I appreciate that The Flood is not a salvation issue for you or for most Christians. However, for most creationist Christians it is. If the Flood is not true, then neither is the rest of The Bible, or so the logic goes. The other aspect of this is that creationists here hit us over the head with the claim that what is in reality their interpretation of scripture, is the Inerrant Word of God. As such, it cannot be wrong, regardless of any evidecne to the contrary. This may not describe your attitude, but it does many others here.
The true value to the Christian is the spiritual lessons of the word of God, whether actual events or allegory. Our salvation is in belief and acceptance of the sacrifice of Christ on our behalf. However, musing and arguing about the flood and other stories is still interesting and fun (It ranks right up there with bowhunting.................well maybe not.)
