It's not over yet. Right now, Florida's rate of new infections exceeds even Italy's at the height of their outbreak back in March.

With a crucial difference - the mortality rate is far lower.

New York was the hardest hit state in the country, yet Cuomo thinks he can criticize Trump's handling of this epidemic and expect not to be laughed at...

...that's why they fared so much worse than all the other states in the country?

*laughs* what utter stupidity, texas and florida are already nearing at the start of their surge worse days then new york ever had for cases, both are already nearing capacity for hospitals faster then new york ever did. You guy have zeo facts to back you up.

funny how 2 months more information on covid means it's easier to treat and handle, but deaths isn't the only metric, the one no one knows is the damage long term.

No, we (Seattle) were hit first... and forcing infected patients into nursing homes didn't help you very much there. Neither did holding Chinese New Year parades right when the Chinese coronavirus was descending on your city.

California and Texas both have larger populations...

Trump gave you one of the Navy's major hospital ships... for all the good you were able to do with it. Most of the country didn't get that.

The rest of the country has a long way to go to catch up with you. Here's deaths per million for the ten biggest states...

New York 1,661
Michigan 627
Illinois 577
Pennsylvania 537
Georgia 275
Ohio 256
Florida 181
California 170
North Carolina 140
Texas 102

Worldometer

Lowest numbers? The rest of the country has a long way to go catch you.

I gave deaths per million. That is a rate - and there's only so much you can blame on population density. Big cities exist elsewhere too.

But hey - if you're happy with Cuomo's performance, more power to you, but if Cuomo did a good job, then by comparison Trump's performance can only be described as outstanding.

please stop with the racism, so sick of trying to link covid to china town, grow up.

At the peak back in April, New York had nearly a thousand people dying a day. They had to put up a field hospital in Central Park. Even Houston and Miami are nowhere close to that point.

Also....the deaths from the surge havn't even started

...and every day it's looking less and that they will. Two months into the reopening of the economy, one month into the spike in cases, and the death rate has fallen, not risen.

Most of the other governerors had the sense to isolate the elderly, rather than forcing infected people into nursing homes. This allows you to open the economy and have relatively few casualties...

what planet are you from? They are going up, plus again it may not be as bad as before because.

A) this is mostly young people which have lasting problems more then death.
B) we have better understanding of how to handle the pandemic is things arn't as life threatening BUT it still does lasting damage again.
C) it's still the start of the surge.

umm....texas doubled their cases in 2 week it's still at the start of it, and they are going up.

Yesterdays deaths in texas were double their previous high, same with florida and arizona,.

Looks like the death rate is now starting to tick up... (Hope it's just noise in the data...but I'm not holding my breath)

Says the man who intentionally put COVID-19 patients into nursing homes, killing off the elderly.

Thanks but I'll not be listening to anything Cuomo says any time soon.
He followed federal guideline in doing so; it was the tiniest bit of guidance he got from the federal government and it was bad guidance, no surprise there considering Trump has been a complete failure in every aspect of dealing with the coronavirus. Trump killed off the elderly and he's trying to kill more of them and people of more ages.

You'd do well to listen to Cuomo all the time considering how well he has things controlled in NY. How are the numbers in your state these days?

If you follow college football, you’ll understand the significance of Steve Spurrier’s gesture.
Mind explaining it for a poor european that doesn't even understand how "college football" can be a thing in the first place.

I'm an American with 3 college degrees and I still have no clue how "college football" is a thing. (You'll be pleased to hear that some of the highest paid people on any given college campus are often the coaches of the football or basketball teams, depending on which the school is a "powerhouse" in...these guys are EXTREMELY powerful and wealthy individuals.)
