I can look directly at the past, with objects moving according to the same laws of momentum and gravity as they are here on Earth. We can measure the erosion and building of geological layers containing records of life's journey from millions of years ago by actually looking at it and touching it.

Or, I can take a 2000 year old book that's been translated several times from the original that nobody agrees on which also makes the claim that a deity spoke the universe into existence over a period of six days, complete with talking snakes, walking on water, and resurrection from the dead.

No, parallax does not work for galaxies, they are too far away, standard candles are used for that. But parallax certainly works for stars and planets that are in the 6,000 light years range, and physics properties in all of those behave exactly how they do in the solar system.

Ah..so you cannot support the claim for the pinwheel distance. OK. When we observe a star on earth, we assume it exists. We assume that it exists in time as we know it and space as we know it. We would need that for linear measurements to work...right? Parallax involves time you know. Earth time. For example 6 months for different measurements in different places on our earth orbit..etc.

AV, that post has no relation to what I am trying to show dad here. But FYI, your "hypothesis" of a universe being created as it is, with embedded age and history, is more logical to me than a past with different natural laws will ever be.

How you answer that depends on how you've been taught.

You can go touch the Grand Canyon or Colorado River all you want, but if you say they came about via millions of years of processing, then I don't believe it.

You don't have to "believe" it, those types of things don't require "belief", they are simple observations. I will give you one thing though, thanks a lot for posting that link, the response has this awesome video that I hadn't seen before:

And it shows you, step by step, how a faster speed of light in the past would cause the universe to be much older. That is why I say that your embedded age story makes more sense than this "different state past". For kickers, the video also shows a great way of estimating distances by calculating the rate of growth of light rings around supernovas. But of course you won't "believe" that since we can actually see it.
