From the article.
The convention is set to begin Aug. 17

With presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden expected to announce his running mate at any moment, the Democratic National Conventionrevealed more details Tuesday about the lineup of events and speakers at this year's event.

In addition to Biden's official nomination and acceptance, several notable political figures are slated to participate in next week's programming – and not just Democrats.

The convention, which will be largely virtual while anchored in Milwaukee, is scheduled to take place from Aug. 17-20. The former vice president is set to speak on the final night of the event from his home state of Delaware.

The Democratic National Committee has announced that the convention will kick off Monday with speakers including Biden's primary opponents Sens. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, former first lady Michelle Obama and former Ohio Gov. John Kasich, a staunch critic of President Trump who ran against him in the 2016 primary race.

Tuesday's lineup includes former President Bill Clinton, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., former acting attorney general Sally Yates, former secretary of state John Kerry and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.

Here is a list of politicians expected to speak:

Monday, Aug. 17

The DNC Convention will kick off Monday with speeches by some of Biden’s primary opponents, Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., plus addressed by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, former first lady Michelle Obama and former Ohio Gov. John Kasich.

Kasich, a Republican, is a frequent critic of President Trump, and ran against him in the Republican presidential primary in 2016.

Tuesday, Aug. 18

On Tuesday, former President Bill Clinton is expected to speak, as well as Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.; former acting Attorney General Sally Yates; and former Secretary of State John Kerry.

Freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., is also expected to deliver a prime-time address Tuesday night, even after distancing herself from Biden earlier this year, saying “in any other country, Joe Biden and I would not be in the same party, but in America, we are.”

Wednesday, Aug. 19

On Wednesday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., will speak, as well as former Secretary of State and former 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham are on the schedule, too.

Former President Barack Obama will also present on Wednesday, followed by Biden’s soon-to-be-named vice presidential pick.

Thursday, Aug. 20

On Thursday, the final night of the convention, former Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., who ran against Biden in the primary, and former South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg, who also ran in the primary against Biden, will speak, among others.

Biden will formally accept the nomination and deliver his acceptance speech on Thursday night to conclude the week-long event.

imo, A fair and balanced article from FoxNews...
The decision comes after Biden and Harris publicly clashed in the primary campaign—notably when Harris drew sharp contrasts with the former vice president when she challenged him on the debate stage of his past resistance to federally mandated desegregation busing.

The pick shows a willingness from both Biden and Harris to move past their differences. The decision may have been tipped days earlier, when he was photographed with talking points saying of Harris that he does “not hold grudges” and has “great respect for her.”

The choice also fulfills a commitment the former vice president made in March to name a woman as running mate. Naming a Black woman at a time when issues of racial inequality are front-and-center also responds to signals from some circles in the party that such a choice could help build bridges with the Black community.

At least we won't be scanning the crowds to see what political luminaries might wind up in the hospital on a ventilator in the next 10-14 days, like poor Herman Cain, R.I.P.

Chuck Grassley of Iowa, Mitt Romney of Utah, Lamar Alexander of Tennessee, Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska are not attending. Grassley, in his mid-80's, has health concerns, and I am glad he is putting safety first. Collins is way down in the polls in Maine (well-deserved) and obviously wants to distance herself from Trump and seem moderate (except when it counts most, like the Kavanaugh vote, of course.) Alexander is retiring, Romney has little in common with a party who is featuring speakers like the St. Louis couple who wildly waved guns at peaceful protesters and a contrarian Parkland parent who thinks armed guards in the school would be better than sensible gun regulations. Can I say "ugh?" Murkowski is not a Trump fan.

I have been impressed at how well the convention has been conducted. I loved the personal glimpses of each state in the roll call, the 50-state choir Star Spangled Banner.

While pressure is mounting to open schools no matter what, two colleges have already gone back to virtual. The sad part is if we had had competent leadership in Washington, we, too could have had under 100,000 cases and under 1000 deaths like South Korea (population 52 million) who got its first case the same day. I am justifiably angry because the economic toll--all Trump ever cared about--is worse as well.

The DNC are acting like grownups--following the successful example of almost every other country. Only 4 countries in the world have more than a million cases---and two of the three have dictators or dictator-wannabes at the helm--Russia, Brazil, and the U.S.

Ironically, the conventions will probably get more viewers than usual, because people are going out less.
