  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'll ask you the same question I ask all the newcomers to the debate.

Are biologists incompetent or is it a world wide conspiracy that has kept evolution as one of the most used and evidenced theories in science for over 200 years? Bonus points if you can come up with a third option.

no I don't think biologists are incompetent. I am not questioning the methods they use, I am questioning their conclusions. just like two people can look at all the evidence in the jack the ripper case and come up with two different theories to who did it. both can be very convincing arguments but in the end one is wrong.

let me remind you that not all biologists believe in evolution and in fact there are many biologists who have converted to creationism because of what they have found as biologists. are you going to label these guys as incompetent?

by the the way nice bear trap you laid out for me about the world wide conspiracy.
if I had said yes, you would have labeled me a crazy conspiracy theorist, if I had said no, it would make you look like you had a point that there's something in evolution.
nice try.

I want to address you post more fully but since I am pressed for time right now so let me just say that if you find those two options disagreeable then please suggest a third that works. If biologists are not incompetent then there must be something to evolution since it has been considered the basic theory in biology for 200 years. The only other way I can see it being in the sciences for this long is a conspiracy theory. What do you think? Do you see a third option I am missing if evolution is incorrect?

So, if you're creating marine animals, wouldn't you be better using water breathers? Evolution explains cetaceans, Creationism can't.

Are you fair enough to admit that these creationists are just spouting the stuff passed down from the Middle Ages, before we understood these scientific facts, and give Genesis another read?

Can you see trthat the Bible makes sense in regard to evolution, whereas the churchians do not interpret it correctly?

Its been at least 10 years since I was first promised "proof" of creationism. I'm still waiting.

I'll also point out that even if you prove unequivically that evolution is false, that doesn't make Biblical Creationism any more likely to be correct.

I would say the same of evolution. I have never heard a convincing argument with proof of evolution.

Have you ever approached it with an open mind? Or always from a position attempting to disprove it?

To a certain extent a person has to be qualified to understand the science of evolution. Wether you've been personaly convinced or not is ultimately, not important to the facts. But take heart, this is true of most of us. :)

Proving creationism can only be done by Jesus Christ.

The Antichrist, when he shows up, is going to put on a demonstration of abiogenesis, and fool even the greatest scientists on earth into taking the Mark.

But when Jesus shows up, things are going to change -- drastically.

Again, I could ask the same of you of Creationism. Have you ever read the Bible account of Creatinism in genesis and approached it with an open mind? How do you reconcile evolution with the clear teaching of the Bible?

Jesus doesn't believe in [macro] evolution -- why should we?

You mean like Adam & Eve did in the Garden?

We will never disprove evolution in this dispensation.

Evolution will be alive-and-well during the Tribulation.
Sorry, not engaging unless you promise to abide by the rules

I think it's a dumb question to ask in the first place.

I don't expect the average 1st century person to have an accurate grasp of 2012 science let alone what we will know in the centuries ahead.

Creationists sort of remind me of someone who goes into hysterics when they find out a loved out died, screaming, "No no he(or she) isn't dead!!!! noooooo!". While the whole time it's still true that the loved one is dead.

Likewise, the creationist cries and cries and throws a tantrum because they don't like certain facts.
