Evolution nowadays stops just short at saying we came from apes, eh?
What evolution says about our relationship with apes is the same as what it's always said - 1) humans, chimps, orang-outangs, and gorillas, are four living groups of organisms that are collectively known as 'apes', 2) theses modern 'apes' are all descended from a common ancestral species, and 3) that ancestral species was itself an ape species.

Whether you agree with that or not is neither here nor there. That's what evolution has always said, right from the first edition of On the Origin of Species, despite what you might extrapolate from 19[sup]th[/sup] century caricatures.

Then it sounds to me like evolution says we came from apes -- (or ape species).

We are apes. Our ancestors were apes too, some of them slightly different. If you go back far enough you'll find an ape species that split into what eventually became Homo sapiens sapiens, and Pan troglodytes.

We did come from apes, but only in the same way great danes come from dogs, elephants come from pachyderms and whales come from cetaceans.

Don't start getting all complicated there pardner; Creos have a hard time understanding the word Evolution let alone the taxonomy of humans!

You do know that this idea is only a theory and not a fact, right? So go back where?

Aaaaaaand back to the creationist conflation of colloquial 'theory' with scientific theory, and absolute ignorance as to the scientific method.

No, us and chimpanzees share a common ancestor. That is a fact. The theory just explains how that happened.

No. That us and chimpanzees share a common ancestor is a theory, not a fact. Try again.

In science the word Theory does not have the same meaning as the same word in the colloquial
meaning.
This has been pointed out to you countless of times and yet you keep insisting.

Theory in science explains the empirical evidences; Like the Atomic theory, Theory of Gravity, Theory of Evolution, etc.

Not only do we share a common ancestor with the chimps but our blood types are the same and thus we can inter-transfuse blood between the species.

Here try reading this so you can understand the differences between scientific theory and colloquial meaning of theory.

Fail much?

"Evolooshun is just a feery, durp."

A theory is the most accurate and reasonable explanation science has that explains a whole collection of facts. It's the highest status an explanation can reach in any field of science.

That we share a common ancestor with chimps is one of the facts that evolution explains.

I think you should try again. To even come out with that comment shows me that your whole life needs to be tried again, because it's gone very, very, very wrong somewhere.

Evolution refers to both a fact and a theory. The fact of evolution is the biological phenomenon whereby populations of organisms change over time - that's the proper meaning 'evolution'. The theory of evolution is the theory that all life is descended from a common ancestor, and life's biodiversity is due to this aforementioned evolution.

Notes something missing? Must be nice to be free to so fully misquote someone.

What'd you expect?

Creationists are so used to being dishonest with themselves - persuading themselves that evolution is false in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary - that it's a million times easier for them to be dishonest with everyone else in order to maintain their delusions and self-imposed ignorance.
