Proverbs 14:
key+to+unlock+door.jpg

These are literally "words of LIFE".

The "fear of the Lord" is the "key" to the wisdom enough to "believe" our God and to take seriously what He says, isn't it?

yes, the key to wisdom,

12 There is a path before each person that seems right,
but it ends in death.

yes, so true,

this translation says the same thing, (NLT)

30 A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body;
jealousy is like cancer in the bones.

this reflects the thought rather well, don't you think?

Proverbs 14:
Fear of the Lord.

it's a solid fact and unshakable truth that this is true, in this 26th verse. The fear of the Lord is the foundation that ev'rything else is "built on". God will move heaven and earth for those who "fear God" and for their children and the generations after them. He literally has them "covered" under His wings, where He gives them "refuge".

How glorious is THAT???!!!

He is GOOD!!!!

Amen.

Proverbs 14:

Heart Barometer.
heart2.jpeg

Our heart condition is revealed in how we respond to the poor, the needy, the sick, the suffering, the voiceless, and the defenseless.

We are admonished to feed them, to give them a drink of water, to meet their needs if they are cold and to clothe them, and to take up their cause if they have no voice and are defenseless and are headed for death.

Proverbs 14:

Kindness.

Although it is not spoken of often in the teachings of David (it boggles me mind why it is left out or overlooked) but David had a KIND and COMPASSIONATE heart. THIS is perhaps one of the major reasons that God called David the "apple of His eye" and a "man after His own heart". It is the same for us, when we are kind and compassionate to those who cannot possibly "repay" us, and we give as if our left hand doesn't know what or right hand is doing.

When we are kind or compassionate, we are, in essence, "giving" to God, and "honoring" Him.

How precious is THAT??!!

Proverbs 14:

The fear of God.

The fear of God is the wisdom to "believe" our God and to take "seriously" what He says.

It is the "highest" kind of insult to Him when we do not "fear" Him because it means that we "brush Him off" and give no mind to what He says, even to the extent of "twisting" His Words or even omitting them or "ignoring" them.

After all, it was Satan himself, in the very beginning, who first said "Did God really say...?"

That's why Jesus called him the "father of lies" and a "murderer".

He would'a "killed" God if he could have and usurped His throne.

That's where man gets the tendency to want to do the same. And that is why man killed Jesus Christ.

The "fear of God" keeps us from the desire to "be as God" like Satan, when sin was found in his heart.

It expunges our desire and striving to be our own "god".

And "pride" is the very genesis of worshiping our own selves.

It's what nailed Jesus to the cross.

Pride.

It's a "killer".

Oh to be wise, eh?

This comes to mind:

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding." ~Pr 9:10

This is why it is impossible to please God or to "know" Him without the "fear of the Lord".

Proverbs 14:
Warnings.

"Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil." ~Pr 3:7

To not heed wisdom and to spurn the warnings that God Himself gives us, and to willfully insist that "we" know better than God does, is downright foolish, and it ALWAYS leads to destruction, one way or the other.

"There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.." ~Pr 14:12

Proverbs 14:

Envy and strife.
AKA: How to rot from the inside, out.

There is no peace of God, nor His joy when there is envy and strife and the ill-ness-es that inevitably accompany it, in body, mind, and spirit. In other words the heart, mind, body, and spirit be seriously "ILLING".

In addition it literally rots the bones, just as God's Word says.

A mizzzzzerable state of affairs.

I suspect that that is what ate at Judas at his core, leading him to hang himself.

How tragic.

Proverbs 14:

Run for your life.

"Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge." ~Pr 14:7

As a matter of fact, we should not just walk, but runnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn from their presence.

"A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies" (Pro 14:25 KJV).

Nowhere does this seem to be truer than in the realm of "religion." A faithful preacher speaking the truth is not very popular in this world, yet those that consider him their undershepherd are blessed and strengthened by his sermons. They know that when they listen to Him they are going to hear the Word of God in such a way that it applies to them personally and results in them becoming fully equipped to live the life that pleases the Lord.

Unfortunately, the multitudes prefer to hear messages that tell them how wonderful they are and how sins are simply mistakes but that God loves them anyway and accepts them just the way they are. They prefer the lies that make them feel good and doesn't convict them of sin and hell, while the Bible-believer prefers the truth that makes them feel bad but points them to the Cross, the Blood, and the Saviour.

One continues to bear their sin in the hope that God will excuse them, which allows them to continue to live for the world and the "lusts of their flesh"; while the believer clings to the cross where the Blood of Christ cleanses them from all unrighteousness and makes it possible for them to serve the living and true God.

Paul strengthened many by his epistles, and still does in the written word, yet he had those that hated him and his message. At one point he asked, "Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?" (Gal 4:16 KJV).

Lord, help us to be honest and tell our friends what they need to hear, and not only what they want to hear. Give us stars for our crown as we share your precious gospel with our lost loved ones and friends. But above all, "Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer" (Psa 19:14 KJV). Amen!
