And this is one of the most profound verses in not only Proverbs 26, but in all the Bible. There's a wealth of wisdom, and assurance, and a profound promise from our Creator, our God, that evil intentions, and all of the wiles and curses thrown at us, from the enemy, his minions, and his agents, will not find their mark on those who trust in the living God.

I'm convinced that God has a strong sense of irony, in that when someone plans "evil" and "harm" to others, it "backfires" and what is aimed at someone else, targets the one who meant to do the evil.

Evil intent.

God has a sense of irony, in that when we seek another's entrapment, or harm, and/or "dig a pit" for their downfall, it is the one who dug that pit without cause, and seeking to shed innocent blood, that falls into this pit, eventually.

It includes "curses" that are "sent" by someone who harbors evil intent against another. These "curses" fall "null and void" and are of no account, for they find no "place" on the intended target. For just as Job had a "hedge of protection", so does the child of the living God.

"As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come." ~Pro 26:2

Stepping into the "ring".

Oh, as i glanced at this again today, what came to mind, is that God is warning us that if we answer foolishness according to the nonsense, we are not answering under the Holy Spirit, and we may very well be defeated by this very foolishness, because we should've never been foolish enough to engage in our own strength, and this foolishness that "defeated" us in that ring, will swell up with pride and conceit and gloat over our foolish, defeated selves.

In other words, we are NOT to step into that "ring" in the first place. By doing so, we become a "fool".

I needed this today.

I like this verse, it is so true, a preacher in my Church many years ago took the verse for his sermon and I have never forgotten it. He suffered a lot in his ministry and I think he was trying to stop the
dissension
