I am really amazed at when someone in distress ask's for opinions and help, religious people often reply with scripture, nothing else. No communicating on a realistic human level. And often those who have a delima accept these replys or {non relplys} with enthusiasm! Religion truly is the narcotic for the masses.

The reason could be is he is someone that has rededicated his life to God . who would be better qualified than a christian.
We are supposed to be there for him to encourage.
I never threw out scriptures though I think I should have.

The best advice, opinions, and help comes from God. So it is natural that we would want to hear His words. If God is a narcotic, give me more! I am His junkie for life! I want more of Him everyday! Filled to overflowing with His goodness!
But it's not god that is responding; it is you and I and him and her.

Ok as long as it helps.
It is the God within us and why discourage someone that has just rededicated their lives.
Of course you saying it is not God, is just an opinion.
You don't have a clue.
I am not going to reply to anymore discouragement in this thread because he needs encouragement and I don't feel this is a debate here.....At least it shouldn't be.

Hey soulbrother God may have used you in this thread.
He can use an atheist just the same as a christian.
The only difference an atheist does not realize they are being used.
A christian is hoping that God is using them.
Yeppers that is true.

I am glad that you feel at peace now.

I do have a word of caution in that you are still human, and that although you are a new creation in Jesus Christ, that doesn't automatically make things wonderful all the time. There will still be times when you struggle, times when you feel down, times when you are afraid, times when you may well be in utter despair. Sometimes, that's how things will remain, and nothing makes things better.

Remember that you have prayer, Bible reading, fellowship, and other Christian resources from which to derive support. Again, there won't always be peace even when you pray, read the Bible, and get together with others, but at least you aren't struggling alone.

Also, if you believe that God is burdening you with more than you can bear, you may want to listen more closely! :)

One final thought: This may be heretical, so take it with a grain of salt, but if you find dwelling upon the second coming depressing, don't think about it. It may well be a part of your faith, but dwelling on that which mires you in anxiety doesn't really seem conducive to nurturing a relationship with God, IMO.

I would never want to be used. I'm to much of a rebel. I cannot respond any longer in this thread. "They" are out to get me it appears. I don't want to be banned form this forum. I haven't done anything wrong but... Take care.

HI McNabb!

At the risk of being number 3209876534 telling you what to do, here's my 2 cents.

I've been a Christian as well, and recognize a lot of what you've told. There's a lot about Christianity that made me worry. Things such as Hell, the second coming, death, whether you're a good Christian, and how to love a man who walked the earth some 2000 years ago and did some incomprehensible things which defy any belief. It's hard indeedy.

I'm not going to tell you what to believe or what not.. all i can say is that you yourself have all the answers, if you just take the liberty to have an unbiased look at things. Just remember 1 thing: the only place you have ever been in your life is here and now. Maybe some years or even days ago, you worried about today, or maybe today you regret what you did yesterday. The future and the past as such only exist in your mind, and there's no point in worrying about it whatsoever.. just let it come as it is :D

I'm not telling you to put down your responsibilities or anything. Just do what you have to, but don't make any more of it than nescessary. It's a bit like doing the dishes.. you can do them thinking about why you always have to do the dishes, and how much you really hate it, and how you'd rather be at the computer or watching telly or whatever.. or you can just do it, be in the moment, feel the water, see how you're cleaning things. It's a whole different experience.

You can actually make it a habit to go back to here and now whenever you catch yourself wandering off in the territory of the maelstrom of the mind, so to speak. Just zoom back to here and now, and experience it as it is. feel the wind in your hair, see where you are, be conscious of your being in it's surrounding. Don't try to be anything other than what you (think) you are or shoould be.

That's all really.
