Day 24, Proverbs Chapter 24

I went past the field of a sluggard,
past the vineyard of someone who has no sense;
31 thorns had come up everywhere,
the ground was covered with weeds,
and the stone wall was in ruins.
32 I applied my heart to what I observed
and learned a lesson from what I saw:
33 A little sleep, a little slumber,
a little folding of the hands to rest—
34 and poverty will come on you like a thief
and scarcity like an armed man.
This really hit me, partly because I just started a gardening job... When we don't work to take care of things, they become like the vineyard in this passage. Thorns and weeds are everywhere and the vineyard is practically ruined. It would take more work to fix it than it would have been to maintain it! I feel like that's how things are in our own lives too though. If we are too lazy to take care of ourselves or others, then we, or they, will start to break down because of improper or no care. We are the body of Christ, so in every way, we have to take care of ourselves and one another since that's what God wants us to do. Otherwise, we could become like the overgrown vineyard.

Amen. That's how our lives are without God's intervention, even if we can't visibly see the thorns and other signs of neglect. It's a picture of how we are spiritually. I'm sooooo thankful that God interve3nes as He does.

As i was reading this, creation came to mind, and how the world was brought into "being" ...the words wisdom and understanding and knowledge were used in creation as well.

Proverbs 24:

This is profound. Gloating is as distasteful to God as ANY sin. Gloating is a "heart" thing and it is akin to "mocking" and God hates all of it.

Sometimes, though, it's hard not to "gloat" when an especially evil enemy stumbles, trips, or falls, or to break out in laughter.
