It's sin because james 4:17 says "If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn't do it, it is sin for them." He knew what He was doing was wrong. You compared Peters act with Jesus'? you can't because the intention behind each was totally different. Jesus' did it to save, peter didn'tGal 2
[11] But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.
[12] For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision.
[13] And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation.
Eating with Gentiles?
Being afraid of being accused?
Being blamed by what others say?
Hypocrisy to eat with Gentiles and then be afraid of what others would say?
How are these sins?
Jesus ate with Gentiles.
Jesus was blamed and accused
Jesus had no fear of men's accusations.
These men did have a fear of accusations.
Is fear of other men a sin?
What is their sin?

Amen!!!!!In the next 2 paragraphs Paul goes on to explain Peter's sin in more detail. In a nutshell:
Peter knew the Gentiles believers were free from Jewish Law. before the Jews from James arrived, Peter ate with them and treated them as equals. Peter even lived like them.
When some strict Jews arrived, Peter became frightened. He cared about what those Jews thought. So he started treating the Gentile believers differently. He wouldn't eat with them at dinner time. Peter started treating them like they were "unclean."
This was hypocrisy because Peter knew those Gentiles were not unclean in God's eyes. Peter knew he should treat all believers the same, because in Jesus Christ there was no longer Jew or Gentile. Peter chose to care more about other's opinions than God's truth.
Therefore, Paul called him out on it publically.
If his claim is to be taken as meaning being over sinners in that way then it would be blasphemy as only Jesus could make that claim. It is also clear from the context that he was including himself in the number.Good questions.
Just because Paul said that he was Chief of sinners does it necessarily implies that he was a sinner as well? Does a Chief carry the same title of the subjects? Would the savior or head over sinners, have to be a sinner as well? Not that obvious to me.
To the religious, even Jesus making these claims was blasphemy. It is good to know that the context of the bible passages are clear to you.If his claim is to be taken as meaning being over sinners in that way then it would be blasphemy as only Jesus could make that claim. It is also clear from the context that he was including himself in the number.
Yes they did consider it blasphemy for Jesus to say it, because they denied his divinity and any normal human claiming it would be blasphemous. As for the context look at the very next verse where he says "6But for this very reason I was shown mercy, so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display His perfect patience"To the religious, even Jesus making these claims was blasphemy. It is good to know that the context of the bible passages are clear to you.

I too believe that Christians sin.i believe Christian are capable of sin, but we are children of light. We are instructed to walk as children of light. If we don't need the reminder, why are we being reminded?
1 John 1
6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Ephesians 5
8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
i believe Christian are capable of sin, but we are children of light.
We are instructed to walk as children of light.
If we don't need the reminder, why are we being reminded?
1 John 1
6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
i believe Christian are capable of sin, but we are children of light. How can you be a child OF the light, OF Christ, Christ in you, AND still capable of sin?
How does the Spirit of God dwell IN YOU, and He dwell in your sin that is supposedly still a capability?
How does that work? Is Gods Spirit in you, and when your capability of sin arises and you sin, His Spirit jumps out to not be tainted by your sin?
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
Here is a teaching, of what to expect IF we walk in the light; you become cleansed from ALL sin.
Other scriptures teach, when the light, the Spirit of Christ IS IN YOU, it's permanent. He is forever and always with you. Yet He does not dwell in sin. So where is there a capability room, for one to sin, while His Spirit has freed you From all sin, and He dwells with you?
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
Who does this apply to? A man who asks for forgiveness of his sin? Nope. By asking for forgiveness of his sin, His admission is he has sin, and is asking to be freed From his sin.
So who does this apply to? It applies to one who does not believe there IS a God, nor there IS such a thing as Sin. They claim to have NO sin, because they do not believe there is such a thing.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Again, teaching, IF you have confess to God, and He forgave you, and cleansed you of your sin, and thereafter His Spirit dwells within you, HOW can you thereafter have the capability to sin?
Isn't His power within you sufficient to keep you from sin, being His power, greater than your capabilities?
Ephesians 5
8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
Teaching, what you were, is past, what you are now, is light in the Lord; reveal your new standing, by what you say and do.

I am a Christian and I am still a sinner. I am not capable of living without sinning.Did Paul consider himself a "sinner"?, How many of which disciples/apostles think of themselves as sinners...? Are we supposed to think of ourselves or consider ourselves as sinners...? Even after we say we are saved...?
Comments...?
God Bless!
I too believe that Christians sin.
Of course we do, if we did not sin we would not need to repent and have our sin forgiven.
Ephesians 4:30This makes ZERO logical mindful sense and ZERO Scriptural sense.
The Spirit of God dwells in you, WHILE YOU SIN?
Where is Gods Spirit, while you ARE SINNING? Hiding His eyes, cringing, leaving you?
Please explain how the Spirit of God is IN YOU, while you commit sin.

I am a Christian and I am still a sinner. I am not capable of living without sinning.
Thing is... I am aware of my sins, ashamed of my sins and strive not to sin, even though it is impossible..
I confess to Christ when I do and He is faithful and just to forgive me... even the ones that I forget to confess.
Upon my death, all my sins, confessed or not, are covered by the blood of Jesus...Hallelujah.
Ephesians 4:30
So, you don't eat more than you need to.. gluttony, desire a new car, couch, house, trip abroad, boat... Covetousness , look at a woman or man and feel attracted ++.... Lust, do something for yourself where others concerns may be put aside for your own desires... selfishness, put a duty off till another day or not keep pace with what your place of work demands for your respective pay.... sloth...This makes ZERO logical mindful sense and ZERO Scriptural sense.

Are you saying that you always perfectly obey God? In order to be perfect one must sell all they own, and give to the poor. How many times can your brother sin against you and still be forgiven? Seven times? Matthew 18:21-22That is correct. Doe not grieve the Holy Spirit, by letting loose out of your mouth, what is not glorifying to Him.
Eph 4:29 [29] Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth...
Is it corrupt communication to say; you are cleansed of all sin, you have the Holy Spirit within you, but that you STILL sin? Yes, that is corrupt. God does not dwell with sin. Gods power within you has freed you from sin. You can sin no more, with His power within you.
