  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I like to cross stitch as well. I've been stitching since May 2001 and find it completely addictive! Oh well, it is helping me lose weight, because I can't eat and stitch at the same time! :)

As for finding Christian patterns, I have found a lot of them, and I'm not a Christian! LOL You may want to try some of these designers too:

I'm currently working on Lavender and Lace's Angel of Grace. It's a big project and it's taking me a while to do it.. but I do enjoy it when I get a minute.
I completed Lavender and Lace's Angel of Light several years ago, and it's beautiful! But, you're right...it's LOTS of work!

I have started Angel of Freedom, but haven't gotten too far along with it yet. :)

I recently finished Angel of Mercy. It was a lot of work, but I love the way the beads look on it. Here's a picture. (I'd love to see some of you other cross-stitchers show off some of your favorite projects too!)

Hello - This cross stitch thread was how I found this forum last night. I've been cross stitching for 20 some years now, beleive it or not I'm just now learning how to stitch on linen. I've found some really nice christian themed patterns through the years. (collecting patterns is half the fun) This is my first reply (or anything) on this forum, I'm having a bit of a time figuring out how all this works. (can you tell?) I am so excited to find this forum, my husband belongs to a 4 x 4 forum, but I had no idea there is a christian forum! - praise God - a chance to meet and greet more brothers and sisters in the Lord!!! - I'm open to any advice on how to work this??

I've been cross-stitching for about 4-5 years now and find it the greatest stress reliever of all time! (Except for when I have to unpick hundreds of stitches because I buggered it up! hehe)

I'm working on a baby sampler by Anchor's "Newton's Law" at the moment (cutest bear you'll ever see!) and loving it!

I know quite a few guys around here who stitch - including my fiancee! In fact, he stitched a beautiful love poem he wrote me and framed it for me for my birthday! :)

I love to cross stitch. I have one that I am working on that has pink flowers that will be a quilt when I get it finished. I just finished cross stitching one not to long ago that was a teddy bear quilt but I have to get it put into the quilt now.

I love cross-stitch - it is the best stress reliever ever, as somebody's already said. I listen to the TV or a movie while I do it. Right now I'm making this gorgeous bookmark with Tudor roses on it, and looking around for some more pretty designs.

hello i was reading you like to cross stictch, i enjoy these things but i have not the time. anyways if you could tell me how much time does a stitch take??

One stitch by itself - a few seconds. A complete project - that depends on what size it is. A smaller project can be completed in a few hours, but some projects literally take years.

I've attached a pic of one of my finished projects that I'm particularly proud of, my mom's 2002 Christmas gift. Linda Coleman design, found in the Cross Country Shopping, December 2001 issue.

;) Hi, love the encouragement, I too am still learning to not lose count. Have wanted to xst. for years and now am finally doing it (learnt to unpick really good too). I do love it and it sure is addictive, we have started a Sew and Sow Craft Club at our church's 'DropIn' mornings, it was mainly crocheting but now more and more are having a go at xst. Our motto is getting to be "Xst forever, housework whenever". God bless all stitchers.

Your project turned out really well, bet your mom loved it. I really like the way metallic threads look.

I love to cross stitch! My mom taught me when I was about 8 years old. Right now I'm doing a Precious Moments, with the guy, girl and dog. (I love precious moments stuff!) But I don't have much time to do it, and when i do do it, my mom tells me I should be doing something else (like cleaning my room :( )

Who likes cross stitch? What one are you currently doing at the moment. I am doing a Winnie-The-Pooh and friends one looking over a river and they are looking at a frog. There is a phrase at the bottom of it which reads "Everybody loves to play, in a splashy sort of way" Only started it before Christmas and I have now nearly finished it. Gonna wash it, and frame it and give it to my friend Chris for her birthday on the 9th March.
I haven't done any cross-stitch since I got my bifocals, but almost every picture hanging on my wall is a cross-stitch picture..I've done a 25x30 carousel, a fully-filled in pastoral scene for my parents that was 15x15, a pair of peacocks (never again with all those "eyes" on the tails!), a scene looking in & out of a door, and various floral scenes. I still have my large basket of cross-stitch books though.. I guess eventually I will get used to bifocals and start in again. Lately I've been crocheting afghans, the Joy Circle at my church sells crafts at Market Days on the Square and I've been crocheting fancy baby afghans for sale there. Driving my husband nuts buying yarn!

I just love cross stitching. I just finish a pair of dolphins for a friend of mine who had started it for her daughter but never finished it. I'm also almost done a christmas one by Mirabilia but I lost my beading needle so I have to wait until I get new ones and right now I started a sleeping little boy surrounded by angels for my son. Has anyone else done Mirabilia? They are the most gorgeous patterns I have ever seen. Lots of beeding.
