Proverbs 19
Everyone read Chapter 19 if it is the 19th day of the month today. Come back and give us your thoughts....Tishri1

Proverbs 19New International Version (NIV)

19 Better the poor whose walk is blameless
than a fool whose lips are perverse.

2 Desire without knowledge is not good—
how much more will hasty feet miss the way!

3 A person’s own folly leads to their ruin,
yet their heart rages against the Lord.

4 Wealth attracts many friends,
but even the closest friend of the poor person deserts them.

5 A false witness will not go unpunished,
and whoever pours out lies will not go free.

6 Many curry favor with a ruler,
and everyone is the friend of one who gives gifts.

7 The poor are shunned by all their relatives—
how much more do their friends avoid them!
Though the poor pursue them with pleading,
they are nowhere to be found.[a]

8 The one who gets wisdom loves life;
the one who cherishes understanding will soon prosper.

9 A false witness will not go unpunished,
and whoever pours out lies will perish.

10 It is not fitting for a fool to live in luxury—
how much worse for a slave to rule over princes!

11 A person’s wisdom yields patience;
it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.

12 A king’s rage is like the roar of a lion,
but his favor is like dew on the grass.

13 A foolish child is a father’s ruin,
and a quarrelsome wife is like
the constant dripping of a leaky roof.

14 Houses and wealth are inherited from parents,
but a prudent wife is from the Lord.

15 Laziness brings on deep sleep,
and the shiftless go hungry.

16 Whoever keeps commandments keeps their life,
but whoever shows contempt for their ways will die.

17 Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord,
and he will reward them for what they have done.

18 Discipline your children, for in that there is hope;
do not be a willing party to their death.

19 A hot-tempered person must pay the penalty;
rescue them, and you will have to do it again.

20 Listen to advice and accept discipline,
and at the end you will be counted among the wise.

21 Many are the plans in a person’s heart,
but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.

22 What a person desires is unfailing love[b];
better to be poor than a liar.

23 The fear of the Lord leads to life;
then one rests content, untouched by trouble.

24 A sluggard buries his hand in the dish;
he will not even bring it back to his mouth!

25 Flog a mocker, and the simple will learn prudence;
rebuke the discerning, and they will gain knowledge.

26 Whoever robs their father and drives out their mother
is a child who brings shame and disgrace.

27 Stop listening to instruction, my son,
and you will stray from the words of knowledge.

28 A corrupt witness mocks at justice,
and the mouth of the wicked gulps down evil.

29 Penalties are prepared for mockers,
and beatings for the backs of fools.

Footnotes:
  1. Proverbs 19:7 The meaning of the Hebrew for this sentence is uncertain.
  2. Proverbs 19:22 Or Greed is a person’s shame

Hi,
If God weren't telling me these truths, I would not know them, as I would not hear them, and I would not know to follow them.

This verse caught my attention...it's a profound glimpse into how God blesses kindness and compassion..

17 He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.

Hi,

Communion is over
as if it does not last
it gives Christ, and
therefore God to all
and to the land

For it is in Communing
He said in any way
with The Lord Jesus
It is in Communinng
in any way that gives

Today Proverbs 19:2 was to learn that it took much time to learn
Before days like this could happen.
Thank you Tishr1 and Brinny
A secret I keep from most of you
One day, that will not be so

The secret is this
First on earth and then in The Kingdom of God
Which is maybe in my heart
Still on earth is residing in those and me
Who do His work lovingly

Yet, love did not come from me
It came from He
Two plus two is four this is to be learned
Scripture is like that
Love consists of this, not that you have done the will of,
But that your will has been done by God.

Did we know this was our will.
Did I or you say it is so
Some do, the reprehesible
Others don't still it is true
All wish to love and be loved

And it is God you see
Who first said
It is not you but I
Who loved you.
Does that mean He really knew

Yes, and most of us don't
We wish to be right with God
He loved us, love consists of doing
He did
Our secret will

He loved us, not we loved Him
That He says in another phrase
No man seeks me
I seek them
Thus searching then faith

All come from God
Yet salt comes in many forms
Yes salt and Proverbs 19:2 both go together
Salt once salty, salty enough
Loves God really and nothing else

And salt begets salt
Thus God gives love to the world
By salt being Salt
Not talking unless
Not doing unless
Only being

For the love of God in one that is communed
Flows, not the person heard or the person seen
It is God that each hears, each in their hearts see
It is God, not me, not you,
It is God from Communing

It is only He, then.

Today, the sign off is more, some dots will be removed, then later put back.

LOVE,
...Mary Katerina., Mary, The Trinity and all the holy ones.

I have a learning disability and it took several readings of the chapter to understand it, but I got it.

(I just have to read over what I don't get the first time)

The Bible is a beautiful piece of literature, is it not? :) Wisdom is a beautiful thing, and it's good that someone finds it...

Hi,
I am so happy you kept at it. Yes, it is wonderful, and life changing. Once upon a time, I was incredibly wise and didn't remember why. Time passed, and I wasn't so wise, but I did not notice that. Rather, I noticed more and more people fighting with me. Time passed, The Tishri1 had a bee under her bonnet. It was to do a Psalm a day. And soon I started becoming wiser. A month passed, as you almost said, that for me was reading 1. It made little sense. Another month passed, I read it again. It made more sense. That was reading 2. Another month passed, and I was wiser but lazier. Surely, I must be wise now. It is not so. Only reading and pouring though it, as though all of us have a learning disabilty allows us to understand it better....I think.
Thank-you for your words.
I will now because of you, try harder.
LOVE,
...Mary Kate., .... .

But we must help poor cause they are mentioned so many times in the Bible to be recognized as a world priority by God, and so it should be a priority for men.

Pro 19:11 The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression. (2Pt 3:15) 16 He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul. 20 Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end. 27 Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge. (Lk 10:28, 11:28, Acts 15:20, 1Jn 5:21, 1Co 8:4)

I've often suspected that John Grisham's success, first, as a lawyer, then as a writer of best-selling legal thrillers, might have been a reward given by God o his parents, who had given material help to a very poor family at the bottom of the cotton-picking hierarchy (though perhaps near the top of the spiritual hierarchy). I'm not sure if that was share-croppers or not.

In reading Proverbs 19, verse 23 stood out for me:

"The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil."

What this means for me, is that the proper fear of the Lord, keeps us from sinning and committing injustices and falsehoods against others, which God abhors as evidenced in Proverbs 6:16-19:

"These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren."

In other verses throughout the Bible, it emphasizes the same, that the fear of the Lord is an "armor" of sorts that keeps us from sinning, so to speak, in that we "eschew" evil, as God testifies about Job, who was deemed as righteous by God Himself, here in the very beginning of the book of Job:

"The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil." ~Job 1:1

"And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?" ~Job 1:8

In the last part of verse 23:

"he shall not be visited with evil."

it reminds me of the last part of this verse:

"As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse "causeless" shall not come." ~Proverbs 26:2

It means that no curses, no evil shall come near you nor your household, for those who fear the Lord and eschew evil.
