Frederick,

well, this when you evaluate yourself and if you see yourself doing or being something you don't think you should, then you adjust yourself. We are the only one with control of our lives and we have to do what is right, if we don't control ourselves then no one else can ya know? Prayer and bible reading and hanging around people who support us in the direction we want to go really help and keeping those things that are most important to you close in your mind at all times helps too...but also, you just have to make the right decisions and do the right things. This will get easier as you grow up and mature.

We often 'feel' like God is far away and then we can panic and think we are backsliding.

In times like this it is good to remember that God has not gone anywhere and will not abandon us.

Continue in your walk knowing God is still here with you. Watch an inspirational movie, read some psalms, go out in nature. God will speak.

Sometimes He seems to be silent. I think it is in these times we learn to trust Him. Afterwards we find out that He was there working behind the scenes.

I pray that God will reveal Himself to you through many simple things today.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

Our faith becomes damaged when we place our hope in something that is not the Lord's Will and don't get it, when we have certain expectations about how things should go and they don't go that way, we depend on things or people other than God to fulfill our deepest needs, etc. So, it could be that you are looking in all the wrong places for fulfillment. Place all of your hope in the Lord and depend on Him for all things. He is the only one who can truly fulfill our needs. Also, He knows what is best for us. We don't truly know what is best. If something doesn't go the way that we think that it should, there is good reason for it and only God knows why. He sees the whole picture, while we only see a part of it. Also, God will not give us more than what he will give us the power to handle IF we trust in Him and DEPEND on Him to do so. Also, sometimes he allows bad things to happen either out of judgment for sin that is in our lives to get us to turn back to Him, or just to strengthen us and build our character to shape us into the people that he needs us to be for whatever purpose He has for us. Everything we go through is necessary for His purposes. Just trust HIM! He knows best!

God Bless!

You can ask the Lord to please keep your faith fervent (with great intensity). He will do it for you. He did it for me and it has been 3 or 4 years since I accepted Christ. One thing that will help you is to try to be holy and then repent every night for the things you failed at.
Being holy means not sinning either with your body, your mouth or your mind/heart. It also involves helping others and treated everyone you meet with kindness, patience, forgiveness and compassion - even if they cut you off on the freeway. It is really impossible to go even one day without having at least one negative thought or losing your patience when you shouldn't have. Seeing how difficult it is to be holy will keep your faith fervent and will help you grow as a christian, learning to trust God's forgiveness and becoming more like the person God wants you to be.

A poem to encourage you:

At The Place Of The Sea- by Annie Johnson Flint

Have you come to the Red Sea place in your life,
Where, in spite of all you can do,
There is no way out, there is no way back,
There is no other way but through?
Then wait on the Lord, with a trust serene,
Till the night of your fear is gone;
He will send the winds, He will heap the floods,
When He says to your soul, "Go on!"

And His hand shall lead you through,
Ere the watery walls roll down;
No wave can touch you, no foe can smite,
No mightiest sea can drown.
The tossing billows may rear their crests,
Their foam at your feet may break,
But over their bed you shall walk dry-shod
In the path that your Lord shall make.

In the morning watch, 'neath the lifted cloud,
You shall see but the Lord alone.
When He leads you forth from the place of the sea,
To a land that you have not known.
And your fears shall pass as your foes have passed,
You shall no more be afraid;
You shall sing His praise in a better place,
In a place that His hand hath made.
