President Donald J. Trump is one of the greatest American Presidents that has lived, a true American Patriot and Hero!Yes, Trump was elected by a majority of voters.
Currently, he is doing the right things that we elected him for.
However, I have to question, did we elect a tyrant in the making?
Only time will tell, but in two years or sooner, we could see a different man we elected and
we may not like it.
We can only watch and pray that God is going to guide our government according to His will
Thank you. I figured someone would protect the Constitution somehow, if it was threatened.Well, we have Constitutional measures and safeguards no other country has.
But then came Obama who infamously attacked members of the SCOTUS during his SOTU speeches, as if he thought the SCOTUS was for him to command. That's when the SCOTUS seemed to take on more of a subservient role to the Executive branch.Once upon a time...but not that long ago, within my adulthood, Congress and the Supreme Court jealously guarded their independence from the Executive Branch. Even a Senator of the same party as the president did not consider the president his "superior" in any way. That's why Congress could have impeached Richard Nixon.
The same had been true of the Supreme Court. It wasn't at all unusual for a Justice to lean against the wishes of the president who appointed him, in favor of the Constitution.
Things began to change in the 1980s. The primary individual credited (or blamed) with souring relations between Democrats and Republicans in Congress was Newt Gingrich (R-GA).But then came Obama who infamously attacked members of the SCOTUS during his SOTU speeches, as if he thought the SCOTUS was for him to command. I thought we were talking about the independence of the SCOTUS from the executive branch.Things began to change in the 1980s. The primary individual credited (or blamed) with souring relations between Democrats and Republicans in Congress was Newt Gingrich (R-GA).
Gingrich, elected to the House in 1978, took an aggressive approach to partisan politics, frequently attacking Democratic leadership and accusing them of corruption and mismanagement in a consistently discourteous manner rarely practiced in Congress.
In 1987, he helped orchestrate the Ethics Committee investigation into House Speaker Jim Wright (D-TX), leading to Wright’s resignation in 1989—an unprecedented event that escalated hostility between the parties.
He forbade Republican representatives from meeting Democratic representatives "after hours," which was when they would often hammer out deals away from the public eye and without the need for partisan posturing.
Gingrich took advantage of C-SPAN’s live coverage of House proceedings, using "Special Orders" speeches to attack Democrats, even when the chamber was mostly empty. This led to increased polarization.
He formed of the Conservative Opportunity Society and led this group of young conservative Republicans who aimed to reshape the party’s messaging, often by taking an openly combative stance toward Democrats.
Gingrich’s tactics in the 1980s laid the foundation for the bitter partisanship of the 1990s, culminating in the 1994 Republican Revolution, where he became Speaker of the House and further escalated political warfare. Many historians consider his approach a turning point in modern congressional partisanship.
I pray and hope he remains the same.President Donald J. Trump is one of the greatest American Presidents that has lived, a true American Patriot and Hero!
Donald J Trump MAGA, America First!
Gingrich was responsible for creating a budget that was not only balanced but had a surplus.Things began to change in the 1980s. The primary individual credited (or blamed) with souring relations between Democrats and Republicans in Congress was Newt Gingrich (R-GA).

The Bush dynasty is gone, right along with Liz Cheney and her dad, love it!Gingrich was responsible for creating a budge that was not only balanced, but had a surplus.
Rember his "Contract With America?"
Bush and the GOP controlled congress blew that with two unfunded wars.
Anyway, back to the subject of the thread.
The depth of your delusion is staggering. We all need to be more objective and realistic about our biases an beliefs.President Donald J. Trump is one of the greatest American Presidents that has lived, a true American Patriot and Hero!
Donald J Trump MAGA, America First!
A whole lotta' people favor him!The depth of your delusion is staggering. We all need to be more objective and realistic about our biases an beliefs.
It was not a "vast majority of voting Americans".You mean the vast majority of voting Americans, smiles!
A whole lotta people can indeed be deluded. Review history.A whole lotta' people favor him!
Are you sure about who is deluded?
Well over 98% were deluded into voting for one or the other of the worst paring of presidential candidates ever. We dodged a bullet by not electing Harris but got hit by the other bullet.A whole lotta people can indeed be deluded. Review history.
Is it shoutable? Does it roll off the tongue? Does it work with a megaphone? Can you imagine it in all the upcoming demonstrations in the summer? It doesn’t matter much if it’s true or not.Trump the Tyrant sounds better than 47 I guess ..
I lived in Gingrich's district then. I remember well. I even voted for him back then being a registered Republican.Gingrich was responsible for creating a budget that was not only balanced but had a surplus.
Rember his "Contract With America?"
Yeah maybe the world will have a Boston Tea party and burn all the american goods in protest of the Tariffs. Is it shoutable? Does it roll off the tongue? Does it work with a megaphone? Can you imagine it in all the upcoming demonstrations in the summer? It doesn’t matter much if it’s true or not.
The WH proposes a budget, but its Congress that approves it, modifies it, rejects it or comes up withI lived in Gingrich's district then. I remember well. I even voted for him back then being a registered Republican.
Gingrich and his contract had nothing to do with creating the budget. It's the White House that creates the federal budget, then submits it to Congress for approval. That's how it's done.
There was a call for an amendment to the Constitution called the Fiscal Responsibility Act in Gingrich's contract , which would've required a balanced budget but it didn't pass, Republicans in the Senate torpedoed it.
