Proverbs 14:
The fear of God.
The fear of God is the wisdom to "believe" our God and to take "seriously" what He says.
It is the "highest" kind of insult to Him when we do not "fear" Him because it means that we "brush Him off" and give no mind to what He says, even to the extent of "twisting" His Words or even omitting them or "ignoring" them.
After all, it was Satan himself, in the very beginning, who first said "Did God really say...?"
That's why Jesus called him the "father of lies" and a "murderer".
He would'a "killed" God if he could have and usurped His throne.
That's where man gets the tendency to want to do the same. And that is why man killed Jesus Christ.
The "fear of God" keeps us from the desire to "be as God" like Satan, when sin was found in his heart.
It expunges our desire and striving to be our own "god".
And "pride" is the very genesis of worshiping our own selves.
It's what nailed Jesus to the cross.
Pride.
It's a "killer".
Oh to be wise, eh?
This comes to mind:
"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding." ~Pr 9:10
This is why it is impossible to please God or to "know" Him without the "fear of the Lord".
