Proverbs 19:
(This bears repeating)
God's protection for those who fear Him.

"The fear of the Lord tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil." ~Pro 19:23

God's protection is SURE. Those who TRUST in Him, though enemies be all around, can rest assured in God's defense. It is just as Elisha showed his protegee', the army of angels surrounding him and Elisha, when at first he didn't see them, and Elishah prayed to open the eyes of his frightened protogee'. And God did.

It is the same with His own. We may not see the army of angels surrounding us, but they are SURELY there, nevertheless. And THAT is why we have nothing to fear. It is because, just as it is written, God surrounds us with His protection, seen or unseen.

And even if the enemy cannot see them, they are nevertheless, SURELY there.

Amen.

"And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha." ~II Kings 6:16-17

Proverbs 19:

Compassion.

As you delve into what it actually does (demonstrating compassion), one realizes that it changes, transforms, and blesses "us" the one demonstrating compassion, even more so than the ones we are demonstrating compassion to. Our delightful God literally does this:

"And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God." ~Deut 28:2

The bottom line is, when we "hearken" to God's voice (which is right here in His Word per the verse in Pr 19 that is highlighted below) He blesses our socks off, literally. His blessings will "chase us down" and "overcome" us.

How DELIGHTFUL is THAT??!!

This also comes to mind, about "entertaining angels unawares":

"Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares." ~Heb 13:2

With Thanksgiving so close now, this is very timely, isn't it?

God is sooooo GOOD, amen?

Let's go show someone how very GOOD God IS.

Proverbs 19 is such a rich chapter it is like, where do I start! There is so much laying right there on the bottom shelf and ready for picking. Today I'll look at two verses . . .

"A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape" (Pro 19:5 KJV).

"A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish" (Pro 19:9 KJV).

Often, in Scripture, when the word "witness" is used it is speaking of a spiritual, or godly, testimony. Of course that includes lying to others. In this instance I believe it is pointing to the shepherd assuming to speak for the Lord. And I doubt there is anything more loathsome to the Lord than a lying shepherd . . .

"My people hath been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have turned them away on the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their restingplace" (Jer 50:6 KJV).

Someone presuming to speak for the Lord and telling lies to the people is forewarned that not only will he not escape [God's righteous judgment] but he shall perish [spend an eternity in hell]. I do not unjustly judge, for if a man preaches another gospel other than the one that Paul delivered of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, a salvation of grace and not works - that man is accursed - and cannot possibly be saved himself for that would mean that he knew the true gospel and would teach it.

Lord, help us to always carefully handle Your Word so that we do not allow error to creep in. We know we are saved, but in some areas of the Word we are prone to wonder into error. Help us, dear Lord, to rightly divide the Word of truth which has been delivered to us and preserved unto all generations. Amen.

Amen and amen!!! What comes to mind for me is similar to what you posted, in that one claiming to be a "shepherd" and is in reality a "wolf" (predator) and destroyer of the sheep, especially with deliberate lies, IS an abomination to God, for they claim to be speaking for Him all the while deceiving and lying and INTENDING to lead/drive the sheep astray. Therefore the blood of these sheep is on the hands of that wolf disguised as a "shepherd".

God speaks bluntly about what is waiting for them. They literally have brought curses on themselves, and written their own sentences, so to speak.

How utterly foolish and ultimately, self-destructive.

I figure some of the worst offenders of this are the so-called 'biblical scholars' that have bought into German rationalism where all the miracles of the Bible are explained away, and the Authorship of the Bible is called into question. Their chief mission is to destroy people's faith in our Final Authority.

There are millstones prepared for their necks . . .

Amen. i agree. They are blind as bats, and likened to party-ers on a boat on rapids heading for an abyss, as they "party along the way", and attempt to drag others with them.

And many are dragged along.

Tragic.

Proverbs 19:

True rest and peace.

Our TRUST in the living God makes this possible (true rest and peace), as we TRUST in Him and take REFUGE in HIM, just as Abraham did. Abraham BELIEVED God. Just as a small child believes their loving father. He TRUSTED Him. THAT is why he left ev'ry thing familiar, including family and country, leaving it all behind as he stepped out in faith, trusting in the living God to do as He said He would do. This pleases, blesses, and delights our God's very heart.

When we believe and thus TRUST our God, we have NOTHING to fear, for He IS our Fortress and our Defender and our Protector.

May we find rest in our dear God, for THERE is where our real rest and peace is.

NO WHERE else.

May more and more find this true and lasting rest and peace in our God's embrace.

Proverbs 19:

The "Secret Place".

"The fear of the Lord tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil." ~Pr 19:23

Is there ANYTHING more secure than the protection and the safety that God can provide for us? He is a Shield and a Buckler to those who seek His shelter. When we are "hidden in Him", NOTHING can harm us or touch us, because it has to go through HIM, first. And THAT is why NO EVIL can come NEAR us.

HE is our "spiritual Insurance". How reassuring is THAT??!!!

Proverbs 19:

Fear of the Lord.
AKA: An Undivided Heart.

"A double minded man is unstable in all his ways." ~Jam 1:8

There is much mis-understanding of the "fear of the Lord". It is most unfortunate and tragic that it is not studied more extensively. And that is because the bottom line is, that we can NOT even understand God intimately if we do NOT "fear the Lord", nor can we "know" Him.

Intimacy = Into-me-see.
Intimacy = "transparency".

It means being as transparent as those children were who swarmed around Jesus with their hearts on their sleeves. These children had no "guile" and no "wiles", and neither did they wrestle with their "will" or "pride". They absolutely adored Jesus with an "un-divided" heart and mind.

And that gives us a picture of why Jesus said what He did about them when He said that we must be as one of these li'l ones to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, for are such in the the Kingdom of Heaven.

God DELIGHTS in those who "fear Him".

Is there any wonder why?

The bottom line, is that those who "fear God", DELIGHT in Him, just as these children DELIGHTED in Jesus.

Proverbs 19:

Giving.

"...for God loveth a cheerful giver" ~2 Cor 9:7

The mark of one who loves God dearly and thus "fears" Him (for it is not possible to do as Jesus commanded, and that is to love God with all our hearts, minds, souls, and strength, if we do "fear" Him) is the generosity of heart that is demonstrated every day of their lives. For it is impossible to be a child of the Most High and not demonstrate His traits, which is to be generous and compassionate.

That is why it is written that God loves a :cheerful giver".

These were a few of the verses that brought this thought, that we go wrong in failing to see the truth about ourselves.

We get so sure that we go the wrong way.
We get foolish but blame God.
We think it's us, but it's what we have.
And so on.

There's no lie against truth, and Jesus will reveal what is real.
