It seems to me that since I've accepted Jesus as the son of God, then I am born of God and am overcoming the world, as I maintain a watch on my own frame of mind and my own speech while I work alone at my computer and with my telephone throughout the course of the day. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think, from what you are saying, that this is the living faith that has already been established in me, and that I have every reason to celebrate, or at least be happy, as I cast out lots of negative thoughts and feelings throughout the course of the day, and allow belief(good faith in listening and reading) and love(acceptance of what is good in others) and obedience(honoring and following what is true and to be done as I understand Jesus by the word of God) to steer me onward. I always hope that I will find myself in working relationships, if not just deeper fellowship, with others that I really care to be direct with on matters like this.

Again I hope the peace of God is always with you!

I'm glad you feel inspired by my message to you, but I hope you realize that it was in response to what you said to me--I felt obliged to see the best--and I generally feel obliged to bring out the best in any situation. The very first message in Deeper Fellowship, from Maid in his Image, which I've copied and pasted below, set the tone for me:

"Edification means uplifting enlightment.

So we ask that it be kept to that.

We ask that debatable material be left on the debate forums, no intimadation that causes others to leave the forum to give place to bully tactics, and that a peaceful, safe environment be maintained.

Welcome to the forum and God bless your time here. Please abide by this in Jesus' love."

I suppose if I wanted to I could correct the spelling of the words "enlightment" and "intimadation", but I won't. I have to respect the essence of the message.

Also, I want to emphasize the fact that with Jesus in my heart, I'm not afraid to speak out to others. All alone, I trust him with the truth about my desires and feelings and I don't feel obliged to back down from believing that he is helping me with matters of the heart and that he is with me where I actually am and that I can speak from the life I am actually living. There are imperfections and irregularities about who I am but I square off with Jesus every day and I trust he is looking out for me with some regard for the way I want things in life, while at the same time having me look at things from other perspectives. He was with me while I was reading your message, and I don't think he let me fail to see what's what.

I'm inspired that my share of prosperity in life is just starting to show and that the Christian man whose business I contract with trusts me with so much communication to both his representatives and his clients. One of his representatives did not want to deal with the CRM(Customer Relationship Management website), but I found a way to get him interested in communicating with me and giving me the info I need to put in the CRM, and I found a way of presenting info about clients to him in a way he feels comfortable with and interested in--there are certain things about working with computers that he just can't get used to. I'm glad that God(through Jesus) has taught me how to take to people the way they are.

That's why I came to Christian Forums as "Christian Employment Seeker". I have my own marketing business and contract with other businesses. If I make the acquaintance of someone who wants me to work for him, who knows what genuinely exciting and productive business adventures I will have? Jesus probably knows because I won't let one bit of bad business creep into the operation and will always be on the lookout for good solutions. Hopefullly, with that, there will be people I can really care about as I learn to work with them. I don't know who they will be, but I trust that Jesus will help me maintain the most agreeable circumstances possible.

Now that I'm at Deeper Fellowship, I have the additional hope of sharing all my understanding of life and its challenges with people I really want to communicate to, maybe people I will get to know in the real world someday.
I guess the most inspired thing I have to share is simply the fact that I never lie to God(or Jesus) when I am alone--and that seems to make all the difference. If I am a brother in Christ, as you say I am, I would like to know whether there could be any responsibilities I might have to you...? I might just feel obliged, and I won't know whether I want to call you a brother in Christ unless I can fulfill an obligation to you--I hope this makes sense.

I really hope there is no misunderstanding. If I think I am someone's brother in Christ, I should have a responsibility to them. Yes, I would like to say I am a brother in Christ, but the Bible warns of vain repetitions somewhere.(If you happen to know the particular verse that says that, I would appreciate your letting me know which one it is.) My prevailing thought is that if I call you my brother in Christ, I owe you some time, some attention, some careful consideration, some love. Please feel free to tell me anything of importance to you. My first obligation is to God, or Jesus, and myself, just as you say, but my second obligation could be to people I call a brother or sister in Christ.

Hello, My name is Augie. I looked closely at John 1 12-13 as you quoted it, and I realized that whenever I make a beginning in thought(words) or deed, if I start with God in mind, then I might be a child of God. I'm never surprised at the new things I see and understand in the Bible. The following is where a good part of my faith rests:

Philippians 4: 4-9
"4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. Hi, Snakebite! Augie (aka christianemploymentseeker) here.

Forgive me, but I can't help wondering if the devil really sank his fangs into you! I'm kidding, of course, but I'm not kidding as well. After all, there are things in life that can overpower our better selves, and I too came to Christian Forums looking to save/help out my better self, and specifically came to Deeper Fellowship to find/share the best of encouragement and uplift.

The bit that you saw was the tail-end of an interesting conversation I had with someone who had a distinctly hard-driving message which I could only handle by my own reckoning with the Bible and my heart. If you click back a page you will see where I first introduced myself to Deeper Fellowship and the few people I've exchanged emails with so far, and you'll see how I think. Essentially, I regard the quote above, Philippians 4: 4-9, as a "downloaded link" to the rest of my mind by which I pray about everything without worrying about any one thing, and the neural pathways in my brain--carrying the information of my soul--are always making my mind better and better organized for all my purposes--and God's purposes--thereby in turn making my life better organized.

One reason I'm here at Christian Forums is to find the right inspiration for life and hopefully offer the right inspiration. I am hoping to make my visits here a perfectly good substitute for going to church, because I am always working alone at a computer and with a telephone, and looking for other people I can honestly care about. I called myself "christianemploymentseeker" because I was, and still am, looking for employment with other Christians. I currently contract with a Christian businessman and I am very happy with him after two years so far, but I am often seeking additional contract employment in the field of marketing, financing, and, online CRM management.

My basic wish in coming to the CF is to apply Jesus's golden rule this way: I do not lie about the things I know I want and want help with and I welcome others to tell me what they want/want help with. If I can help, I will. And maybe they may help me. I realized recently, for instance, one reason I came here was that I wanted help with being able to quit drinking highly-caffeinated black tea. I am a prisoner of black tea and I am praying to God that I find the courage to quit it, or rely on some non-harmful substitute. But going back to Philippians, I am not worrying about it. If fact, I'm grateful that I was able to stop drinking coffee and switched over to slower acting, but longer-lasting tea. I'm confident I'll make another change someday.

When it comes to studying the Bible, I'm always glad to share how I feel, think, wonder, understand, and receive any aspect of the Scriptures themselves. And, frankly, Snakebite, if you have any verses of the Bible that you would like to share with me, I would certainly take a look and tell you what it means to me. Here's a few more thoughts I'd like to leave you with. When Jesus said "I am the light", I think he knew in his own way what Einstein knew about matter-light conversion, almost as if he could see the light of day creating the slower solid objects in the light. And where it says "In the beginning there was the word", etc., I think it could be true, even though we might think the big bang and the creation of the universe and the creation of earth preceded the existence of humans with any words or language, because we are the ones who are limited by time and space--not so God. Is God making a beginning right now with these words...? Will Jesus ever come back? I imagine...

I certainly hope that the Lord does bless you and I hope his blessing is in keeping with the truth of your heart.

I did start browsing the other posts in the thread before I wrote my opening gambit, however 49 pages seemed a bit long especially as most of it was other peoples dialogue. So I skipped it. I will go back now as you have piqued my interest.
In response to some of your post, I do not lie, and always try to be myself in dealing with other believers however I have found oftentimes that other people either have an agenda or misrepresent themselves ( not saying you are ) and so am wary of commiting myself to other people. Been hurt too much by people calling themselves christians.
However thank you for your reply and for your perspective which I very much appreciate. I has given me stuff to think about.
I hope that we can get to know each other better over the course of time.
You realise I will definately be pestering you with queries about scripture all the time now?

I wish you well with black tea. May I suggest that the Lord will help you deal with this in His time. As I have found with my issues with a variety of unpleasantries.

Oh yes, the snakebite initially came from an alice cooper song, however I realise that the enemy sometimes bites us too but we just have to look to the cross to overcome this. As well as the more extreme churches that encourage followers to handle rattlers.
I guess I just wanted a pseudonym that was a bit different as my original ones weren't available.

Good Time of Day Where You Are, Snakebite! I see your country is Israel, and I see your location is behind enemy lines. Is there a connection I am not making?

It's 9:50 AM Sunday morning where I am in Madison, WI, and I am grateful for an e-visitor who wants my friendship, as I want yours. I am especially grateful that you were able to receive my message with an open mind. I too started at the beginning of the Deeper Forum and sent out a few emails there, but then leaped over to the last page and set a few more emails in motion and had one long conversation and that had been it. I need to correct something I said in my last email: The "bit" that you responded to was actually a one time answer to another posting and not the tail end of my long conversation--that conversation had ended with the previous email I sent. Regardless, if you do find some interesting posts that you would like to share with me, please let me know. Who knows how the Deeper Forum will grow, and what life-giving, faith-making benefits we'll reap?

Of course, you can pester me with queries about the scripture. I'd love to share growing opinions and life-strengthening messages as much as I can. I also want to mention that I am especially interested in trying to sense and contemplate who Jesus was exactly, and how and why he might return someday.

I am not married, but I have enough friends and acquaintances that I feel that I belong at least to an extended family. I think it is okay to have agendas as long as you can declare them and say who you are--this is the very mechanism that will save you from lying. It's the hidden agendas that cause problems. I am wary of committing myself to others as well, and generally make decisions one by one, all the while remaining committed to the Lord.

Thank you for wishing me well on my struggle to overcome caffeine addiction--The Lord may well have the time and the place set for me. I do strongly believe in the Peace of God, and I do believe He will pull me through it.

Maybe when your snakebite has healed you'll become a doctor--a doctor of the spirit. Since I am seeking so much these days, I may simplify my pseudoname to Christianseeker or, better yet, christianseek'n'share. May God bless us both on our ways today.

no, no connection.
I am actually physically in the U.K, but am very pro Israel as God's people and Identify with them as an ingrafted part of the Lord's kingdom.
I find that my opinions are becoming fairly dynamic lately, maybe I am becoming more mellow or perhaps the Lord is changing my heart.

I do try to be fairly open minded as far ass my faith will allow but there are obviously some areas which we cannot or should not compromise, to that end I hope my integrity is one of them.
Thank you for your kind hand of friendship. I trust we can be of mutual benefit and encouragement and strength.

I have only been here a few days so still in the process of finding out what all is here. Isa 41:10
Do not fear, for I am with you;
Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, surely I will help you,
Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

This above scripture is one I turn to a lot. It brings me a lot of comfort.

Rev 21:4
and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.”

This also is something I hold on to. No matter how bad a day is, no matter what is going on that seems unbearable, we know that one day we will be in Heaven and it will all be gone.

Col 3:16
Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

This just sits in my heart with much happiness. :)

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I've been working and I've been busy.

But an interesting thing happened yesterday morning. I was stressed out about losing work time over shovelling snow and I was stalling on going outdoors and facing it. After an hour of doing nothing, your reply email showed up and I read Isa. 41:10 and I saw how afraid I was of the snow (taking my time away from me at least) and how I was looking anxiously up and down the white-covered lawn and sidewalks and it hit me so fast that I decided I had a strong enough helping hand to get the job quickly done. It was the wet heavy stuff, and it took me two hours to get it done, but when it was done it was out of the way. Thank the Lord!

I like this Isaiah quote because it fits very well with part of my Philippians quote, "4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." The more I think on,or pray about, this quote, the more I sense that God is organizing every bit of my life perfectly.

Rev 21:4 I'm not sure about the context of this one, but it makes me feel relief, as if God were saying "The worst is over. You've been tempered for a better existence."

Col 3:16 reminded me that "Blessed Assurance" is one of my favorite hymms!
It makes me trust in being lost in God's Love. Here are the lyrics:

Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.
