August 9. Just seen this excellent Bible reading aid in Proverbs,so reading Proverbs 9. Thankyou for highlighting these verses in the inspired Word of God. It is good to read the comments also and I hope to follow on through the month. These 'fatherly talks' are so helpful in Prov.1-9. 'My son' followed by teaching and then wisdom promoted. How we all need that wisdom! Better to follow wisdom than foolishness.

so true!...what I pray for is also sound common sense and understanding

Proverbs 9 (NLT)
9 Wisdom has built her house;
she has carved its seven columns.
2 She has prepared a great banquet,
mixed the wines, and set the table.
3 She has sent her servants to invite everyone to come.
She calls out from the heights overlooking the city.
4 “Come in with me,” she urges the simple.
To those who lack good judgment, she says,
5 “Come, eat my food,
and drink the wine I have mixed.
6 Leave your simple ways behind, and begin to live;
learn to use good judgment.”

It reminds me of a picture I had, I believe it was from the Lord; on one side of a partition around 4 feet high, was the banquet. It was possible to see over it to view the delicious food. On the near side of the partition, a man was seated at a small table eating beans on toast, looking down and repeating 'I like beans on toast'. In front of him were tables laid in a long line for his future meals of 'beans on toast'. He just wouldn't even look at what he was missing.
So many people will not even look...

Proverbs 9:

Renewed Strength and Long Life.

God promises extended years, granting us renewed strength, and a life of blessings and favor when we TRUST Him, and commit our ways to Him, and bend our will to His.

"For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased." ~Proverbs 9:11

Never thought of that....yes, reading Proverbs is like God's "fatherly talks" with us.

This reminds me of "arguing" and "debating" over sin, which i got caught up with recently, and only after continual defensiveness and as things got nastier and nastier against anyone saying sin is sin even if they were calling it a "ministry", did i realize that i should've left it alone. The bottom line is that they all knew it's sin, and didn't care to hear that it was.

Reminds me of this:

"He that passeth by, and meddleth with strife belonging not to him, is like one that taketh a dog by the ears." ~Proverbs 26:17

Why oh why did i "grab that dog by the ears"?
