabbath at the dawn of the Pergamos Era, making worship on that day a capital offense. He wanted his idol, Mithras, the sun god, worshiped on Sun-days. While many have filled entire books with Constantine’s satanically inspired perversions of Yahweh’s teachings, I simply want to provide a sampling.
Here is an interesting one: Constantine’s historian, Euebius, recorded the following imperial edict in 321 CE, “All things whatsoever that it was the duty to do on the Sabbath, these we have transferred to the Lord’s Day.” Ba’al must have been pleased. Then he called Sunday “Sol Invictus Mithras”—“the day of the Unconquerable Sun, Mithras.” Under penalty of death he decreed that all within his empire must cease work on Sun-Day to honor the sun god. America’s Blue Laws are an abominable legacy.
Forgetting that Rome murdered the Messiah, and forgetting that Yahshua was a Yahudi(Jew), Constantine at Satan’s urging went on to say of the chosen people: “We will have nothing to do with the cursed wretches who killed our Lord—nothing in common with the hostile rabble of the Yahudim.” And with that blow the Torah was replaced by the edicts of man. The foundation of Yahweh’s message, the four thousand year old prophetic witness that had provided mankind’s lone light was extinguished. To have “nothing in common with the Yahudim” is to exclude salvation as it comes through the generosity of Yahshua, a Yahudi. With this edict, all Catholics and all who follow their guidance would be damned, as mankind’s only chance of forming a relationship with Yahweh had been designated illegal by a religion.
Satan left another fingerprint on Constantine’s quote. The “Lord’s Day” is Satan’s day. The name of the sun god worshiped by the Phoenicians and Babylonians, Ba’al, means “Lord.” For example, the Babylonian’s observed the Ba’al Beriyth, known as the “Lord’s Covenant.” Lord/Ba’al and his alias’ Adonis, Tammuz, Osiris, and Bacchus, were prototypes and forerunners of Mithras. Halal ben Shachar, the pretend sungod, wanted to lord over men—possessing an attitude and ambition he shared with the Catholic clergy. Tying it all together, Ba’al was worshiped in the likeness of a bull, a golden calf with a circular sun disk between his horns. And that leads us right back to Easter Sunday, the day the sun crosses the equator at the vernal equinox. Each year when that happens the sun is in the constellation of Taurus—the bull.
The prophet Jeremiah, speaking for Yahweh, revealed God’s perspective on this subject. The mystery religion of Lord/Ba’al had spread from Babylon to Yisra’el. There it had been accepted by some and tolerated by others, leaving the chosen people in a state of decay. Yahweh begins by contrasting His relationship to the politicized religious schemes of men. “‘I am a God/’Elohiym of (min) close personal relationships (qarob – approachable and timeless kinship),’ declares Yahweh, ‘and not a Deity/’Elohiym of distant separation (rachowq – remoteness)?’ ‘Can a man conceal himself from Me, hiding secrets that I do not see (ra’ah – observe, consider, and attend to)?’ declares Yahweh. ‘Do I not fulfill abundantly, accomplishing a satisfactory confirmation(male – completely satisfy and proclaim sufficiently) in the heavens (samayim) and earth?’ proclaims Yahweh.” (Jeremiah 23:23-24) Yahweh has amply demonstrated His existence in the cosmos with the enormity of its magnitude and on earth with the complexity of its life. He has made Himself known sufficiently through His Word and the witness of His people. And He has proven that He inspired what we are reading by fulfilling abundant prophecies.
Yet mankind, self-serving and self-reliant has elected to deceive, destroy, and damn in an ill-fated quest for sex, power, and money. False prophets have become as deadly as they have become ubiquitous, as ignorant and they are arrogant. They occupy our statehouses, media houses, educational institutions, businesses and sanctuaries. There is no escaping them or their schemes. “‘I have heard (shama’ – received the news and reports of) enchanters (‘ashaph – sorcerers and magicians), prophets who speak avowing (‘amar – revealing their hearts and minds, arrogantly boasting, inferring, promising and commanding) falsely (sheqer – with misleading lies and deceptions, mistaken beliefs, disappointing falsehoods, deceit, fraud, and irrational vanity) in My name saying (‘amar), “I have a dream. I have a dream (chalam – a restoring revelation that will make us strong)!” When and for how long (matay ‘ad – to what degree, end, or purpose) shall this be (yesh – exist) in the hearts and minds(leb – inner nature, inclination, understanding, and thinking) of prophets who communicate deceptively (sheqer – who verbally convey misleading lies and deceptions based upon mistaken beliefs which will disappoint, who convey falsehoods, frauds, and irrational vain shams)? For how long and for what purpose (matay ‘ad) will the spokesmen and heathen prophets (nambiy’) of treachery deceive (tormah – of fraud and deception delude; from ramah, an elevated place or position of illicit religious worship which beguiles and betrays, treacherously tricking) their hearts and minds(leb – inner natures, inclinations, understandings, and thinking)(Jeremiah 23:25-26)

There is no doubt Yahweh knows us. He is under no illusions. Too bad the same cannot be said for humankind. Look at what we have done to ourselves in spite of Yahweh’s prophetic warning. “They invent and scheme (chashab – calculate, fabricate, plot, and contrive, reckoning and imputing devices, planning to determine value and values) to cause My family (‘am – people, specifically Yisra’el) to forget and ignore (shakach – mislay and become oblivious to) My personal name (shem – proper designation, reputation, renown, information, title, honor, character, authority, and position) by their dreams (chalowm – series of feelings, images, and revelations) which through relationships and associations (‘asher) theyrelate and recount (caphar – rehearse, declare, and record; officially enumerating in written material) to mankind (‘iysh), to friends, neighbors, companions, fellow citizens and associates (rea’). Sadly broken and cowed through intimidation (ka’ah – to have one’s resolve and courage subdued and destroyed; to be disheartened and discouraged) as their fathers ceased to care about, forgot and ignored (shakach – mislaid, allowing to wither, becoming oblivious to) My name because of Ba’al (Ba’al – the proper name of the supreme male sungod divinity of the Babylonians, Phoenicians, Canaanites, and now Israelites meaning Lord, Owner, and Master)?’” (Jeremiah 23:27)
Proving Yahweh right, the translators of every popular English Bible carelessly and inaccurately replaced Yahweh’s personal name with “LORD” and yet carefully and accurately transliterated Satan’s moniker as “Ba’al.” These clerics, scholars, and pastors demonstrate a greater respect for the Adversary than they do for the Creator and Savior.
Re’a, meaning “fellow countrymen, neighbors, ethnic groups, companions, and associates,” also implies people of “like mind, reasoning, and thought.” As such it speaks to the West today, people who have been conditioned to think and respond collectively, embracing diversity and multiculturalism as an interrelated family of man. In that the same two Hebrew letters (רֹעַ) also signify “evil, wickedness, rotten ugliness” and “immorality,” we have a good idea of what Yahweh thinks of man’s replacement morality—political correctness.
This passage also explains the what, how, and why of the Catholic Church’s egregious and destructive deceptions during the Pergamos period. They not only mislaid Yahweh’s name, causing mankind to forget the proper designation of their Creator and Savior, though their associations with governments and academia, they caused men to cower under their intimidating ruthlessness, misleading countless souls to their temporal and eternal doom and damnation. Each and every pope from Constantine to this present day has been a “false prophet, an enchanter who avowed that which was not true, revealing their hearts and minds, arrogantly boasting false promises, misleading lies, mistaken beliefs, and irrational vanities.”
There is no greater testament to this than Emperor Constantine’s most fatal blow to humanity. It occurred at the much politicized and ruthlessly commandeered Nicene Council in 325 CE. There, the “unification of doctrines” created the Roman “Universal,” or “Catholic” Church. Forgetting that Jerusalem was, and always will be, Yahweh’s beloved and set-apart city, these men in their lust for power, selected Constantinople and then Rome. Never mind that Rome allies with the Antichrist in Revelation, or that the fourth beast of Daniel’s prophecy was Rome, or that Rome was the most militaristic and pagan of nations, the most morally perverse place on earth, the nation which crucified the Messiah, the nation which ruthlessly savaged Yahweh’s chosen people, the nation which devastated and then renamed the Promised Land, calling Yisra’el, Palistina. “Catholic” was no better. The name was derived from the Latin catholicus, meaning “universal,” signifying the “Church’s” universal authority. And recognizing that “Church” is based upon the name of a pagan sun deity, the supreme deity of the Romans, Constantine’s Council was a universal abomination.
With Pergamos, Satan had found “Christianity’s” Achilles heel. The “Church” embraced the very thing Yahshua had commended the assembly at Ephesus for resisting: the Nicolaitan heresy and the doctrine of Balaam—compromise, human dominion, and overt Satanism. Starting with Constantine, the Roman Catholic Church swallowed these poisons whole. By accommodating pagan rites into the liturgy of the Church, a religion was born. The intimate, eternal, and loving personal relationship Yahweh desired was scrapped for a stifling and deadly dogma.
For the Pergamosians, good works remained a priority, out of habit, at least for a while, but the rationale for them was on its way out. Love was being replaced with duty, truth with deception, choice with compulsion, and relationship with religion. The time historians paint as Christianity’s brightest hour was the Ekklesia’s darkest.
Within this “religious” context, the God who pronounces judgment and absolves from judgment instructed John to write: “To the messenger of the out-calling (ekklesia) in Pergamos write,‘These things relates He who holds the swift and sharp (oxus – keen and quick) double-edged (rhomphaia – dual mouthed) spear (distomos – lance worn on the right shoulder; that which pierces the soul; from stoma—mouth, by implication language [always used in reference to judgment]): I see and know (eido) the household (oikeios – the family, adherents, and community) where (pou) you reside (datoikeo – dwell and are governed), the location where (hopou – the cause, case and rationale of; from hos, meaning who and what, and pou, meaning the place where) the Adversary Satan’s (Satanas – the Accuser’s, the one who opposes, the evil spirit’s) seat of power (thronos - throne) is.” (Revelation 2:12-13)
Yahshua begins by calling the most religious place on earth the seat of Satan’s power. According to God there is a direct correlation between religion and the Devil. The Adversary uses the universalism conceived by Constantine during the Pergamos period to deceive, destroy, and damn the unwary. Prophetically, Catholicism has just been called “Satan’s Household.”
In the context of time, this indictment is especially chilling. There is no denying that the Pergamos period coincides with the end of Christian persecution spoken of in the Smyrna letter and the birth of the hierarchal church of compromise addressed in this epistle. The One who holds the lance capable of piercing souls says of this assembly and its adherents, “You live and are governed by the people and place where Satan does his bidding.” Prophetically, Catholicism is being called a community of and for demons.
So in this most hellish place and time, the Redeemer reminds us of Jeremiah’s admonition. “You have the power to accomplish through and are received by way of (krateo – are strengthened and are possessed by carefully and faithfully holding fast to) My proper name (onoma – deriving benefits through remembering, mentioning, and using the authority associated with My name). Do not disavow or contradict (arneomai – reject, refuse, abrogate, or deny) your conviction in the truth (pistis – trustworthiness and reliability) of Me (mou), even also (kai) in the days in which Antipas was My trustworthy and trusting(pistos) witness(martus – genuine example and martyr), who was killed (apokteino – separated and slain) beside you (para – among you in opposition, holding a contrary view), where (hopou – the cause, the case, and the raison d'être) of the Adversary Satan (Satanas - the accuser who opposes) dwells, influences, pervades, prompts, and governs (katoikeo – permanently resides and is present)(Revelation 2:13)
The Pergamos ekklesia earned but a solitary line of praise, one that was more useful advice than a commendation. And it was for something we “Christians” no longer understand or do: “how to rely upon and use the power and strength” of Yahshua’s “name.” Not one in a thousand “Christians” even knows Yahweh’s name. We have had done to us, courtesy of the Catholic Church, what the Jews of Jeremiah’s day had done to them by way of their priests. Men have schemed to cause us to forget that salvation, relationship, and life all flow from a singular source: Yahweh and His redemptive manifestation, Yahshua.
The second lesson is that “trust” in the “trustworthiness” of Yahshua is what is essential, not our faith or even our faithfulness. To receive His gift of eternal life, to be productive as a witness, we must not disavow or contradict, reject, refuse, or deny the truthfulness and reliability of Yahshua.
Third, conviction, when it’s grounded in truth, makes one a worthy witness. Antipas was trustworthy because he was trusting, and for no other reason. Antipas, whose name means “in opposition to the fathers,” was a contrarian and thus antiestablishment. His example was worthy of Divine acclaim because he opposed the religious influence and pervasive government of Satan that was evolving in his presence. This is the third time in just three letters, that Yahshua has praised what the world condemns: intolerance.
And finally, this prophetic indictment of the Roman Catholic Church is even more stinging than the last. The Pergamos period marks the time in which a “pervasive and influential governing authority” began to “permanently reside in the presence of the people” in open opposition to those with the conviction to witness to the truth. For over a thousand years since the founding of Roman Catholicism by Constantine, they have condemned all who have dared expose their deceit, calling Yahshua’s martus “heretics,” and then killing them.
The doctrine of the Balaam, discussed in this next passage, can be found in Numbers chapter 22-25. It is also covered in Second Peter. Admonitions against the religion of Lord/Ba’al form the basis of Hosea and Jeremiah. Scripture tells us that Balaam was a pagan priest who practiced witchcraft in Babylon. He was hired by Balak, king of Moab, to curse the Israelites. When Yahweh restrained Balaam, his shrewd and wicked religious clerics invited the Yahudim to the licentious feast of Baal-peor. We find the results of this evil assembly in the verse: “Yisra’el remained in [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]tim (sitiym – those who hate, are opposed, and bear a grudge, cherishing animosity, resisting and acting adversarially). The people (‘am – family) became profane, defiled, desecrated and polluted (halal – pierced and wounded, disrespectful and irreverent, acting dishonorably) committing acts of fornication, becoming harlots and harlots (zanah – as and with unfaithful religious cult prostitutes) in sexual intercourse with (‘el) the daughters (bath – the young girls) of Moab (Mow’ab – a son of Lot by his eldest daughter; meaning from her father). And they called (qara’ – summoned and invited) the people (‘am – family) to the sacrifices (zebach – offerings of animals killed and presented as an act of worship, expiation, or propitiation to a deity) to their gods (‘elohiym). And the people ate and bowed down, prostrating themselves in homage (shachah) to their gods. Yisra’eljoined (tsamad – attached herself and became bound together with, shared common beliefs and worshiped) Ba’al-Pa’owr (ba’al pa’owr – the Lord’s wide and gaping opening). Yahweh’s anger was kindled (harah – became hot and furious, burning against) Yisra’el.” (Numbers 25:1-3)
Ba’al (Lord), Bel (Lord), Ba’al-Pa’owr (the Lord’s Opening), and Ba’al-Beriyth (the Lord’s Covenant) are derivations and expansions on Halal’s name and title, “Lord”—which may be why the basis of his name, “halal,” was imbedded in this passage. In this light it’s hard to fathom why every English Bible erases Yahweh’s personal name from the text He inspired and replaces it with the name of the false god the real God just condemned.
The doctrine of Ba’al is for those who dwell in [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]tim—“the place where God is opposed and hated, the place of the adversary who bears a grudge.” Satan found one of mankind’s biggest weaknesses, a gapping hole he could exploit—sexual perversion. It is little wonder that the Socialist Secular Humanists advocating Political Correctness and the New World Order, advocate licentiousness. But be forewarned. If you choose to defile yourself irreverently, committing acts of fornication in accordance with man’s revised morality, bowing down to their false gods and errant doctrines, and share their beliefs, you will be seen as having joined them. Attached to them, you will share their fate, enduring Yahweh’s anger.

Now that you know who the players are, and what’s at stake, here’s what Yahshua said next to the Pergamosians.
Yahshua transitions from His lifesaving advice to the name of the adversary in a single word: “In opposition (allah – as the antithesis and on the contrary) I hold (echo – possess, have, and view) a few things against you, because you hold fast to (echo - have relations with, are possessed by, and are joined to) that place where (ekei) the control and power (krateo – the ruling Lords and Masters possess, obtain, seize, manipulate, and retain) the doctrines and teachings (didache – public religious instructions) of Balaam(a transliteration of the name of the false and demonic Babylonian prophet), who taught (didasko – delivered a discourse as an official teacher, preacher, or politician to) Balak (the Moabite king) to throw (ballo – to scatter not caring where something falls, to acquiesce to someone regardless of the result) a snare (skandalon – the trigger of a trap, a stumbling block that leads to entrapment and death, an impediment placed in one’s way) in front of (enopion – in the presence of, before and against) the children of IEL (placeholder for Israel, the Greek transliteration of Yisra’el, meaning, those who endure with and are empowered by God), to eat things sacrificed to idols (eidolothuton – compound of eidolon, an image or likeness real of imaginary, and thuo, to sacrifice), and to commit prostitution, engage in immorality, and practice idolatry (porneuo – sexual acts with harlots, fornication, the defilement of the body for money, indulgences, the worship of false gods, and fertility cult religious practices). Indeed (kai), in this manner (houto) you likewise (homoios – similarly and in the same way) regard, possess and hold (echo – have relations with and join, wearing the garb of) those who are empowered by and gain custody over people through (krateo – control and oppress by way of, siege power and rule through, grabbing and maintaining possession by means of) the teachings (didache instructions and doctrines, the religious assemblies) of the Nicolaites, who and which (hos) I hate (miseo – abhor, detest, oppose, and persecute)(Revelation 2:14-15)
Had there been any doubt, it has now been eliminated. The doctrine of the Nicolaitans, the people and dogma Yahshua hates, has been defined in unequivocal terms. So that we wouldn’t miss the connection between the harlot of Babylon and the Nicolaites, Yahshua used two different words to convey “in like manner” and “similarly.” The name Nicolaites, which means “to utterly vanquish the laity and obtain superiority over people through opposition and conquest” has been linked directly to the prophets of Ba’al and thus to Satanism, to the politics of power and control, to the religious rites of the harlot of Babylon, to purposeful deception and false teaching, to oppression, idolatry, and immorality. Yahshua has connected the dots for us, defining that which He despises. The Nikolaites embraced the errors of Lord/Ba’al and his Babylonian sungod religion. Those who advocated these doctrines caused people to stumble, ensnaring and entrapping them. They promoted sexual immorality and idolatry as human rights. They coveted sex, money, and power and trampled over people in the name of religion to acquire what they craved.
Krateo isn’t a pleasant word. What little was left to our imagination, was illuminated by its use in connection with the human and satanic schemes Yahweh abhors. It is most often translated “to seize power and arrest people, to take, restrain, and hold others in submission.” According to the Greek poet Homer, krateo means “to possess power through strength, to have the power to control and lord over people.” It is used of political, religious, and military officials who “gain the upper hand through conquest.” Such people “control the masses by imprisoning their opponents.” Those who krateo believe “they have the right to possess people, places, and things.” As such, krateo is the foundation of today’s three greatest menaces: Communism, Catholicism, and Islam. Under Weishaupt’s and Marx’s banner, Mao, Lenin, and Stalin murdered 70 million people in their conquests of control. Constantine’s “Under this sign conquer” and Muhammad’s “I have been made victorious through terror,” all speak to man’s lust for power and control.
In His letter to those enduring the Pergamos period, Yahshua focused on false teaching—just as He had done with Ephesus and Smyrna. Bad ideas are a much bigger problem than bad behaviors because one not only leads to the other, false doctrines separate us from Yahweh. Our Creator is intolerant of false teachings and false teachers. In this regard, the Greek word “echo” is interesting. If one has relations with those who retain and use the words of false prophets, they will come to hold them too. If one even associates with those who proclaim false religions, they will echo their deceptions. They will become a victim of their quest for power and control.
I also find it interesting that the word which defines the moral meltdown of mankind today, “porneuo,” is directly associated with idolizing the wrong thing, indulging the flesh rather than celebrating the spirit. All of it is Satanic—born and bred in Babylon by the Devil himself. Halal wants to be Ba’al, Lord and Master. He lies so as to snare us, creating a stumbling block that leads to death and destruction, to proneuo, hoping that we will echo the false notions that Yahweh detests.
Yahshua’s warning to those caught in the web of religious, political, and societal lies is unequivocal. “Therefore (oun – consequently, these things being so, indeed as a result) change your way of thinking (metanoeo – reconsider and amend your ways, change your mind and adjust your attitudes), or (de – moreover, or then) otherwise (ei – but if not) I will appear (erchomai – come forth and become known) to you suddenly (tachu – quickly and momentarily without delay) and will be engaged in a war, fighting, quarreling, and disputing (polemeo – battling) with (meta) him or her (autos – as a unique individual, distinct andset apart from others) with piercing and cutting words (rhomphaia stoma – sharp language, a biting tongue, the lance of the mouth, and spearing speech)(Revelation 2:16)
This is directed at those who simply echoed or clung to the false and oppressive teachings of Universalism, better known as Catholicism. Man has been put on notice. Death will come quickly and when it occurs, those individuals who opted for religion instead of relationship will appear before an unrelenting God. His words will pierce his or her soul. There will be no excuses in this dispute. None of man’s pleas will help: “I went to mass.” “I supported the church.” “I said my prayers.” “I tried my best and led a good life.” Yahweh’s sharp and hostile words will cut through all of this, leaving the victim of religion finding themselves on the wrong side of the law.
The value of close Scriptural scrutiny becomes especially evident when we consider Yahshua’s parting comments to the Pergamos Ekklesia. English Bibles render “leukos psephos” as “white stone.” While that is a permissible rendering, it misses the entire significance of Yahshua’s message. “He who has the ability to listen, let him hear what the PNA(placeholder for ruach, meaning Spirit, from the Greek pneuma, meaning spirit) says to the ekklesia/out-calling. To him who overcomes and prevails I will give manna (manna – a transliteration of the Hebrew man, or bread for heaven) in secret (krupto – that which escapes notice, is concealed and hidden) to eat. And I will give (didomi – grant and bestow, furnish and deliver, reach out, extend, and present a present) him a light (leukos – that which is bright and brilliant, dazzling and shining white, radiant and gleaming) acquittal stone and invitation (psephos – a white rock which was used in courts to designate a favorable verdict; a rock used as an invitation to a feast; from pselaphao, meaning to seek after, touch and feel the token of a person), and upon (epi) the acquittal stone (psephos - invitation) a new and distinctive (kainos – renewed, more valuable, impressive, and superior) name (onoma – character, authority, rank, resolution, and advantage associated with the personal moniker) in written words engraved (grapho – expressed and described in writing) which (hos – who) no one (ouden) knows (oida – appreciates and understands, is aware of, recognizes and can be sure of) save (eime – except) him who takes hold of it(lambano – is offered, receives, accepts, associates with and holds onto [Him]).’”(Revelation 2:17)
A “token” is a “symbol, an outward sign, an indication, a characteristic, an expression, or manifestation of someone or something that distinguishes them.” All three of Yahweh’s favorites are included in this list. He is the “Rock of our Salvation.” He is “Light.” He is “the Word.” Because psephos was used as an “invitation to a banquet” it is Yahshua’s ticket to paradise.
There is some dispute as to whether Yahshua said oida/knows or oikeios/family member, relative or household in this verse. The oldest texts show a blending of these words. And in a way, it makes no difference. To know the “most valuable, impressive, and superior name” is to know Yahweh because Yahweh is the name of whom Yahshua was speaking. To know Yahweh is to become a member of His eternal family, to become a son or daughter of God, and to live in His household.
Speaking to the Philadelphian Assembly of renewed souls that have become upright pillars in Yahweh’s Tabernacle in Revelation 3:12 through the gift of salvation, Yahshua says that He will write Yahweh’s name on them. This is consistent with the Old Covenant where Isaiah reveals: “So therefore (ken – this is right, just, honest, verifiable, correct, and true), My family (‘am – relatives) shall know (yada’ – possess an awareness of and information regarding it that focuses on relationship, be acquainted with it in a relational sense, discern and recognize) My name (shem)(Isaiah 52:6)
Similarly, the conclusion of the 22nd Psalm confirms as much: “The entire world shall return and be restored (shuwb – turn around and think differently, reestablishing Spiritual relations, refreshed and renewed) thinking about, paying attention to, recalling, and confessing (zakar – being brought to remembrance so as to declare, recite, proclaim, and commemorate) Yahweh…. Posterity shall serve Him, and it shall be recorded and recounted (saphar – inscribed and proclaimed) to the foundation of the Upright One (‘edon), for a place to dwell over time (dowr – a house, dwelling place, and tabernacle). They shall come conspicuously announcing, exposing and declaring (nagad – explaining and manifesting) His vindication (tsadaqah – declaration of innocence) to a family (‘am) that shall be born that He has accomplished (asah – instituted and bestowed) this.” (Psalm 22:27, 30-31)
In the Torah, the same message comes through loud and clear: “By the greatness and magnitude (gadowl) of Your sacrificial Lamb (zarow’a), they [the Lord/Ba’al serving adversaries] will be silenced (damam). Now and forever (‘ad –eternally and continually throughout time) the Rock (‘eben – the stone which establishes and restores) passes over (‘abar) the family (‘am) of Yahweh, eternally (‘ad) passing over (‘abar) the family (‘am) whom (zu) You acquired by purchasing them in a redemptive act (qanah)(Exodus 15:13)

If Yahshua were addressing a letter to you, would it include commendation or condemnation? Would you be Ephesian or Pergamosian? The answer is based entirely upon what you understand, who you know, what you trust, who you rely upon, what you condemn and what you commend.
Sadly, more than a billion people are still living under the influence of Pergamos. The Church born under Constantine is as it has always been: the seat of Satan’s power. But the emperor wasn’t the last bad influence on the assembly. A new epoch begins in 606 CE, with the crowning of Boniface III, the first united and universal Pontifex Maximus. He raised the stakes, kicking God out of the Church, he invited Satan in. The Dark Ages followed.
Some Catholics will protest that it isn’t fair to pin all of this Satanic stuff on them. But Yahshua’s description fits them perfectly in every respect, right down to the most incriminating details. Constantine’s creation did everything Yahshua’s rails against, incorporating one Babylonian scheme into the Church after another, and he did them precisely when God said he would. So that being historically irrefutable, Catholics are left to protest that if it weren’t for them there would have been no church. But that’s simply not true. The Way grew faster and was healthier before Constantine than after him. The General turned Emperor adapted and then adopted Christianity as the state religion because he would have lost control had he not done so.
And that is the bottom line. It has always been about control. Thought it should be shared.

The Catholic clergy behaved like the Thyatirans in Yahshua's letter of rebuke. They not only lived in the midst of places corrupted by the Babylonian religion, they became Jezebelians—those who exalt Bel. Rome was the center of Mithraism, or sungod worship. The leader of this fertility cult’s rituals was called Pater, or Father. Only men were deemed worthy. These sun-worshiping pagans wore cruxes around their necks and black robes with NEHRU collars—just like today’s Catholic priests. The highest ranking Mithras Pater was a Papa or Pope.
The cross was the symbol of the sun god. It has been used since Nimrod in ancient Babylon. It represents Easter, the time when the sun crosses the equator at the vernal equinox, simultaneously crossing the zodiac sign of Taurus the bull. There is no Hebrew word for “cross” anywhere in the Scriptures. Each of the twenty-four times the Greek word stauros is represented by the Greek “P” or Rho in the pre-Constantinian Renewed Covenant manuscripts, English Bibles mistranslate “upright pole or stake” as “cross.” The first to do so was a Roman Catholic named Eusibius Sophronius. In an effort to merge Mithras’ cherished symbol into the Church he replaced Yahshua’s stauros with Satan’s “crux” (Latin for cross) in 400 CE.
This error was initiated by General Constantine who claimed to have seen a vision of the sun with a cross superimposed upon it during one of his military campaigns—signifying that he should conquer under the sign of this crux. And so it would be. The crux worn by the Roman Catholic Crusaders was fashioned identically to that used by Imperial Rome and Babylon before them. Even today, Catholics make the “Sign of the Cross” over their chest—a rite imposed by Constantine to honor his god—the Unconquerable Son, Sol Invictus.
This fixation on the sun is the reason why all Catholic inspired art has the sun’s other symbol, a halo, over the heads of Christ, Mary, and the disciples. It is why their buildings and religion are named after Circe, a sun goddess. It is why their buildings all have songod inspired steeples with crosses above them—designed to catch the sun’s first and last rays. It is why there is the Egyptian inspired sungod obelisk honoring Caligula in the center of the Vatican. It is why they took a statue of the Roman god Jupiter, adapted it by placing a Babylonian sungod crown upon its head, placed it at the entrance of their most imposing edifice, and renamed the colossus St. Peter.
Sunday was the Lord’s day, Mithras Solis Invictus—the Devil’s Sabbath. Catholics imposed it and then made Sabbath worship a criminal offense. December 25th was Mithras’ birthday—the rebirth of the sun. In the 9th century, the Natalis Invictus and its festival, the Saturnalia or Paganalia, was renamed “Christmas” by the Roman Catholic Church. Constantine’s Nicene Council replaced Passover with Easter in tribute to the Babylonian sungod religion, and their Istar and Asherah, the Mother of God and Queen of Heaven. Jezebel would have been so proud.
The demonic, sun-centered cult, not surprisingly, supported the divine right of kings to rule, even authorizing emperor worship. This process of integrating ancient poligious customs, called enculturation or syncretism, is designed to impose power with minimal effort. Existing dogma, rituals, and gods are incorporated into a doctrine to make conversion easier. More than just tolerating lies, they are adopted. It is the antithesis of Yahshua’s directions to His ekklesia.
Babylonian priests invented the Missa, or Mass, serving a round, sun-shaped wafer of bread. Wine, the symbol for atoning blood, took a back seat in the harlot’s religion just as the disk of bread in a Catholic Mass is served to all while few sip. Satan knows that without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness. This wafer is still emblazoned with the first letter of the names of the Egyptian Trinity: HIS—Horus, Isis, and Seb—the Mother, the Child, and the Father of the gods.
Each of the seven sacraments of Mithrasism, including Confession and the Eucharist, were incorporated into Roman Catholicism. The Church usurped the pagan use of wax candles, incense, and holy water too, interesting in that one of Thyatira’s definitions is: “unceasing sacrifice of perfume.” To this day, the sacrifice of the Mass, with its odorous incense, remains an ordinance within the RCC.
Mithraism had its own Trinity, Mithras, Rashnu, and Vohu Manah, another legacy of the harlot’s teaching. In Catholicism, Mary was elevated to divine intermediary, being called the Mother of God and the Queen of Heaven—Satanic concepts all. It was one of the Devil’s most effective counterfeits, replacing our Spiritual Mother with an earthly woman. It all began with the mother-and-child cult of Nimrod and his wife/mother Semiramis. It took many forms over the centuries, but the basic ingredients were the exalted mother, often a virgin, who gave birth to the son of a god who died and then rose from the dead. The scenario gave rise to a plethora of fertility cults like Jezebel’s, many of which are condemned in Scripture. Worship involved ritual sex which devolved over time into temple prostitution. In these Babylonian religious cults Mother Earth, called Rhea, Ishtar or Asherah, was impregnated by the sun during the spring equinox, the Catholic Easter, giving birth nine months later at the winter solstice, the Catholic Christmas. The “Hail Mary” mindset of Catholicism is a direct derivative of these pagan schemes. It was first instituted into Roman Catholicism in 431 CE, in complete violation of Yahweh’s scriptures.
There is so much more. The questions are simple. Do we know this information and simply don't care? Are we ignorant as a whole and are misled? Or are we in complete denial? Those are the only choices I see possible. What am I missing?

and the Roman Chi Rho are all examples.

Nonsense. First, Chi Rho is GREEK. Second, the two letters, XP, are the first two letters of the word "Christ" - Xrystous.

You've got your information wrong. It's IHS, not HIS. It stands for Iesous Hrystous Soter.

Jack Chick is not a very reliable source of information.

Acts 17:22-23 - So Paul, standing in the midst of the Areopagus, said: "Men of Athens, I perceive that in every way you are very religious. For as I passed along and observed the objects of your worship, I found also an altar with this inscription, 'To the unknown god.' What therefore you worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you.

Here Paul uses a pagan symbol to reveal the God of the Bible and His provision in Christ for sinners to have peace with Him.

Let's review my comments in context. Here they are:
"Crosses attached to or superimposed on circles were the most common Satanic symbols in pagan religions. The Egyptian Ankh, the Hindu Swastika, the Druid “Peace Sign,” and the Roman Chi Rho are all examples".
Now then, a simple google scan( I just did it) will support my statement. Type "roman Chi Rho" and you should get it.
Next, if you would like to know more about placeholders and the basis or lack thereof of the word "christ", let me know. I just thought it too long for now.

:D Isis, Horus and Seb
Christ is an errant term and the name of the Messiah is Yahshua. Since we have the letters, unlike Greek, to make the sounds of His name, and to thus transliterate it properly, we have no excuse to call Him by anything other than His real name.

Jack Chick is not a very reliable source of information.

Not familiar with Jack Chick, but I will do a goggle when I am done here. I like to think the info is from scripture, not man. If I am wrong, please point it out. I want to know more than anyone else if my thoughts are inconsistent with scripture, but I think I am on solid ground here.

The problem here is that the Chi Rho is NOT a cross and circle combination. It is a combination of two greek letters, and has absolutely no ties with paganism. And again, it is Greek, not Roman.

Christ is an errant term and the name of the Messiah is Yahshua. Since we have the letters, unlike Greek, to make the sounds of His name, and to thus transliterate it properly, we have no excuse to call Him by anything other than His real name.

Christ is the Greek term for the word "Messiah". "Jesus" is the translation of the Hebrew name "Yeshua". Also, why shouldn't we translate the name? My brother's name is Mykhailo, he doesn't insist people call him that but the English translation of the name, Michael.

You also have a problem with the pagan symbology. The swastika is a separate symbol from the cross, and has a completely different meaning.

Finally, you have failed to present any historical support whatsoever for your twisted version of the early church. IHS on the host stands for "Iesous Hrystous Soter" - "Jesus Christ Savior". Passover was not replaced with Easter...in most non-Germanic languages (surprise! not everyone speaks English), the word is Pascha - Passover.

Also, the use of candles, incense, etc. comes from the Jewish temple and synagogue practices, not from pagan customs. The Synagogue services were chanted and used a liturgy. Incense and vestments were used in the temple.

so what if the cross or other symbols have pagan beginnings. all it shows is God's transcendence when it used for His glory. and there are many things that believers and pagans have in common. please refrain from quoting scriptures to show some kind of seperation, when we are all Gentiles, and those verses were towards the people of God to be seperate from God, and us Gentiles coming from the pagan. another beautiful aspect of Christ coming for us Gentiles.

and at least to me, the cross shows God's transcendence, and there's nothing bloody of the cross showing when Christ had the choice to go against the Father's Will.

This is the third attempt at trying to respond. I will not cover any of the other items because I am over it for now. Maybe later I will respond to your points.
Pretend you were watching espn in spanish but didn't speak a word of spanish. You would hear something like blah, blah, blah,Dusty Baker, blahblahblah. Spanish has a perfectly good word for baker or one who bakes. This is the difference between translating and transliterating. One must understand this to comprehend the rest.
“Anointed/Messiah” is correct rather than “Christ” for several reasons. First, used as a name or title, “christos” is not to be found in any Greek New Covenant manuscript prior to Constantine. When addressing the Messiah, all of the earliest manuscripts use a two letter capitalized acronym similar to the YHWH rendering of Yahweh’s name throughout the Hebrew Old Covenant Scriptures. Then they placed a line over these two letters, signifying deity. When applicable to the Messiah, “Anointed” was rendered XS (Chi-Sigma), XU (Chi-Upsilon), XW (Chi-Omega), or XN (Chi-Nu). Interestingly, Rho or “r,” the second letter in “christos,” was never used, nor was the Tau or “t.” I believe the Rho was deleted because it became synonymous with drugs. I believe the Tau was deleted because it symbolized the first sun god, Tammuz, and his cross.

Second, had the apostles meant to use “Anointed or Messiah” as a name, rather than a title or description, they would have transliterated the Hebrew name “Mashiyach” into its equivalent Greek letters to replicate the sound. This was done in John 1:41 where John records Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother saying: “We have found the Messias (Messiah).” Then in John 4:24 the Messiah said: “‘God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.’ The woman said to Him, ‘I know that Messias (Messiah) is coming; when that One comes, He will declare all things to us.’ Yahshua said to her, ‘I who speak to you am He.’” Messiah as a name is not rendered elsewhere so it is evident the apostles were trying to convey the meaning of “mashiyach” which is “anointed.”

Third, if the apostles meant to convey the meaning of the Hebrew word “mashiyach” (anointed—to rub, immerse or anoint with oil) by translating it into the Greek word “christos” we should follow their example and translate the meaning into English so that we might understand the significance they were trying to convey.

And fourth, the meaning of the Greek “christos” is not equivalent with the Hebrew “mashiyach.” In the Hebrew mind, someone who was anointed with oil was immersed in the true light and spirit of Yahweh. Olive oil provided the purest source of light in their darkness so someone who was anointed with oil was the purest representative of God in that pure light was symbolic of His nature and His truth. In the Greek mind and society, “christos” was something a physician or pharmacist did when he applied herbal ointments or drugs on people who felt they needed manmade cures. The doctor dispensed these drugs out of a plethora of jars he would carry with him in a wooden box marked with the same Rx symbol (the Greek letters Rho Chi), that we find on the doors or our drugstores. The ancient Greek dispensers of these drugs did so under the watchful “Eye of Horus”—the pagan god associated with medicine. I am certain that Yahweh did not intend for men to misrepresent the significance of anointing with drugged.

Oh the reason it took three tries is I can not post a picture until I have 100 posts. I was trying to provide evidence of the Roman Chi Rho. My entire post vanished. I then retyped it and even added to it and simply provide a link to the proof. This also is not allowed and erased my post. Kinda frustrating. Just do a goggle search and the proof is everywhere.

so what if the cross or other symbols have pagan beginnings.

So what?

all it shows is God's transcendence when it used for His glory.

No. It shows that His word has been changed. Who are we to copyedit our creator?

and there are many things that believers and pagans have in common.

Interesting. Care to elaborate?

please refrain from quoting scriptures to show some kind of seperation,

More interesting. I can't imagine ever saying that scripture is divisive or to ever stop quoting it. Do I understand you properly?

and at least to me, the cross shows God's transcendence, and there's nothing bloody of the cross showing when Christ had the choice to go against the Father's Will

Don't understand that sentence either.
