The Democratic party needs to crack in half! The View types and Sqad types can represent a new party of its own... The traditionals like Bill Maher can represent another party or take full control of the current Democratic Party name.

.. It should not be allowed to carry on as is, with so much variation, and no clear common agenda. It's a mess!
Under its first-past-the-post voting system, such a split would just result in vote splitting and easy Republican dominance. While I'm sure the Republicans would be very happy to see such a split, it'd provide no benefit to the Democrats.

Such a split could only work if the US were to adopt something like proportional representation, or at least instant runoff voting.

We'll see about that when he stops walking the tough talk and starts doing the job that his big backers paid him to do.
If this was his first term, your skepticism would be valid.

But this is all reminiscent of his first term. He talked a big talk (only delivered on 2% of it), but effectively agitates the other side.

They elected him again. I don't think you're giving spite enough credit as a motivator lol.

From my estimation, he's still doing exactly what his backers wanted him to do, which was this:

I think you should all let Democrats figure out how to fix their party, which is nowhere near as beaten down as you think.

Our biggest problem in the last election was getting defined by minor wedge issues--like transgender rights. Our biggest issues were bread and butter issues and saving democracy. The next few years will show people how wrong they were in trusting that Trump would uphold the Constitution. People will soon tire of Elon Musk shredding the social safety net and shedding people's jobs--while, I'm sure, figuring out a way to buy lots of assets at fire sale prices and winding up richer than ever.

Was it really worth it to vote for oligarchy just so that when you use a restroom there might be a transgender woman using the private, locked stall next to you, bothering no one? SMH.

I don't think you really want to know the answer to that question.

Do you think big energy companies, for instance, really care? Do you think that Musk poured millions into the campaign for that?

Just think of the great society we’ll have after the Democratic Party folds!
There’ll be just one Party and you’ll have to join it to be able to work in/for the Government and everybody will belong to it or be accorded second-class. Of course, since there’s only the one Party you can’t just “join”…you’d have to be “sponsored” by two Party members in good standing.

Rather unlikely. If the Democratic Party dies off, then another party would take its place as the main opponent to the Republicans, much like how after the Whigs collapsed, the Republican Party emerged and replaced them as the main opposition to the Democrats.

Well, yeah, after President Trump’s highly successful reign! Administration!

Voters' views of the Democratic Party and Republican Party set new records since the Quinnipiac University Poll began asking voters about the parties in November 2008.
In today's poll, 31 percent of voters have a favorable opinion of the Democratic Party, while 57 percent have an unfavorable opinion. This is the highest percentage of voters having an unfavorable opinion of the Democratic Party since the Quinnipiac University Poll began asking this question.
Forty-three percent of voters have a favorable opinion of the Republican Party, while 45 percent have an unfavorable opinion. This is the highest percentage of voters having a favorable opinion of the Republican Party since the Quinnipiac University Poll began asking this question.
This marks the biggest favorability advantage the Republican Party (43 percent) has held over the Democratic Party (31 percent) since the Quinnipiac University Poll began asking these questions.
Their lowest approval rating in the history of the poll.

And it is not getting better - the more they try to dehumanize Trump and the Republican Party - the lower their popularity goes.
They continue their false rhetoric...they have learned nothing. The American public are fed up with the Democrats...

Hiring freeze and huge air traffic controller shortage. FAA head left in a huff. And he thinks the problem is DEI!
The hiring freeze had nothing to do with the accidents.

I think a good start would be to actually listen to all the people who left the Democratic Party and make the necessary changes to bring them back. Unfortunately, it is more likely that the DNC will double down again and abandon more of their members. A good place to start is RFK Jr's speech after he dropped from the presidential race. He said what many ex-democrats were thinking.

That would be awesome. Perhaps Trump will make the MAGA party the official party of the United States. One can only hope.

That's silly and you know it. We have other parties now, they just aren't as big. @chevyontheriver is always promoting his party etc.

If the Democratic party does die, another party will emerge or people will just join a different party.

People just want a little common sense in government and have slightly different ideas on how to achieve that. No one wants their government to be promoters of child sex trafficking and slavery, or the new anti white racist party.

The far left has lost the plot completely. That doesn't mean the country has.

Let's just make it back to sanity. Let's have a nice country for us and our children to live in, and let's grow up. Stop scaring people to the point they're terrified of you.

Perhaps the Whig party will return?

It is this type of response and fear mongering that is killing the party IMHO.

They need calmer heads who will address real life issues instead of sowing division and fear.

The planes are falling from the sky. The tariffs plunged the stock market. All while he lies about Biden sending condoms to Gaza and Hamas making condom bombs .
Have you reached bottom yet?
There's still FBI agents to fire for doing their job, and government data to purge, and someone who doesn't believe in vaccines to put in charge of the nation's health care.

Yes. The Trump admistration still has a lot of work to do. But hopefully they will accomplish what they were elected to do.

I think not.
I think Hispanic voters saw the large number of immigrants were increasing prejudice and discrimination against them (thanks to DJT's campaign.) They wanted it to stop. Now they'll cry because their cousins and friends will be deported...but the prejudice will remain.
