Proverbs 25:

Kind words.

"A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver." Pr 25:11

Genuinely kind words are healing. Encouragement is a "lifter of a cast-down, sagging" head and spirit.

God is the Lifter of our head, so that we can do the same for others.

We have a ministry. And that is to be His "agents" and "minister", wherever we go.

There are many many "cast-down heads" and spirits, ev'ry where we go.

Let's shine some of His hope into that darkness, and give an encouraging word to the weary.

Amen?

Proverbs 25:

A city without walls.

God speaks of the foolishness of a city that has broken down walls and thus is un-wise and offers no protection for its inhabitants (if there are any left).

Walls are not evil. It's those who make them necessary that are. And the wise, seeing that, heed what God says about securing one's walls and borders.

Walls are no more evil than locks on our doors that anyone with a smidgen of wisdom and discernment, will use.

"Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer" (Pro 25:4 KJV).

When the Holy Ghost has taken away by regeneration, the dross of our fallen nature, and newly forms us in Christ Jesus, then as gold and silver from the furnace, we are brought forth as vessels of honor for the master’s use.

Note that silver is refined through the furnace, and it takes as long as it takes, though it result in much discomfort for the refined. We are that dross, and we are that silver, but praise God, we are also that gold that will one day come forth through God's faithful hand on the potter's wheel and testing and trials designed for our good.

One of my favorite songs sung by Ron Hamilton (aka Patch the Pirate), Rejoice in the Lord has this for a chorus.

O Rejoice in the LORD
He makes no mistake,
He knoweth the end of each path that I take,
For when I am tried
And purified,
I shall come forth as gold.

Lord, we may be going through trials, deep and puzzling, but assure our hearts that nothing happens to us that is not ultimately for our good, for You have designed them even for our growth. Bless us and ours this day that we set aside to remember Your birth and thank You for Your great gift of eternal life to whomsoever may come. Amen.

Proverbs 25:

Healing Words.

A simple and genuine kind word can dissipate anxiety. What comes to mind for me, is that it is like a "spiritual anti-virus" that sets that ol' attacking serpent to retreating from his target. He has no defense against it. It dis-arms him.

Those kind words are, behind the scenes, putting a wallop on that ol' serpent. They're spiritual "weapons", so to speak.

That ol' serpent seems to be "allergic" to them.

Amen.

Proverbs 25:

Inviting Destruction.

When we lack wisdom, and thus self-control, we are inviting disaster after disaster. What becomes glaringly clear here is that we "reap what we sow". When we "sow" in foolishness, impetuousness, chaos, and barbs and animosity, we reap the "fruit" of all of it.

We, in essence are inviting all kinds of disaster to come upon us, just like a city with broken down walls does.

Proverbs 25:

Kindness To Our Enemy.

Being kind to our enemies, and showing compassion does not mean that we "like" them" or are even "friends" with them. It means that we are kind, and we give them food or water, or even do as the Good Samaritan did to the man left for dying (they were enemies in this culture). The Good Samaritan had compassion on this man lying there bleeding and most likely unconscious.

We are to do the same.

Amen?

Proverbs 25:

Wise Men Make Wise Leaders.

Let's pray that our leaders are wise, and that they heed the direction and guidance of the living God.

Let's stand-in, in prayer, for not only our own country's leaders, but for the leaders of all of the countries of the world, amen?

Proverbs 25:

Searching the Scriptures.
AKA: Noble Bereans.

"It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter." ~Pr 25:2

It is written that the Bereans were "noble", for they "searched the scriptures" daily to see if what Paul said was true. They "lined up" everything they heard by scripture.

"And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so." ~Acts 17:10-11

We are to "search the scriptures" as well, lining up everything we hear with scripture. As we do so, God's glory and those things that are "hidden", like "hidden treasures" are revealed to us, by His precious Holy Spirit, just as it is written in this delightful verse:

"Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not." ~Jere 33:3

When we "seek God" in His Word, we are, in essence, "calling out" to Him. And He ALWAYS answers, and shows us those "hidden treasures" in His Word.

Proverbs 25:

Deception, Lies, and Ill-Intent.

"These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren." ~Pr 6:16-19

God makes clear what he abhors, and they are written right in His Word. He abhors "ill-intent" in the heart aka an "evil heart" that intends and plans harm and destruction to others through deceit, and lies, and slander. It is akin to having innocent "blood on their hands".

They, in essence become as a "roaring lion seeking whom it may devour", for the description is describing exactly what they are doing. They love "darkness" rather than "Light", and consequently they love those evil deeds, done IN that darkness.

They live and breeathe to do those evil deeds done in the darkness that they love.

"your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:" ~I Pet 5:8
