I'm having a little difficulty finding official compilations of the statistics for seizures of police stations by rioters in 2010 vs 2019, or takeovers by revolutionaries and the secession from the USA of whole sections of the downtowns of major American cities, but I'll keep looking.

I know you're just making fun, but if you're not basing your information on factual data, what's the point?

That's all more than I have time to get into right now. My point was that in California theft is down because it's no longer even reported under 100 dollars. Maybe crime is down in some areas and not others. Idk. I'm definitely not an expert.

There are amply studies on these sorts of things. Especially in this day and age where information is at our fingertips, there's no reason to not do the research.

The point is valid and we all know that it is. So it's worth mentioning if anyone is under the mistaken impression that nothing out of the ordinary went on in Minneapolis or Seattle this past week.

Has it? Just looking at crime rates in the U.S. for example, there has been a general decline in the last few decades.

Interestingly though is the public perception is that crime has increased.

5 facts about crime in the U.S.

Crime statistics are only as good as the reporting of crimes. If , for instance there were no police there would be no official reporting of crime to base statistics upon and one could claim there was no crime. Let's try a similar example, say graduation rates have been going up. Is this because students are more responsible and doing the work ? Or, is this because the schools want them up because of government mandates affecting funding for the schools so they graduate people that have not done the work that in the past would have been necessary for them to graduate. So crime rates are down. Is that because people are committing fewer crimes or because police departments want to look good so they don't report every crime or because some neighborhoods distrust the police and don't report crimes or because some gang will make life miserable for any individual that reports a crime? I surely don't know all the possibilities or if any one is mostly responsible for a reduction of crime rate reporting.

Again, single points of data are not the same thing as a trend.

We need to be able to protect ourselves from criminals. Restore the second amendment and watch all criminals, including those that are pretending to be real police officers, think twice.
Then the true police force won't need to be so defensive because they know the good guys with guns can actually have their back. We would witness less crime and those crimes that we do witness, we could actually do something to help instead of just yelling and filming.

Since many (citizens) are acting like animals, treat them as such. Load them up with tranquilizers like they do when needing to capture a wild animal. That way they can be brought in to captivity without harm.

Policing in America Is Broken. How Do We Fix It?

STOP BREAKING THE LAW!!!!!

That is fine and true.. until we become globally oppressed by the technocratic age. We can stop the overlords now by recognizing them for their agenda and we can pull the plug on digital surveillance. But it won't happen. People will not be willing to give up their smart phones and technology for the analog ways. So we are broken no matter what unless there is a global EMP.

What do you think about this?
Why stop there, aside from Latino, etc. you got gay, transgender, latte drinking, vegetarian, etc etc areas. Of course that would mean there are white, black, Latino, etc., gay, transgender, latte drinking, vegetarian, etc etc criminals but pointing them out would be discriminatory or biased.

I already answered this in another thread.

Ahhh! Finally we're edging closer to something that might actually make a difference!

Employing people that are suitably selected and trained for the job!

In my opinion, the important factors are:
1. Recruitment - Filter out people who are psychologically unsuited to policing.
2. Training - Make sure police are trained to restrain, detain, and disarm people in a manner that is safe to them and the person they are trying to apprehend.
3. Discipline - Identify police that are behaving inappropriately and retrain them or remove them from policing.

Some police departments seem to be cracking down on discipline. Now they just need to work on recruitment and training.

I'll also add that police often seem to have a habit of closing ranks and protecting each other after an incident of bad policing has taken place. And I think that creating a culture where police are willing to call each other out for bad behaviour will be one of the most difficult problems to crack. But of course all of this is much easier if you choose the right people for the job, also known as having a recruitment strategy.

I'd guess the people who bear most responsibility for recruitment, training, and discipline are the Chiefs of the various Police Departments. And as much as it feels good to some people to blame President Trump, I struggle to see how he is reponsible for bad policing in a city where the elected politicians, and the mayor are all Democrats, and have been for decades.

Also worth noting that most Trump and GOP supporters who don't live in these Democrat-controlled cities will most likely just stand on the sidelines and spectate with a bucket of popcorn if these cities are foolish enough to try the risky social experiment of defunding policing. But they will also be stocking up on AR-15s and ammunition in case the fallout from defunding the police ever spills over and they need to defend their neighboorhoods, homes, and families. Certainly recent events have proved that the Second Amendment is still important, because there will most definitely be times when the police are totally overwhelmed, and you need to be self sufficient and armed for the purposes of defending yourself.

It all boils down to the unwritten law of man.. thou shalt not question or oppose the concept of authourity. Of course authourity itself may be deposed by another authourity. War is profitable and can be self justified..

I don't believe that policing is necessarily broken.

For every instance of a police officer using excessive force of even killing a man is custody, how many other instances happen in which a suspect is taken in peacefully, officers show restraint and wisdom and good judgement, officers stand down when appropriate, or officers treat suspects humanely and kindly? This happens, too. What is the ratio?
