Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

One name & 3 letters for you to look up: Peter J. Ryan and PAL.

I looked it up on google. Can you give me a context, at least, as there were a lot of stuff - the most relevent seemed to be a quiz on the New South Wales police site, and that was not relevent at all.

Ryan is the previous NSW police commish & PAL is the Police Assistance Line.

In Ryans time it was basically a black hole where minor crimes were reported to civillian operators but not included in statistics hence the fall of crime rates.

The Bible tells us to flee from greed, sexual immoralty & drunkenness. Atheists seem to be ok with them as has been my experience especially in this particular thread.

Crime usually stems from these things.

Just for the record, I'm agin all of these. However...

If you're contributing to the greater community good while you acquire wealth, then by all means proceed.

If you enjoy a sexual relationship with someone you honor and respect then have at it. I envy you.

If you enjoy consuming alchohol, and can do so without it destroying your life and the lives of those around you, then party on.

Atheists understand moderation too.

The prisons are full of people of lower than average IQ.

This means one of two things: only dumb people do crime or only dumb people get caught.

You've IQ tested all prisoners? :p

I've met some pretty street-smart ex-crims and I've met some 'less gifted' ones as well. It's usually not about IQ but about greed or drugs & social conditions.

I worked that out.

In Ryans time it was basically a black hole where minor crimes were reported to civillian operators but not included in statistics hence the fall of crime rates.

Minor crimes would not include things like murder, rape and assault, would they?

Can you point me to where it says they were not included in statistics?

Yes. You don't back up your claims in it, and I'd like you to start doing so.

I told others who asked the same thing, I'm basing my arguments on personal experience and experience of people close to me who I trust. I'm not parroting what I've read on a website.

Anecodtal - again!

On average, people who commit crime are of lower intelligence than people who do not. This is a well-documented fact.

If a Christian follows the Bible theoretically he should commit no crime. Atheists moral standards on the other hand are whatever media, parental influence, peer pressure, social norm etc dictates.
Where do you get your opinion on the morals of atheists? Furthermore, what makes you think Christians aren’t influenced by those things you list?

No offense, but this is just pure nonsense. Everyone is subject to the same laws. Atheists are no less deterred by the law than anyone else.

I'm not asking you to parrot anything. I'm asking you to look up the numbers and draw your conclusions from them. Personal experience and experience of people close to you are very bad sources of information. People are notoriously bad in estimating crime rates/risks/disease rates etcetera. As an estimate, the answer we estimate is usually wrong.

The entire thread was sparked by the whole ID thing. I claimed there is nothing wrong with teaching kids about the possibility of God and some extra morals. Then the atheists jumped in & started bashing my ideas.

I wrote in a previous post no Christian is exempt from any of the evil in this world. You must have missed it. :)
