And what's of even greater significance than that is how people can recognize the irrationality in other people's beliefs, and yet fail to recognize the irrationality in their own beliefs. Like the belief that a person rose from the dead two thousand years ago.
That's an interesting comparison. I'm somewhat interested in talking about it, but it would probably be off topic in this thread imo.

Do you want to open a new thread somewhere, or is there an existing thread that would work?

It would probably look a bit more impressive if the Moon had an atmosphere...

But we were talking about expenses.
Really?

Your thinking that it takes a Saturn V rocket and extensive massive thrusters with multi stages and fuel that stacks up taller than a sky scraper... to get off earth..

But, the tiny tin can lunar module, the size of a small car.. has enough fire power to get off the moon.

Try again.. Even if it was a rocket 1/12 the size of the Saturn V... it would not get off the moon and that rocket would still be bigger than a school bus.

Nasa had the larger budget. They had hundreds of thousands of people, all civilians working on the moon projects. At its peak, the Apollo program employed 400,000 Americans and required the support of over 20,000 industrial firms and universities.

So yes, 10 people might be able to create fake photos' or movies on their computers.
But 400,000 will not be able to keep a secret.
NASA is a fully civilian agency. Today, NASA employs nearly 17,000 people with diverse backgrounds.
It's called compartmentalization. Fred and Joe build one part and Sam and Tony build another. Bill and Ted get all the parts and go on their "imaginary adventure but Fred, Joe, Sam and Tony have no idea that it's all fake.

Did you know that the simulations that the command center carried out were so real that those involved could not tell if they were were real, fake, drills, practice or a hoax? No way they could tell.

It was designed that way so that they could get super efficient at it... And... it was all part of the biggest video game in history.

No one has reported or leaked this.

That's called an "argument from incredulity". Try calculating the physics some time and see how it works out for you.

Lifting 2900 tonnes into orbit in earth's gravity compared to lifting 5 tonnes into orbit in 1/6 the gravity. Do the maths.

I spoke with Astronaut Col. James B. Irwin in person and asked him about conditions on the moon. Specifically about how deep the moon dust was.

Yes. Absolutely. My direct source is my sister, who is literally a rocket scientist and engineer. My supporting evidence is my own career, where my work in millimeter wave radio systems has had me consulting in several high tech industries, including space with both large contractors and NASA itself.

For those missions to be false, the level and depth of conspiracy would be astronomical. (But, given some of the other things people believe despite the overwhelming evidence, I'm not surprised that some would think the conspiracy is more likely).

And by now someone would have made a death bed confession of their part in such a conspiracy.

Also I’m pretty sure that our space-race competitor, Russia, would have closely tracked and monitored all our space flights, including listening to radio communications to the moon and back, which involved having to point dish antennas aimed at the moon, to pick up the signals.

If that was faked, they’d have known it, and told the world. IMO.

We have over 800 pounds of moon rocks. Some can be borrowed with permission from Nasa for examination. What we discovered is that the moon is pretty boring with minerals that are not very exotic. Which is why we haven't gone back.

I’ll sell you all the boring moon rocks you want.

How many hundreds of pounds do you wish to buy?

The point of this facetious remark is: a big pile of boring, non-exotic rocks, isn’t proof they came from the moon.

And I believe we went there.

Note: I hope this doesn’t double post - there’s a glitch somewhere wherein a post just sits there when I hit the button to post, so I hit it again, and ends up a double post - like it did again, with this post, so I added this before I try again.

Sometimes I'll select the text of my post and copy to clipboard before I hit post, and if the text doesn't appear to have posted I refresh the web page to make sure. If it shows up, good, if not, then I paste into the reply and hit post again.

If I notice the forum being glitchy.

Copy your post then hit reply and then refresh if it's being annoying and try again. I had a lot of that last month.

Most of that weight was fuel... Not needed? Why not needed, at least 1/6 of it for leaving the moon?

You do the maths.

Would you spill the beans if your family's health and safety was at stake.

Even in our small town, it is well known by police, that if a drug dealer is owed large sums of money from a minion.... he doesn't threaten the life of the debtor.... they threaten the life and limbs and safety of a loved one. Much more effective.

Would you disclose a secret if the person who you are protecting... would kill your daughter? Even on your death bed?

Nope.. these threats continue well past your passing.

Out of the tens of thousands of people who would have to be in on such a deception, there would be those who died without a family to worry about.

What really gets me, is there is no reason in the world to pull off such a deception.

OH, but there is... 50 million reasons ever single day.

That's their budget... $50,000,000.00 per day.

Not to mention the psychological boost it gave those in North America. It made them unstoppable.
