  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yet the scripture states exactly seven, 24 hour periods of time during the creation. Jewish believers also knew and held this view before there was even a Christian church.

And we know that Jewish believers are never wrong about scripture... right? ;)

The Jewish believers got this part right, but are wrong about Jesus not being God?

No, John, Paul, Luke, Matthew, Mark and the many, many other believers in Israel were not wrong. You are right about that. The ones that got it wrong were the ones that followed tradition and thought more of themselves, rather than actually studied God's word.

Who are you talking about here? It sounds like a rather nebulous accusation.

Some got it wrong, some got it right. The ones that got it wrong seemed more like the political part of Jewish society. Using the scriptures more than studying them. The Sadducees and the Pharisees. Am I wrong?

Oh, well, I was not even sure that you were talking about Jewish groups. I thought so but was not sure.

That being said, I do not know what kind of distinction you make when you say "using more than studying" and being a "political part." The Pharisees, Saducees, Essenes, etc., all had various interpretations they made of the received Old Testament text. Also, they all were involved in politics in one way or another.

Where does it say in the Old Testament that God will appear on Earth as a human?

You will find 44 references the messiah in Genesis, Exodus, Isaiah, Numbers, Micah, 2 Samuel, Daniel, Psalms, Hosea, Deut., Malachi, and Zecheria. As well as references below from the NT writers who knew of those prophesies and witnessed their fulfillment.

Acts 13:23
Of this man's seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus:

Acts 13:32
And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers,

Acts 26:6
And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God, unto our fathers:

Acts 26:22 Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:
23 That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.

Romans 1:2
(Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,)

Romans 15:8
Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:

The slave owners also used the bible to justify the keeping of slaves,
Yes, and scientific methodists would agree with you.

Have you seen my Cliffs Notes on the Civil War?

1. The South supported slavery.
2. The North was against slavery.
3. God broke the tie.

Evidently scientists want Southern Baptists to reignite the issue?

Good help is hard to find in a lab these days, isn't it?

The slave owners also used the bible to justify the keeping of slaves, it's a wonderful book because it allows us all to do anything we want.

Anyone can use the bible and pull out verses and make them say anything they want. If you take the whole book and the verse in context, then you will see the truth.

That's why we have so many denominations. They have taken verses out of context and deceived masses of people into believing their unbiblical doctrine. Most people do not read the bible cover to cover every year...they expect the pastor to tell them all the info (unbiblical)...that is why we have so much deception going on.

Genesis 50:20 " But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good..."
Take a guess what "evil" Joseph was referring to?
God did the exact same thing with slavery in America. God is wonderful.

What reeks is translations such as this ...

Romans 1:1 [NASB] Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle and set apart for the gospel of God,
