Chris, I'm still not entirely sure what you were talking about. If I understand you correctly you are saying that populations don't evolve, they deteriorate over time due to an accumulation of mutations, etc. If this is what you are saying then I think I am right in saying that your theory depends on whether or not mutations can be beneficial and can add new 'information'.

If it can be shown that mutations can be beneficial and that mutations can add new information, would this falsify your theory? Also, I'm not sure what you mean by "fitness cost". Can you define it more precisely please? It seems you are implying that any beneficial mutation a creature develops has to be paid for in some way? Like the when the Galapagos finches gain bigger beaks they get smaller? This doesn't make any sense to me.

Going back to giant sloths and kangaroos etc, you say that of the spices alive today, they had bigger and better ancestors. Do you think this is true for all species, or are there exceptions? How does you theory explain the exceptions? I think it's also worth pointing out that the fossil record also contains the remains of the bigger and better creature's ancestors. In the majority of cases the ancestors of the bigger and better creatures, were smaller and weaker. How does your theory explain this?

what I fail to see is how those that are bigger and stronger and breed more, survive less. tis a tad odd to me.
That's the bit I don't get either. But according to Chris, he thinks that the bigger and stronger creatures of ages past have degenerated (or devolved as I think he'd put it) into the lesser forms we have today. While I see how this could sort of make sense for specific species and a selection of their ancestors (smilodon 'devolves' into today's cat family, etc.) it makes absolutely no sense when one considers the fossil record as a whole.

Any idea what he means by "fitness cost"?

Simply the basis of Evolutionary "science" begins with a belief in the unification of "nature". Evolution is a nature based paradigm.
Creation is a technology based paradigm. That is grounded in the observable. (ALL THINGS ARE SEPARATE) separate programs.
Taking multiple things and imagining some sort of connection takes place in the mind only. Ultimately evolution leads to eco-terrorism and the destruction of technology based science. Evolution is anti-science.

Anyone else noticing the similarities?

It is really a shame that this forum has lost all seriousness. I am curious as to what has attracted the crowd that has seemed to filter in.
Heck, we don't even get original trolls anymore. :(

Yes indeed, it seems like the trolls have largely given up. I mean, that guy didn't even really give out any points he could prove. The point of his last few posts, as far as I could discern, was "natural selection doesn't happen because I don't think it does."

Karl Marx wrote to Charlie Boy Darwin "a sincere admirer". Karl Marx three of his children died of starvation and two killed themselves. An Evolutionist.

Pol Pot dictator of Cambodia killed one third to one half of his people tens of millions died.
An Evolutionist.

Stalin Russian CZAR killed almost 100 million of his own people. An Evolutionist.

China's current leader killed millions of christians, their own people. An evolutionist.

Hitler killed 7 million european Christans and 4 million jews, believed that jews and blacks were not as evolved as aryans. aN EVOLUTIONIST

Tasmanian race extinct. due to evolutionist.

Aboriginies tens of thousands killed for their skulls. by evolutionist.

Both world wars were fought against evolutionist dictators.

Ah I see so you are claiming that all these occurred because the originators are evolutionists. What a uniquely silly concept. Tell me are the people responsible for;

The Helispontine war,

The Pelopenisian war,

The Roman Conquests,

The reign of terror under Attila the Hun,

The Crusades,

The Inquisition,

The genocide of the Incas,

The slaughter of the native Americans,

The opium war,

All evolutionists as well?

also, whether they were evolutionists or not is about as relevant as what football team they supported, since evolution is not a religious position, as the OP alludes to. Hitler for example was extremely interested in obtaining religious artefacts of power, such as the Lance of Longinus - something that would not bother him at all if he were an atheist.

I know I am little late on some of these but here goes.
Stalin Russian CZAR killed almost 100 million of his own people. An Evolutionist.
Sorry but Stalin was an anti-Darwinist. I wonder if any creationists have ever heard of Lysenko.

Aboriginies tens of thousands killed for their skulls. by evolutionist.
I think this is a flat out lie. However, the creationist Christians who came to the new world did bring death to millions and I supposed it could be argued to be the result of evolution but not "evolutionists". Millions in the New World and in Pacifica died from measles because they were not adapted to the disease and did not have the immune resistence that the Europeans who brougth it to them had evolved.

Seeing as Hitler has been invoked, doesn't that automatically end the debate?
heh, you make it sound like roleplay:

"You have invoked Adolf Hitler with power of thread ending +5. your argument now dies instantly, but other players may continue firing at you"

someone needs to make a card of that really, like the bevets one.

What you think is a lie is completely irrelevant, so your irony-meter can not be trusted. The fact remains that, if Chris Lesley is a teacher, he is feeding lies to children. I, for one, am appalled.
