Why is it a bad wager?
It is a reasonable one in my opinion

OK, suppose I accept. Which God should I go with? Yours? Why? Why not any of the thousands of other possibilities? Why not one of the infinite number of possibilities no one's even suggested yet? Maybe I'll believe in the Sceptic God, who deliberately created the Universe such that there is insufficient evidence to conclude that he exists, and will send believers to hell?

The evidence of Jesus Christ, and the reliability of the Bible.
All other religions claim you have to do something to reconcile with God, Christianity says it's done, all you have to do is have faith.
It is obvious at least in my case that there is nothing that I could do on my own merit to get right with God.

A couple reasons.

1) It assumes that there are only two possibilites, and ignores what might happen if other religions are right.

2) It is based on selfishness and fear. A person who believes in god because of Pascals wager is believing in god just to save their own butt and out of fear of punishment. Believing in god just to save ones own but is selfish and a slap in gods face.
the person is Using god to get something they want. I doubt god takes kindly to being used for selfish purposes.

I totally agree with you, like I said it is not the basis for my belief, but in my opinion is more reasonable than any other.
No other religion is as consistent or has as many evidences for their God than the Christian one.

Then that is why you believe in god. However, the consistancy or "evidence" is still lacking when you want to talk about it being a part of science.

Are you sure its proof? Maybe you should post it in another thread. There are plenty of people (like me ) who have done quite a bit of study on the flood.

Can you also post the evidence of the exodus?

He could not have been a good man if so many people have died because they put their faith in Him.
He would also be a liar, because He claimed to be God.
He would be an idiot because He died one of the most horrific deaths imaginable, and He know he was lying.
He would also be a demon from hell, tricking people to put their eternal salvation in Him

Wouldnt the best answer be "I do not know everything, thus I cant make a decision on something that is out of my league"

The conclusion is that the professing atheist wont find God for the same reason that a criminal won't find a cop.
They are avoiding them for fear that their deeds will be exposed. They are scared because if all this is true, it demands a life change.
When you wake up and flip on the light it hurts, but after a while your eyes get used to it and you can see clearly.
Or you can flip the light off and continue walking in the darkness.

In order to know say you KNOW there IS NO gold in China you have to search every crack, mountain, no gold rings, no gold teeth.
In order to say that you KNOW there IS gold in China all you have to do is see a piece of gold.

Um, you are confusing atheists with something else (seems to be Very common recently). And you are also confusing science with atheism.

However, as is common this thread has turned into a battle between theism Vs Atheism (which there can be no winner).

that is a major problem for creationists and Inteligent Deisgnists. They are really fighting the theism vs Atheism battle, but giving it a different name.


P.S. Im not avoiding god because im afraid of him. so, um, come up with a new reason why atheists are evil.
