  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Washington, who celebrates his 70th birthday December 28, was seen in a series of images documenting his day at the religious institution.

The two-time Oscar winner was seen being presented by with documents affirming his status as a minister by Bishop James Pullings, Jr.

Odd. Has he been Baptized before or is he becoming increasingly more religious? Hmmm...
I’ve been hearing he was a believer for quite sometime now so this news item confused me too.

Some denominations require that one be baptized in their church, even if one has been baptized before.
This may be the case here.

I've heard for a long time now, too, that Denzel is a committed Christian.
I'm happy for him now, to have achieved this goal for himself.
I'd really like sometime to hear him preach!

There are some denominations (such as Baptists, Church of Christ, Seventh Day Adventist, various non-denominational/evangelicals) that have new converts re-baptized after they join their Church , even though they were baptized as infants. I can't say I'm too surprised.

Yeah it’s a strange thing in that mindset. I was baptized twice before I became Catholic. When I was converting to Catholicism, I asked again. It was a flat no. One baptism, etc., as long as it’s valid. Now if I was in the Holy Land? I’d probably want to do that there as well but I’m not sure how the Church would answer me on that.

Yeah Denzel is one of those Hollywood actors who has been a Christain for a while but doesn't announce it while also not really hiding it. I think you can recognise his belief and fruits in the way he comes across. He has always been wise and level headed and stands on the truth. I think thats why he plays justice type roles lol. Maybe a bit too much justice in some of them like the Equalizer series lol.

But good on him becoming a preacher. I reckon this has probably been his calling all along. But now as he gets older he is looking for more involvement in the church and to use his example for God. I would love to hear him preach.

But it seems that there have been a few celebs come out and declare more specifically their belief to the public. I remember Russel Brand got baptised and gave a little sermon. That would have been interesting as well. From memory Chris Pratt was another. I have seen Stephen Baldwin sharing his faith a lot as well.

He had long practiced his Christian ministry face-to-face with other actors in small groups rather than in the media.

He had stated an intention to retire from Hollywood, and that his last movie might be "Gladiator 2." This event seems to bear that out, if he's going into direct ministry.

Church of God does require adult baptism. I was raised African Methodist Episcopal, which practices infant baptism...I got re-baptized when I joined a Church of God congregation.
