Proverbs 9:

Wisdom.

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding." ~Pr 9:10

Wisdom originates in the "fear of the Lord". It is IMPOSSIBLE to "know" God or to please Him without it.

The "fear of the Lord" is not possible without humility, which is bowing our own will to the living God and to embrace and cleave to HIS will, rejecting our own and "burying" it. After all, at that point it's "dead", isn't it?

So bury it. Give it a funeral. Decide what you want on its grave stone.

Amen?

Proverbs 9:

Fearing God.
AKA: Refusing to "fear the Lord".
AKA: The "root" of refusing to "fear the Lord".

It is an infinitely WISE thing to "fear the Lord" and to understand, through this fear of the Lord, and thus the "wisdom" that is generated THROUGH the "fear of the Lord" and imparted to us, to understand the "holi-ness" of God, as God INTENDS us to.

It is precious.

We can NOT be our own little "gods". Yet, THAT is what boils down to what is deep in our hearts when we do NOT "fear God".

After all, we (along with our wills) cannot "bow down" to the living God if we are "bowing down" to ourselves, because WE are our own "little gods".

THAT is the bottom line of not "fearing the Lord".

Isn't it?

Proverbs 9:

Wisdom = "Life"
AKA: Forsaking wisdom = "an uninterrupted road to hell"
AKA: Why do so many embrace a "death wish"?

We have a tendency to "follow the crowd". It's akin to a "blind-ness" of sorts, isn't it? A tragic "blind spot"? Or is it an insidious "denial" of the destruction that is right ahead, plain as day, compliments of the one who goes about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour?

"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:" ~I Pet 5:8

His calling card, after all, is deception and lies. It was so from the beginning. Jesus the Christ called him the "father of lies" and "a murderer" from the beginning. Thus the "fruits" of his unfettered, uninterrupted, strangle-hold on us, is of course, "death". and we are complicit in our own death, for our uninterrupted "connection" to this "murderer" and "father of lies", is akin to a "suicide".

We aid and abet this "murderer's" "killing" of us.

Without a "peep"

And we "party along the way".

We "celebrate" our death with our "killer".

In essence, this is a "death party".

Isn't it?

Our "death wish" comes to fruition.

Cemetary-450x270.jpg

So we, as it were, are on a boat, fast-moving towards a chasm of a forever, hopeless, "waterfall" of destruction, "partying" along the way. Oblivious to and/or celebrating our own destruction.

Yet, it is written repeatedly, that wisdom calls out to ALL, who have ears to hear, to "forsake that foolish boat and all who are in it" and to seek and to choose wisdom.

Wisdom = "life".
Forsaking wisdom = "death".

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding." ~Pr 9:10

Proverbs 9:

Wisdom cries out.

She literally cries out from the housetop, for all to hear, and for those who do hear, to come and GET wisdom, and LIVE.

For the bottom line of the antithesis to wisdom, is DEATH.

By the grace of God, may we heed the call of wisdom.

And LIVE!!!

Proverbs 9:

Casting pearls before swine.
AKA: Shaking the dust off.
AKA: When God says enough is enough.

"Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee." ~ Pr 9:8

As i was listening to J Vernon McGee's commentary on Proverbs 9, he summarized verses 7 and 8, similarly to what came to mind for me, such as the verse about casting pearls before swine. There comes a time when we do not engage with a mocker, especially those who have heard the gospel, and yet still not only reject it, but mock God and those who bring His good news for those hungry to hear this good news. Noah comes to mind. He preached as he was building that ark, which took years. And just as it says in this verse, there came that day when Noah and his family got on that ark, and God HIMSELF closed the door: "He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy." ~Pr 29:1

"Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, " ~Matt 7:6

And in addition the verse about kicking the dust off just came to mind as i was writing this:

"And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet." ~Matt 10:14

Here's a commentary on those very verses:

What did Jesus mean when He said to not cast your pearls before swine (Matthew 7:6)?

And another about kicking the dust off:

What does it mean to shake the dust off your feet?

Another commentary/blog on this subject with the picture below (where the picture is from):

Our wisdom and understanding shown to the nations? God’s Law as curb, coherence, and comfort… (part II of II)

Proverbs 9:

Wisdom:
Man's Aversion To It.

Man is very sheep-like, isn't he? He has a distinct aversion to God's Wisdom. It matches the inclination to gravitate towards his own destruction. And he wants "company" to go right along with him to that destruction, and he wants to "party along the way" with that same crowd, oblivious to their own destruction, or quite possibly aware of it, and they just wanna drag as many along with them as they can.

The bottom line is that we are our own worst enemy. And so is that "crowd" we're so running after, panting to catch up, whether it's on the media, in school, at work, or those in that fantasy world of glitz and make-believe.

Following hard after them, is the sure destruction of us.

May God help us to just stop, step back, and away from that big ol' wide road leading to destruction, and pay heed to the clear and urgent warning from God.

Amen?

Proverbs 9:

Fearing God.

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding." ~Pr 9:10

This is soooooo misunderstood. What a quandry, because it is this very thing, the "fear of the Lord" that is akin to "armor" that protects us from the wiles and the deceptions of the enemy, Satan.

Without it we are like sitting ducks to the fiery arrows of the devil.

God help us to understand what the "fear of the Lord" means, and to be wise enough to embrace it and to wear it like "armor", for it is the very thing that "repels" Satan and sends him and his minions to skittering.

Proverbs 9:

God blesses us.

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased." Pr 9:10-11

When we fear the Lord, and give Him His due honor with a thankful heart, He will pour out blessings on us, and grant us an ever-grateful heart, which in turn, fills us to overflowing with HIS joy so much so, that it overflows, spilling out to others as well. We BECOME a "blessing" to others. God doesn't just bless us in the heavenlies, but here on earth as well, when we heed Him and His Word.

Proverbs 9:

Wisdom To Understand.
AKA: Faith To BELIEVE Him.

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding." ~P_r 9:10

God grants us HIS wisdom to understand and discern His Word, as He does EXACTLY what this verse below says He will:

"Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not." ~Jer 33:3

When we "call unto God", through His Word, He ANSWERS, through His Holy Spirit, and "shows us" great and mighty things that we were oblivious to, and never noticed before, and were just "blind to", that we "knew not".

This verse applies as well:

"I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me." ~Pr 8:17

"Seeking" God IS delving into His Word. He promises to ANSWER us, and He promises that we WILL "find" Him.

In addition, He promises that, when we seek Him, and find refuge in Him, no evil will befall us or our dwelling.

It's like HE'S our "insurance".

How precious is THAT?

Proverbs 9:

Long Life.

Wisdom, of course, is "rooted" in the "fear of the Lord". There is NO wisdom WITHOUT it. When we fear the Lord, we are granted wisdom, and discernment, and foresight, which includes a spiritual "radar" so to speak, to avoid the foolish and many times deadly snares and pits of the enemy.

Thus, the long life, amongst other things.

I don't think Christian Forums is set up to handle those items correctly. I and other have only the ignore feature, and to be sure it works. However, I would love to see them treat the mockers and the wicked the way Wisdom says to do that. Sarkari Result Pnr Status 192.168.1.1

Proverbs 9:

The Narrow Road.
true-path-11.jpg

We can NOT have one foot on the narrow road and one foot on the wide road. We are admonished to enter through the narrow gate. The wide road, although inviting is a "beckoning of death" which can be all pretty and like a big ol' party cuz ev'ry one else is on it. In reality, Satan is the Pied Piper, so to speak, of souls. We are warned to steer clear of him and all of his promptings and temptations. In reality, he's inviting us to a "walk of death" that leads off a cliff.

"Following the crowd" mindlessly, and without discretion and wisdom leads to our own demise. God is the "Remedy" for this "weakness", this "Achilles Heel" that we are all plagued with. He grants us the spiritual stamina, courage, and unction to "obey" Him, even when it seems the "less fun", "somber" and "lonely" thing to do.

Even Jesus withdrew from the crowds for refreshment with His heavenly Father. We are to do the same, as we pray for HIS direction and strength to do as He prompts us to do.

May we always choose Him over the "popular thing to do" that the crowds are thronging to.

This is partly what it means to "carry our cross" and to forsake our own will and to embrace God's will.
