He didn't create death or sin .... He created law .... because without law .... there is lawlessness .... He created laws and choice .....
When people don't obey laws ... yes there are consequences .... we see this all the time in human society ,,,, and yeah for some laws broken there are severe consequences (even death) but people choose to disobey laws .... they can CHOOSE differently.
Do you understand how true Love requires choice? If God would not have given choice ... we would be a bunch of robots without a choice to love or not to love. God doesn't force anyone to love .... it's a choice.
Freedom of choice and consequences for choices made ...... good or bad.
True Love is not a forced issue.
I most certainly do.
I pray the Lord will give you some light in the matter.

Not really I don't think we truley have free choice. If you stop and think about it the choices you make are based upon your personality and the environment you were nurtured in. But how does your personality form? From the life events you encounter. Well you never had a say in any of these things. The way i figure we have very little free will. People are more like coding in a machine then were comfortable with.
Edit: also the problem of free will isn't whats wrong with your idea. If you believe god created death as a punishment to reinforce his laws. That's still God creating death regardless of his intentions.

Yes but you seem to have forgotten key elements to the myth. Adam and Eve were created without the knowledge of right an wrong. A key design error if there ever was one. They did not so much "choose" to disobey God in the story. They were the victim of a setup where God placed them in a situation that they were not prepared to deal with. Not only that he allowed the "serpent" to lead them to that. By the way the serpent was the only one that told the truth in the whole story. It is good news that the story never happened as told. The story clearly makes God to be the one in the wrong. It is bad theology. It still works as an allegory. But not as an actual event.

Free will includes the option to make bad choices .... and yeah there are consequences for bad choices made.
Again .... take a few minutes and think about LOVE ..... you can NOT force anyone to LOVE anyone .... it has to be a choice ..... please think on it for a while.
It is true that how a person is "raised" and life events (consequences) formulates a lot of our personality .... that is why biblically God encourages one to raise up their children according to His principles and laws.
I mean think about it .... what if we didn't have laws at all? TOTAL and COMPLETE chaos.
Do you not see .... there would be no love without freedom of choice. God created us to love Him and one another by our choice to do so .... but He does not FORCE anyone to do it.
And yes .... everyone is subject to death (eternal death) .... but God showing His Love and Mercy sent His son Jesus who paid our "sin debt" (eternal death) for those who believe in Him. So one does NOT have to choose death .... they can choose life.

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

You mean "realist"? Yes, love just happens. I can't choose what woman I fall in love with. A woman can do things that will make me not love her. I do not look at a woman and decide to fall in love with her. "Choosing" almost sounds like the mindset of a stalker to me.

Love happens not by choice but by something deeper within the Heart. With Love, there's an unexplained connection and draw that a person just can't explain. The choice happens in what we do with that Love when it does strike.

The only aspect of being aware of Love to that of the evolutionary process is our evolved self-conscious awareness of our emotions. Love is not a choice. And yes, it just kinda happens.

"God didn't create death, he created law. And the consequence of breaking the law was death." Tell us, who created death as a punishment?
Did God say to Adam "if you break this law you will die" or did Adam say to God "if I break this law you must end my life"?

While I agree with the atheists here that love isn't a choice, rather it is an experience, I do still disagree with the atheists here that in life we don't have free will or choice to decide between actions.
The idea that I don't have a choice whether to wear green socks or blue socks, and that everything predetermined sounds odd to me.

Predetermined might be a bad word for what I'm trying to say. When you make a choice the tool set you use to make that choice (genetics, the environment you grew up in your life expirences, etc) is something you yourself had zero influence on. So just how much free will did you truley have? I'm sorry if I'm not explaining this well.
