After centuries of pseudoscience, researchers examine the causes of racial health disparities.
People of color across the board in the U.S. have been negatively impacted by health disparities that leave them vulnerable to chronic illness and disease. Black American communities are among the hardest hit.
After emancipation, pseudo-scientific racial theories continued to grow. One theory was that Black Americans would become extinct. Freedom was not, quote: “natural” for Black people. Now that they were no longer enslaved, they would simply die out.
