First of all, I just wanted to hear what you had to say about his counter against all the websites that have come out against him. He "answers his critics" in that. I pretty much expected this many responses, but your personal attacks are a little off. Not that I care or Dr. (i'm sure you love that) Hovind does either. If you have a slow connection than thats fine and I understand, for I only listen to them at the office (cable conn.).

As far as the written debates, I disagree, but we are not going to get anywhere arguing about that. I just wanted your opinion about his answer to the websites. I figured I would go to the most liberal (excuse the expression) place on this forum and get their rebuttals for I always like to hear both sides. Granted, you are probally not going to change my mind, but I will read your rebuttals. I am devouted christian, so I will not join in any ad-hominem attacks(though I have before, regretfully). I will not be on here for long, for we are just not clicking (lol, wonder why). No, I just don't have the time, but don't make stupid remarks without factual account. A couple of questions....

1. Do all of you think that evolution should be taught in school?

2. Is evolution a proven fact in your mind?

3. Do you think God should be mentioned in the first-cause theories?

4. If not, then why not?

5. Is not teaching anything else a religion also?

I will stop right there, please just answer the questions and stray from personal attacks.

P.S. Bushido, Dr.Hovind deals with that website and I would like your opinion about his points. I have been to that website and most of what I saw was just personal attacks. The guy also mentioned that he had no sceintific credentials. Why you (a person that argues against Hovind about not having a phd, pointing me to a guy that has no sceintific experience, seems like a double standard) may have a good amount of experience in science, stray from attacks like AIG, or He doesn't have a phd,he was charged with assault (many have been charged, many are not guilty),etc....

What exactly would the person who wrote the website get his PhD in?

Do they offer a PhD in 'Hovind'? Or a Phd in 'keeping track of wacko's claims'?

Keep on talking your just proving my point. Your personal attacks prove nothing except ignorance. I was looking for a good rebuttal, not nonsense. I believe I made that pretty clear. Well, this is what I expected.

1. Do all of you think that evolution should be taught in school?
Yes, it is fact. Why would we not teach it?

2. Is evolution a proven fact in your mind?
YES, not just in my mind. Evolution is why new antibiotics have to be developed all of the time.

3. Do you think God should be mentioned in the first-cause theories?
He (Deity) is mentioned as one possiblity in The Big Bang Theory. Evolution is not part of thcis theory and does not concern itself with the topic of God.

4. If not, then why not?
Evolution does not mention God because it does not concern itself with what the prime mover was. Evolution speaks about what has been observed after that point.

5. Is not teaching anything else a religion also?
I do not understand what this is asking?

Josh1-You really need to study evolution more. You are arguing on emotion not on logic or fact. The Data does not point to all species being created at one time without change. CreationISM was falsified a looong time ago. This does not mean God was falsified but that the method people previously thought he used to create. There is only a very small portion of Christians that are still creationists.

My pc bugged-out while I was replying. When I went back to see if the incomplete reply had submitted anyway, I saw LorentzHA's answers. They were nearly identical to mine (if you're interested in my answers, Josh1).

LOL, give it a listen, it might do you some good.

Listener's letter: [.....] It is said the Sun is a burning ball of gas, in other words fire. What is the one thing that fire needs to burn? Oxygen. How come that stars continue to burn if they have no oxygen to keep them burning? [.....] (from http://www.geocities.com/kenthovind/)

Josh1: This is only one of many laughable quotes from the "Dr." regarding science. Would you want your children learning science from this charlatan?

1. The concept of evolution is very trivial, you've to admit that. Changing data by mutations, selection by best-fitting and changing again. I want to build a genetic (fuzzy) system once.
2. Biological evolution isn't, I've to study the layers first.
3. Sure, although I don't care really, I'm living now.
4. Maybe because somebody doesn't believe in God?
5. Anything else a religion also? I don't care about religion. I care only about a living relationship with a personal God as a friend. I'm not doing well at the moment, actually.

You have no idea how close I came to puking, smashing in my computer screen, or dying of laughter when I read that. Screw PhD, did the man graduate from highschool?

Why would he need a Ph.D. to keep track of Hovind's lies? Infact, how does this refute the claim that Hovind has no Ph.D.?

Okay, then please explain yourself. What was the relevance of this statement by you:

The guy also mentioned that he had no sceintific credentials. Why you (a person that argues against Hovind about not having a phd, pointing me to a guy that has no sceintific experience, seems like a double standard) may have a good amount of experience in science, stray from attacks like AIG, or He doesn't have a phd,he was charged with assault (many have been charged, many are not guilty),etc....
Face it, you reached your illogical hand toward the cookie jar and the hand of logic smacked it away. ;)

How can people seriously beleive this guy? It's insane.
Simple: his supporters are ignorant of basic science concepts, what things like "the theory of evolution" or "radiometric dating" really are, or how science actually works in the first place. That is evident from examples like the person who wrote about the sun running out of oxygen so it shouldn't be "burning" or whatever it was.

He then appeals to their emotions by waving around a (purchased and irrelevant) doctorate and painting evolution as something its not and equating it to atheism (= bad, of course). Thus, it's either Christianity or science. So he tells people what they want to hear about science (or rather the strawman version of scientific conepts) such that Christianity appears true and that scientists are engaged in some sort of godless conspiracy. It also makes ignorant people feel smart without actually having to put forth any effort into, say, learning.

But then again, you already figured that out for yourself, I'm sure. ;) It just seems very easy to see why so many people believe him. They simply don't know any better and they get told what they want to hear so they don't actually have to research anything at all.

Hovind claims he received his doctorate (in education) from Patriot University. The whole truth is that the degree is actually a Doctor of Ministry in Christian Education. Furthermore, Patriot University offers only correspondence courses. The "campus" is reputed (and widely ridiculed) to be a split-level house in suburban Colorado.

By the way Josh, you might as well surrender now that Ishmael Borg is here. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.
