And because people have hard lives, with not much time in them, they don't think, "maybe this is too simple, maybe I should think a little harder, learn a little advanced maths," they just say "Thank you, Reverend X, for giving us a nice plateful of meaty digestible chunks we don't have to chew on too hard."

Thus, the little Hitlers and demagogues and fundamentalist preachers of this world persuade ordinary people to follow them. Because it's so much easier to let someone else do your thinking for you. So much easier to just let go and let the Reverend X tell you what the Bible says.

I have no comment on this post, as I find It horribly offensive. Artybloke would you please reconsider comparing fundementalist preachers to hitler, because they are our brothers in christ.

If God wanted to reveal some of the important facts of Creation to humanity in a way that even a child can understand, then He can. Are you suggesting it would not be okay for God to do this?

Supporting and proclaiming the plain truth of God's word is one of the highest activities of the human intellect. To in any way equate this with Hitler's own rhetoric shows the pathetic levels to which TE's will stoop in a bid to promote their own propaganda.

The only important fact of creation that I can think of is that God did it. "How" is irrelevant. So the writers of the creation-poem weren't interested in telling us the exact details; why would they be?

You could use the same argument about the historical facts surrounding the crucifixion, and some liberal theologians do. That serves to demonstrate the folly of your position.
