  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Didn't they know?

I appreciate that The Flood is not a salvation issue for you or for most Christians. However, for most creationist Christians it is. If the Flood is not true, then neither is the rest of The Bible, or so the logic goes. The other aspect of this is that creationists here hit us over the head with the claim that what is in reality their interpretation of scripture, is the Inerrant Word of God. As such, it cannot be wrong, regardless of any evidecne to the contrary. This may not describe your attitude, but it does many others here.

The true value to the Christian is the spiritual lessons of the word of God, whether actual events or allegory. Our salvation is in belief and acceptance of the sacrifice of Christ on our behalf. However, musing and arguing about the flood and other stories is still interesting and fun (It ranks right up there with bowhunting.................well maybe not.) :)

Can someone please say what year the Tower of babel collapsed?
I've never heard of the Tower of Babel collapsing.

If you have, evidently they didn't give the year?

(Must have been in a science lecture you heard that. ;))

Why not tell him the year that God confounded the language of man. I think it was during the time of Peleg.
