  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well, why not? The best system would be based on the morality of their deeds which, if you believe in an afterlife, wouldn't stop after death - ergo, a revolving door.
Studies have shown that most people who play games like D&D prefer evil characters.

Under your system, most people here on earth would be Hitlers, then simply repent after dying and going to Hell.

You have a strange concept of an afterlife.

Whoa!!! Did I just witness someone lump Darwin in with Hitler????

Wow.
Normally, I would not have done that; and I even hesitated to do so, since I choose to believe the Lady Hope story.

However, as I see it so far, 100% of the atheists, and even most Christians who even dare to comment on the Lady Hope story, have Mr. Darwin ending up in Hell (assuming they are correct, and he didn't repent).

And although I cannot understand why someone would want Mr. Darwin in Hell, I respect their answers.

In short, it's you guys* who put Darwin into the same place Hitler went -- not I.

* (Yes, I know ... there's that corporate mentality showing again.)

People will have the same gifts, talents and abilities in Heaven that they had here on Earth. Only there of course they will honor God. Not mock Him like some people do here on earth. If someone were to mock you, what do you think we should do with them?
Leave them be. I'm a big boy, mockery doesn't bother me.

Should we prepare your best guest room for them and move them into your house?
If the alternative is leaving them outside to suffer for all eternity, then unequivocally yes!

Source?

I disagree. If you didn't believe in Heaven or Hell, would you be out raping and killing? Would you undergo a massive national project to exterminate the Jews (or another ethnic or religious group of your choice)?

I'm guessing not. I'm guessing you, like most people, decide against rape and murder because you simply don't want not, and not because of the threat of Hell.

You have a strange concept of an afterlife.
No more so than one where one's mortal religious beliefs determine whether you get eternal paradise or eternal suffering. You'd think it'd be based on whether people deserve it...

I would be inclined to believe you are being sincere with your line of questioning, but for one thing: the Catholics have their doctrine of Purgatory, which doesn't seem to faze you.

Thus I think you're just here to ridicule those of us who believe in Heaven-or-Hell period, else the Catholics would put you in your place.

Sorry, WC, I think your line of questioning is as fake as your avatar right now.

Would you like me to start answering from a Catholic's perspective, so you'll shut up?

What makes you think it doesn't faze me? It's not come up in the conversation yet, and unless you're a secret Catholic, I don't see the relevance.

Thus I think you're just here to ridicule those of us who believe in Heaven-or-Hell period, else the Catholics would put you in your place.
I'm at a loss how you came to that conclusion. Are you saying I'm in cahoots with Catholics and that's why they're not putting me in my place?

My main point is simply that the afterlife system you believe in, can be improved in many obvious places.

Sorry, WC, I think your line of questioning is as fake as your avatar right now.
On the contrary, it serves a point: most people don't rape and murder and this is not because of the threat of Hell. So, if the afterlife were instead how I described it, there would be little change to people's behaviour, contrary to your claim.

No, but shall we torture them eternally instead?

On the contrary, it serves a point:
Ya -- your point.

What makes your bologna any different than the idiots who argue that Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 describe two different creation accounts; despite the fact that I could put them in their place with the NIV?*

* Heaven forbid an NIV reader would do it. Some things are just left up to a KJVO to go out-of-character and do it.

Ask a Catholic ... they'll have a reason to laugh at you.

But you won't, will you?

(I hate to say this, but I wish a Catholic would show up right now and put an end to this garbage you guys are on about right now.)

1. So this religion's houses of worship are called... Higher Academia.
Strange then that people in academia have so many different religious beliefs.

2. Its clergy are called... Doctors of Philosophy.
Strange then that so many are members of other religious beliefs, and that the vast majority of degrees have nothing to do with religion or atheism.

3. Its holy texts are called... Peer-reviewed Articles.
Strange that so few deal with religion in any form, or with atheism.

4. It was founded by a person called... Belial.
Who is that? The Lord of lies from the Diablo video game series?

6. In the year... 4003 BC.

Whatever.

FAIL

Strange that you're not offering any better answers.

What isn't strange is you piping up against one who dared answer; something I've come to expect from you guys.

If you think you can provide better answers, please feel free to do so.

Otherwise ... :)

The questions were addressed to those here who view atheism as a religion. I do not.

What isn't strange is you piping up against one who dared answer; something I've come to expect from you guys.
Yeah... what's up with that... almost as if this was a Discussion Forum.....

If you think you can provide better answers, please feel free to do so.
Yes. The answer is: atheism is not a religion.

Otherwise ... :)

I thought God stripped you of your free will when you get into Heaven?
That's news to me. Where do you get this stuff? No one is stripping anyone of anything. More like we go there naked and get nice clothes.

Why not? And does that mean we do, or we do not, have free will in Heaven? In heaven, can I choose between harp-playing and cloud-bouncing, or is the choice made for me?
Yes. You can chose. Of course with a clean heart and having learned the love and ways of God, you won't want to be a Manson type killer...relax.
